As I was reading the papers this morning, I came across an article with few nice food pictures.. It caught my eyes, and since we are planning for a family eat-around again, this place sounds pretty nice. Especially when we are bringing pop and mum, a decent chinese meal will never go wrong.

Wow.. brother bought some durians today... and me and pop doing what we do best.. Yes, opening the durians.. It's been a while since we had this 'activity'. We used to buy durians back in one piece.. It reminds me of the time we spent with my late aunty (Ku Cheh). But those are sweet memories. Today, I felt her appearance.. How I miss her.. I hope she is well wherever she is now. Rest in peace Ku Cheh.. I miss you.

So, back to the durians, they are great! Simple delicious.. Juicy and fleshy, as big as my palm, and they are just amazing..

I feel a stomach ache before I sleep. Mild one. Too bad it strikes in the middle of my sleep. It's not mild anymore.

Off to the loo. It was a satisfying one. Hee. Enough said.

Went back to room but I'm too awake to fall asleep again. I seek refuge on internet. Read www.thestar.com.my, www.chedet.com. More interesting political stories.

So exciting that me and wernn thinks film makers should jot down all details and make a movie from this saga. We can rope in some international movie stars. The scripts and movieline are good anyway. I think it'll surely be a box office. We can even get it listed in the Malaysian Books of Records too. First movie on Malaysia's era lost in transition. We'll just play the movie for the students during the school's Sejarah class. It's easy to absorb too.

Let everyone be aware of how critically-ill Malaysia has become.
Let everyone knows that history do repeats.
Let everyone knows that history is here so we learn the good and discard the bad.

Sejarah class will never be the same again? Hee.

I think I better get some sleep while it's still dark outside. And great.. It's weekend! Yay!

Saturday fun time learning English...

I just came back from my relative's place after a full moon dinner..
I was writing and came across the word 'rhythms'. I wasn't sure of the spelling, so I checked it out and noticed that they have no vowel letters.. So, being free, I try to trigger more words that has no vowel letters in it..

Rhythms, try, why, hymn, myth, shy, cry, my, cysts, lymph, fly.

And did you noticed that all the words above has 'y' in it?

hehe.. now I'm trying hard to get a word -vowel -y
..

So, I seeked refuge from the Internet.. and it's getting more fun learning that 'y' is a vowel when it sounds like a long 'i'. People are debating on whether the letter 'y' is a vowel or a consonant. Some says 'y' is only used as a vowel when no main vowel exists in the word.

So, all the words I've mentioned above are thus, consider as words with vowels?!?

You have any idea? Are there any real English words that has no vowels?

At the 3rd International Bookfest in KL Convention Centre. There are lots of great bargains here, more so on Chinese books. Lots of varieties and price comes in from as low as RM3. Huge crowd, happy to see many book lovers around.

Then, we head to Galeri Petronas, to see what's interesting and on show. Stirring Odissi is currently on till June 22 '08, at Level 3, Suria KLCC every day except Monday, from 10am to 8pm.

I did not get to take a picture of this, but it was on The Star, 1st June '08. I ‘printscreen’ it.. :)

Then, we head over to LowYat Plaza around 6+pm to purchase network card. It was pretty jam that day at Bintang area. I got a DLink network card for Rm18 at All IT Hypermarket. On the way back, we stop for a while to watch the World Cyber Games held outside LowYat Plaza. There was a PC football game going on between two participants. They were on stage and there's a big screen showing the game. They even have a few rows for spectators to watch the footie. Wernn said it was more exciting than the real footie. I have to agree. The footie game was fast and interesting. We got back to our car within an hour and head home for dinner with parents. We had our steamboat dinner at our old place, Hoong Kee's Steamboat.

World Cyber Games 2008

Later, we head over to Coco Banana, Sunway Pyramid, meeting up with my colleagues and Kenji. It was a great night, it's been a long time since we had a night out drinking session. Headed home around 2am and it's time for a good rest after a long day.

Cleaning my cabinet

Tonight, I suddenly had the urge to clean up my cabinet.. and among those I found inside are papers and tonnes of papers, envelopes, and more papers. (Not sure why I'm keeping them, but I know I need to recycle them.. the time is finally here.. hehe)

So, I go through and found many 'red bombs' from all my beloved friends.. But I think the majority came from last year, 2007 where I had a lot of friends getting married and I'm invited to share the big day with them! And I still have their wedding invitation card! It was nice going through it.. hee.. and these are some of it.. hehee.. :)

I was browsing through my PC & cleaning up some stuff. I found some pictures I've taken some time back while having dinner. Now, I've got the time to post it and share with you..

Restaurant Yue Yee Chai, opposite Shaw Parade, beside Public Bank was closed. Buttt... they sort of re-open it a few shops down the block over the corner (near to the traffic light towards Berjaya Times Square). The place is brightly lighted and the food tastes just as good. The dishes were served pretty fast too.

We ordered fried keow tiow, mushroom noodle and kangkung belacan. It was delicious.

These 2 pictures were taken from Sek Hou restaurant, near to the GSC cinema (3rd floor) in Berjaya Times Square.

The restaurant name means 'Eat Good' and I do agree with them. The food were served in a generous portion and by looking at the menu, we are definitely spoilt for choices. You get some western and eastern meals and their drinks menu are quite special.

The unique thing is that, they have meals that are specially prepared for the health conscious. At an affordable price, you get to taste herbal soups and noodles. I will take more pictures of their latest menu the next time I'm there...

Over the weekend...

Also went to visit Ayu and family in JB.. Hehe, they are one growing happy family and it's nice to see them again after a looong time. Ayu remains the hot cheeky and cute Ayu (I wonder if she ever grows old). Raul is a cute lil child .. sleeping and waking up .. and his eyes though is not as big as mine yet, but very soon, I know, he will catch up just like his big bro.

Too bad, I didn't get to take any pictures of lil Raul, coz we were busy talking and talking and eating (thanks Ayu for the best mee rebus).. I'm so glad we manage to made the trip to visit Ayu and family, it was a fun and happy trip.. and that's a great quality time I've had.

Just manage to capture some sunset pictures and the chocolate from Ayu, that keep us awake and energize till our dinner at around 930pm.

Over the week...

I ate some preserved guavas bought from the snacks counter in Jusco supermarket.. It's one of the best I've ever tasted. Not dry, but it's kinda juicy and fresh. Yummy....Yummy. But can't consume too much of it.. Just for snacks once a while should be fine le.... Priced at RM2.09/100gm.

I finally signed up for Facebook! After so long.. hee

I read about the new toilet bowl concept restaurant in Queensbay Mall Penang. Remember seeing some Taiwanese restaurants that has this concept long ago.. oo, now it's in Malaysia. The food appearance looks pretty acceptable ;) Not sure if they have faeces shape ice-creams like those in Taiwan.. hee..

I tested out my new phone and its EDGE connection via Bluetooth. It doesn't work. Could be caused by some security settings? So, I plugged in the USB cable and tried connection via Nokia PC Suite. Voila, I got a connection using the USB modem and it's much faster from my usual Bluetooth connection. I'm so happy...

Finally, a happy note .. Jessie got married to Cheng after 5 years of courtship. I wish them both a happy ever after and contented life.

She was very thoughtful.. On our 10 years of friendship, she bought me the delicate and beautiful Coach wristlet. I have never owned any purse at that heavy price tag.

I was overwhelmed, dumbstruck, happy, touched, happy again and all the feelings all over again.

I noticed myself just staring at the wristlet. Smilling, and staring.

The only reason why I acted that way, I'd figure is because I was happy that I received it from my friend so faraway, yet so close to my heart. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to me. Friendship forever.

Microsoft Tech-Ed SEA 2008 is back again at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia from August 11 - 14 2008. Tech.Ed SEA 2008

When you go to this page, you'll noticed an icon on top of the banner saying Get Microsoft Silverlight, "Light Up the Web". Install it and you'll see the banner playing the animation. Quick check shows that it's a new Web presentation technology that is created to run on a variety of platforms. Currently with version 1.0 up and running, and with version 2.0 coming up tomorrow! We'll have to see how impressive this can be in time to come..

Baking at Jacq's place..

It was a fine Sunday and I went over to Jacq's place for a lepak-ing session. Started off with buying lunch for two. Bought it at Hoong Kee Seafood Noodle House, Taman Maluri. For RM4, I get a tasty bowl of seafood noodle soup. Next, grab a tub of Kings Macadamia, Raspberry and Chips ice cream.

While on the way, I had my experience with 'the spider' in my car. I don't know where it came from, but I noticed it on my dashboard at the traffic light. 'The spider' jump onto my 'dino-toy'. I grab the nearest paper to 'shoo-ed' it away, and it jump back to the dashboard.

The light turns green and the timing was just too right that 'the spider' jump from the dashboard all the way to 'I don't know where', but it has to be between the driver's and passenger seat. My GOD. I can see the long thread/web starting from the dashboard. I used the paper to break it, but no, it doesn't work that way. All this happens while I'm making a turn and driving. Dangerous! But there's no emergency lane to stop. My body is now getting too close to my door and I just kept mumbling in 18SX languages. Argh, it's no where to be seen.
The short 5 mins drive is enough to keep me insance but tough! (Yes 18SX languages made me tough..) Forget 'the spider'. I don't know where it went!

I reached Jacq's place. I asked Jacq to check my hair, my back for any signs of 'the spider'. No, luckily. Then, I emptied my bag. No also. I gladly concluded that 'the spider' is still in my car. (And it will be gone when I go home later).

Lunch from Hoong Kee, it's delicious, yummy. Soup is nice.

After lunch, we watch some TV, surf for some beginners butter cake recipe, Fagor oven user's manual and get things started with this.

Our girlie Sunday turns out fun and relaxing (except the horror part in the movie).. Hope we can spend more quality time together ya.

I made myself a drink.. it's Bragg's apple cider vinegar + honey. Wernn bought it for me sometime back. He said that it was good for health, to support healthy immune system by removing toxins. The taste is awful I have to say, but mixing it with honey, makes it much more bearable.
No honey? Ah.. no no ... It will taste just like raw vinegar and imagine gulping it down. O.. honey is the saviour.

Barisan Nasional wins simple and denied 2/3 majority

After knocking off last night, the first thing when I woke up this morning is to grab The Star Newspaper to see the results. Among the headlines are:

Barisan reels from worst-ever election performance
Barisan lost Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor, PAS strengthened grip on Kelantan
MIC in shambles with no leader in the wings
Barisan can form the next government
Sombre mood at Umno headquarters
Blogger Jeff Ooi headed for Parliament

One article that had me in thoughts.. it was an interview with Pak Lah.

Excerpts:

Malaysia's 12th General Election Fever

I was caught by surprise to learn that the Opposition has taken over Penang, Kedah and Kelantan..
I think this election has many ups and downs and disappointments and victories. It's much more 'excited' as far as I can remember...

And much to my own surprises, I kept pressing F5 on the malaysiakini website to get the latest news... and the latest news now is that "Guan Eng to be Penang CM".

It's about my sleeping time, but still I'm excited to know on the rest of the results. Will continue with F5... but most important of all, all I wanted is a democratic, fair, beautiful and peaceful Malaysia.

FRIM Canopy Walk & a little of jungle trekking

Went to Forestry Research Insitute of Malaysia (FRIM) last weekend and spent about 4 hours there. Was looking forward to some exercises after all the CNY munching. Planned for a jog-a-walk at Kelana Jaya Recreational Park, but due to some plan changes, we opt for FRIM instead. Came to mind of FRIM when we saw the Canopy Walk on a book page cover. So, there we are, something to challenge myself too, for a 30m walk above ground and 300 m above sea levels.

After about 20mins drive from home, we reached FRIM. It was just a bit after passing Selayang Mall and Selayang Hospital if you're coming from Jalan Kuching. For details location, you can find it here...

We parked our car right outside the entrance (so we can walk in and saves RM5). We're all pack with towel, food, energy drink and starts our walk. RM1 for citizens, else it's RM5. It was nice scenery and because it wasn't sunny, I truly enjoyed the walk.

Reached the visitor information center, and quickly asked for the availability for Canopy Walk. Read it from Net that says, advanced booking is recommended, as only 250 people a day is allowed on the hanging bridge.. But luckily, we are early and after getting some guidance, we bought the tickets (RM5/person).

More walks and enjoying the forest, we climb up, down, pass some Pokok Kapur (you have to look up to see how beautiful it is). Malau (my team mate) says that they are a bunch of very harmonious trees. Then we reach the part where we start to jungle trek to reach the Canopy Walk. Sweats, rests, lizards, start to eat our food and drink our most needed energy drink and finally we reached a hut.. the start of the Canopy Walk. After a brief guidance, I started off on the bridge. I'm so scared though I knew the bridge won't fall. Malau also helps to steadies me. There are 3 platforms connecting 4 section of bridges. At the platforms, there's where I 'balanced' back myself and start shooting pictures... On the 2nd last part of the bridge, it starts shaking a little because it's a long section. O well, it is fun once I get the hang of it and I was saying to myself 'So beautiful'...

On the small platforms between the bridge, we can see the whole jungle, and also some part of the cities, as far as Sunway. It was amazing sight. When I'm back on ground, I wish I'm up there again.

Happy as a bee, we make our way down the hill and reached the track again much faster this time. Had a small picnic by the waterfall and had our way back... There are still people coming up at that time (almost 12pm), also some bikers and some uncles and aunties.

Felt so relaxed after sweating and the exercise. The sun is coming out now and then, but that's fine. We almost reached our car when we saw 2 couples taking their wedding photograph there. The background has very tall straight trees with coloured Autumn tree leaves full on the little hill slope. A beautiful scenery on a beautiful Saturday morning.

Bought the plants on the 17th Nov weekend, about 100 of them at RM2.50 each. Luckily it wasn't raining today. Now, it's kind of a headache to think of how we are going to wrap it decently to give away to Sharon's guests...

After some try, Jacq, Esther, Wei Hoong, Wern Ching, the bride and groom helped out with the wrappings, and we get it done. Boy, aren't we happy... Hehe..
