Hello and welcome to my vlog. This is the place where I will share all of my videos on the web. To play my videos you can either click on the picture of the video or click on the link that says "Click here to play video" Both methods will take you to the page where the video will play. If you are curious how to create your own free vlog check out freevlog.org
This is a very good website with lots of tutorials that take you step by step on the process to creat your own free vlog. If you watch the video tutorials and do exactly what they say then you will have your own vlog. I would suggest that you do what they are saying while the video tutorial is playing. You can pause the tutorial after they say something to complete the step and then contine playing the tutorial when you are fished. I don't know any html and I was able to create my own vlog. It is very simple and I think that anybody can do it. It will take a little bit of time and some of the steps are a little bit challenging. However if you stick with it I think you will find that it is worth the effort because in the end you know how to create a cool vlog without paying a dime. So money isn't an excuse in this situation. One last thing, if you want to subscribe to my site there is a little button on the right hand colum of this page just to the right of the counter. The button says "powered by feed burner". Click on this link to subscribe to my rss feed using a feed reader software. If you don't know what all this means don't worry. When you click on the link it will take you to a page that explains it all. With that said I hope you enjoy watching my videos and thank you for visiting my site.

Starry Night

This is an album that I created with Bubbleshare. Bubbleshare is a free service for uploading and sharing your photos. If you are using a Mac you can download a plug-in that allows you to upload albums directly from iPhoto. You go to file, export, and click on the Bubbleshare tab. When your pictures are uploaded you are sent an e-mail with a link to your album, which you can forward to all your friends. They also give you a RSS feed, which is similar to what iPhoto does. They even call it photocast. Click on the photo below to view my album.

Mac World/New Year

Another year is in the banks and now we have the excitement of Macworld to look forward to. I can't wait to see if the rumors about the new intel macs are true. If they are then the Mac mini could become common place as the home entertainment center. With Front Row 2 and a possible DVR application users could record television shows to their computers hard drive or external drive similar to a Tivo device. With Front Row being the application as your one stop place for media you could organize your shows. Also the Mac mini would be a great computer to hook up to your TV to play back your video podcasts. One thing that I think would be really fun would be to have a video chat with one of my friends on my 50 inch Sony Grand Wega. This reminds me of Star Trek were Captain Pecard talks to his enemies on a video screen.

Christmas

Christmas is just a week away. It's hard to believe that it's already this time of year. I guess when your busy and having a good time things go by fast. I still don't know what I am going to get for Christmas. I haven't asked for that much because there aren't that many new things that I want. However, I wouldn't mind a new ipod. However I have already got two ipods from my aunt so I am not expecting to get a new one, and if I did get one I wouldn't know what to do with the ipod that I already got. What I want even more than a video ipod is one of the new mac minis that Apple is probably going to announce at the Mac-Expo. That would be totally awsome, especially if they decrees the price a $100 so it could be competitive with the Xbox 360. I am really looking forward to all the new products that Apple is going to release. I read an article published by Think Secret that Apply may have made media agreements which would allow them to make videos, and TV shows available. You may not actually download the new media and instead you will have the media streamed to your computer. This will help keep space on your hard drive and you won't have to worry about loss of quality from downloading. We will find out more at the Mac-Expo.

ipod video, and Mac-Expo

In October Apple announced the 5th generation ipod that could play video, and a update to Apple's flagship computer the iMac. Both of these products are a preview of what is to come.

I wrote the following paragraph in October and for some reason it got left as a draft, so I am publishing it now.

Wow, Apple did it. After all the rumors and Steve Jobs announcing that he would never make an ipod video, it happened. The new ipod is still not called the ipod video, "simply", it is just the fifth generation ipod, replacing the fourth generation white ipod. The new ipods are both thinner, than their predecessor the 20 GB white ipod and still comes in two sizes, 30 GB ($299) and 60 GB (399). Obviously, the big deal about the new ipod is it's ability to play video. Now, with itunes 6, users can download a load of video content from video podcasts to TV shows. Currently Apple only has 16 shows available from the itunes music store; including "Lost" and "Desperate House Wives". Steve Jobs suggested in his keynote that a 1 hour episode of "Lost" takes about 15-20 minutes to download if you have a high speed internet connection. A couple new features of the new itunes music store are the ability to preview and buy music videos, which cost $1.99 a piece and include both the video and the song. The new music videos can be downloaded and played on a the new ipod. A typical music video is about equivalent to 6 songs. Other feature of the new music store are the ability to gift songs and music videos, and write reviews. You can even review podcasts and video podcasts!

If all of this isn't enough there are still the rumors about the upcoming Mac-Expo. Apple may release a re-vamped version of the mac mini, which will include an intel base, a DVR Tivo killer, and Front Row 2.0. Plus Apple has been negotiating business deals for media content so we could see more media solutions available. This could be a very exiting year for Apple and expect a lot of great new products.

I just discovered google reader today. I don't have much experience with it but it looks pretty cool. You can subscribe to feeds and then I guess you get contents from those sites. I haven't actually tested it out yet so I am not exactly sure how well it works. Click here for the link.

I made this video for my advanced biology class. The video is a PSA for Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever, which is a nasty disease that kills about 1 in 3 people it infects. I just found an article on Business Week that talks about vlogging. You can read the article here. Also I discovered a new website that vloggers can use to upload their videos. It's called YouTube. You can upload your videos to the site for free and your video will be displayed on the front page. It is a good way to get a lot of people to see your work fast. Crunch Preview

A few weeks ago my dad, a friend from Canada, and I went to our launching site to fire off our water rocket. We had some difficulties getting the rocket up to pressure, the air was leaking out almost as fast as it was going in. We usually don't have this problem. We launched the rocket a couple of times, however one time it came down nose-first. The video is about 2 minutes long.

I am on itunes. If you have itunes 4.9 or later you can subscribe to my video podast. Apple released itunes 5 yesterday. Click here to download itunes 5. If you are not farmiliar with the new version of itunes in the lower left-hand conter of the screen you will see "Podcast Directory", with a grey circle and a white arrow in side of it. Click on the arrow to go to the podcast homepage. The page looks very similar to the itunes music store. If you type jason's vlog into the search bar in the left hand colum of the screen, you will find my video podcast, vodcast or vlog or whatever you want to call it. Then click on the free subscribe button. That's it. Or you could skip all of that and click on the itunes button in my link bar on the right hand colum of this page. Anyways I just thought it was cool that I made it onto itunes. Yepee. Also below this post is a short podcast about the new ipod nango, and itune phone. Does anyone know what nango means? I am also interested to hear peoples thoughts about the ipod nango and whether anybody thinks Apple will ever make a video ipod. Steve Jobs has vowed never to release an ipod video however he also said he would never make the switch to intel. Finally what are people opinions about what happened in New Orleans?

Ipod Nano

Yesturday Apple released another ipod, the ipod Nano. It comes in two sizes 2GB's ($199) and 4GB's ($249). Both ipods feature 14 hours of battery life, which should be enough for most users. The main pro of the new ipod is it's size. This ipod is small. It measure just 1.6 x 3.5 x 0.27 inches, and ways a mere 1.5 ounces. You can wear this ipod around your neck and forget that it is there. The ipod features a 1.5 inch color displays just like the ipod photos. It also sports a miniturized click wheel. Except for it's small size this ipod looks pretty much like an ipod photo. According to apple the 4GB model can hold 1000 songs and 25,000 photos. Although some music fan's collection might exceed this limit that is still a lot of music. I calculated that if the average song is 3 minutes long that your ipod could hold 50 hours of music. For those of you who have larger collection the photo ipods which come in either a 20GB or 60GB size should be able to contain your storage needs. The rumored video ipod has still not arrived however Motorola has introduced the MotoROKR, which is the first itunes phone. So now you can take your calls and listen to music at the same time. You can even pause a song when your phone rings so you won't miss a call.

Sony DCR-HC90 vs. Panasonic PV-GS250

Hi Everyone,

I am selling my camera on ebay and I am going to buy a new one. I have been looking at the Sony DCR-HC90 and Panasonic PV-GS250. My camera that I am selling is a Sony DCR-HC43E PAL. I like the camera and the image is great. I like the touch-screen and the ability to record in 16:9 widescreen. The Sony DCR-HC90 has similar features to this camera and seems like an improved version of the camera that I have. I don't know much about Panasonic cameras and I am wondering if I should think about buying the Panasonic instead. I want to use the camera to record my water rocket launchs and movies that I decided to make. I want the camera to be able to focus on a rocket while it is taking off and coming down. Also which camera would be the best at recording a high speed water rocket lift off? If anyone has an opions please make comments.

Water Rocket and RC Plane

Hi everyone. I haven't made a vlog post for a while. Yesturday my friend from Canada, my dad, and I went to our water rocket launch site and launched off our water rocket, and flew a remote control plane. We fly the remote control plane first. The wing had been previously damaged and we had tried to fix it with duc tape. Unfortunatly this didn't work and when I tried turning the plane the force on the wing was too much and the plane lost control. After this we decided to try the water rocket. At first the water rocket didn't work. The rocket bound on the launch tube and couldn't take off. We decided that my dad should go home and get some oil so the rocket wouldn't bind on the launch tube and buy a new wing from the hobby shop for the rc plane. When he got back we launched the rocket. We were having trouble pumping up the rocket and were only able to get it to about 40 psi. The rocket launch and went about 200ft. in the air and backglided. Backgliding is when the rocket floats slowly down on it's side. After launching we figured out that one of the fittings on our launcher wasn't screwd in all the way and that's why we could get a very high pressure. On our second launch we fixed this problem and took the rocket to 60 psi. The rocket fly about 300ft. The rocket took off at an angle and began to backglide. Then when it was about 100ft off the ground it nose-dived into the earth. The rocket was damaged from the impact, however we put the rocket on the launcher and popped out the nose-cone, which had been crushed. We decided to do one more launch with only air and this time the rocket backglided. After this my friend and I took turns flying the rc plane. I flew it once then gave the controls to my friend. He flew the rocket with full throttle into the ground and the wing broke in two. On the way home we purchased a new wing. A video will be coming soon.

If you are having problems playing my vlog post you probably need to download the latest version of Quicktime Player. You can download Quicktime Player 7 for Windows from Apple's Quicktime website. Click here to go to the site. When the webpage opens there will a button that says "Free Download". Below it will be another link that says "New Quicktime 7 for Windows public preview now availble". Click on this link to download Quicktime 7. Then follow the on screen instructions. Once you have downloaded Quicktime 7 you should be able to play my vidoes. I hope this works.
