This year for Comic Con I did a limited edition Ninja Joe the Egg doll. Only 1000 made. Last year I did the Vampire Mr Toast and he sold out. So if anyone wants a Ninja Joe and can't make it to the show, let me know. I will be selling them for $10 + shipping.

Crazy 4 Cult 3D

Each year Gallery 1988 has the Crazy 4 Cult show in which the artists do their take on classic cult films. This year I went with Napoleon Dynamite and these are the results. The show opens this Thursday night and runs until August 8th. The list of participating artists is long and amazing.

It is less then 2 weeks until Comic Con. Once again this year I am in booth 4831 and right across from me are Spicy Brown and Conduct Happiness (the Pea people).

We are in the process of making a special edition poster for the show with all our characters poolside. I will post a pic of the poster when it is done. So aisle 4800 is going to be the place to be July 23-26.

Anime Expo

Well it is Anime Expo time again. This is a photo of my booth from last year and this year I will have even more stuff with me. I have plush, buttons, necklaces, books, art, comics and a few t-shirts.

Adventure Thru Inner Space

Adventure Thru Inner Space was always my favorite ride at Disneyland. It was so moody and unusual that it took you out of reality into a great constructed environment. Unlike the other rides that tried to replicate other time periods or locations, Inner Space took you to the microscopic world. Since that world is not observable visually, it has to represented in a new abstract language. And the Paul Frees soundtrack and crazy music just added to that wonderful experience.

Since it was such a strange attraction, Disneyland did not make many souvenirs other than a little booklet and a record. I have the giant attraction poster but have never gotten it framed. So in the end most of what is left of the ride is our memories and remembrances.

This weekend I wasa lucky enough to purchase a nice group of animation cels, drawings and concept art from Playhouse Pictures. Playhouse closed up their studio in LA a few years ago and it is great to pick up some of the art at the flea market.

Licensing Show

Yesterday I had a chance to visit the Licensing Show in Las Vegas. I just flew out for the day and hopped a shuttle over to the Mandalay Bay. In past years the show has been in NYC so this was a bit of a change. The show was pretty impressive with enormous booths for Mattel, Warner Brothers and a giant Smurf Village set up for Sony.

For the past 6 months or so, Mr Toast has been represented by Dark Horse Comics so they were giving out Mr Toast key chains and spreading the word. The show goes on for the next two days so hopefully a lot of new people will be introduced to Mr Toast.
