Everyone thinks "th...I love the age old RTS debate. Everyone thinks "their" game is the only one with "real" strategy. Its the same goddamn debate over and over again. Heard it when starcraft was released, heard it when war3 was released, starcraft vs TA vs RA vs Age of Empires. Blah blah blah. Shit you even heard it in War2 with people fighting over low vs high resources. Its so funny how these things just keep getting repeated and repeated over time.

What happens is people get really good at one game, they take it to the "next level" and see tons of depth in strategy in it. Then they try playing the other games and dont immedietly see its depth. Or they compare a game at release to games that have had years evolve strategiclly. Each of the popular RTS games are deep and have strategy in their own right. Its just comes in different forms.

And its fine to talk about and discuss these differences. But you are fool if you try to draw conclusions like "this game just sees who can click the fastest" or "this game requires no thought!". Just laughable. Even funnier is people try to say stuff like "all the top players agree, game X has the most strategy!". Like the top players opinions (if there even was a true concensus - which come on hardcore gamers never all agree on anything) were fact.

Dont get me wrong, its fine to have personal opinions and like and dislike the various games in the RTS genre for whatever reasons you choose. But when you try to mask your opinion as some kind of "fact" you just sound like an idiot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125520987005420792005-08-31T20:43:00.000Z2005-08-31T20:43:00.000Z..well isn't that a good thing, the person who has.....well isn't that a good thing, the person who has the highest degree of skill wins?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125515374643304232005-08-31T19:09:00.000Z2005-08-31T19:09:00.000Z"fastest clicker is most definately not the case"I..."fastest clicker is most definately not the case"

I'm a die hard blizzard fan, and what he is saying is not that far from the truth. Yes, the civ diversity was not that great but the amount of strategy a single civ could pull off was 20 times greater then Starcraft.

Just 1vs1 Arabia in feudal age had more Strategic depth then Starcraft. And that is only a small portion of the game. And yes, I consider Starcraft to be a good game, much better then that piece of crap Warcraft III. How people even consider that game a RTS is beyond me.

Warcraft III is decided by the fastest clicker. You could just as well launch a program that measures your APM and be done with it. The amount of thinking required is Nil.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125347928003042092005-08-29T20:38:00.000Z2005-08-29T20:38:00.000ZX3 i think, but really, im not interested in your ...X3 i think, but really, im not interested in your game-wishes... tell us something about poker ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125330612714468822005-08-29T15:50:00.000Z2005-08-29T15:50:00.000ZI wouldn't build any of these games up too much in...I wouldn't build any of these games up too much in your mind, as the only possible result will be dissapointment. Your standards are too high to be content with any of these B-titles. Your interest stems from a sense of nostalgia, not because you genuinely believe these games will be any good. They may share the name of the games you enjoyed in the past, but the experience playing them will be vastly different. That being said, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of StarCraft2.NikkFuriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08640978640672147168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125312657361452532005-08-29T10:50:00.000Z2005-08-29T10:50:00.000Ztiller I thought you were alpha testing sc2? is it...tiller I thought you were alpha testing sc2? is it not good..?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14973022.post-1125307485238406852005-08-29T09:24:00.000Z2005-08-29T09:24:00.000Zall the games u listed kinda suck, age of empires ...all the games u listed kinda suck, age of empires 2 was biggest joke ever.
