Nanoblocks are a miniature building system from Japan. To give you an idea of sizing, a standard 4 dot piece is only 8mm wide and 5mm high. I know a few die hard lego fans that would love to get their hand on some. Click here to see other models made up on flickr...so cute!

renovation - update

The kitchen's cleared out and ready to demolished for installation this week. We're probably looking at a few weeks until it's finished, we'll still need to wait for the caesar top and glass splashback to be made.

Next stop the kids rooms - Abbey just wants PINK, so I'm embracing her choice in the quilt cover but keeping my white walls. We've chosen this one from kideko with the red and pink hearts. It's not a terribily big room but it's got a high ceiling. So I've been thinking about what I could suspend from the roof, in the way of a canopy or mobile etc. In the end we've settled on a mass of chinese paper lanterns covered in butterflies from gilded bee. I've brought a mix of red, pink, orange and yellow butterflies and will be attaching them to red, pink and orange lanterns in various sizes. I think it will be quite magical, I share once it's finished. The boy just wants BLACK and skulls...god help me!

While I was browsing Sasha's shop I noticed she giving away a set of 100 butterflies. Of course I've entered, I sure we could find use for a few more...shadow boxes, gift packaging, attached to the wall, or a wooden bird cage...endless possibilities! I recently discovered the work of Melbourne illustrator, Belinda Strong via Lark handmade. I absolutely adore her work. The illustrations have a lovely retro feel, combined with her cheerful colour palette you can't help but smile. As soon as Bee's website downloads you know your in for a treat. Such a gorgeous front page design.

My pick is this limited edition 'Odette' print that'll tie in perfectly with the bright bed linen that we've settled on from Kideko.

How divine is this recently launched underwear range by Bluebelle? Made from organically grown bamboo cotton, they're super soft and come in a great range of sizes too! It's lovely to see a range that's playful and fun but also maintains a little girls modesty. I'm not quite ready for my six year old to be sporting a crop top, there's plenty of time for that.

Today I visited Mathilda's market at it's new Sydney venue, Paddington Town Hall. I had planned on doing a full report, but as luck would have it my camera batteries failed after the first two stalls. I'm glad I get to share this new newcomer with you though. Lucia's stall just pulled you in with it's bold colour and divine items made from felt. I especially loved the little felt houses with little dolls inside and the crocheted bags with a dolly attached were also very sweet. Next stop was my friend Sarah of Gifts Created. Sarah never ceases to amaze me, every time I see her at a market she has a new product to share. Her creativity and energy seems to be endless! And she's such a gorgeous person to boot.

As much as I love to see handmade at markets. I must admit as a shopper I enjoyed the mix between handmakers and bigger brands. In one place I got to touch and feel some bedlinen that I'm eyeing off for the kidsroom makeovers. Pick up some Frankie Ray's for the present cupboard for a 1/3 of the regular price, grab a present for a little friend and buy myself a gorgeous swallow necklace. A very good day in my books.

kitchen renos

In the last year we've been toying with the idea of moving. But with the kids in school, you're sort of limited to where you can move too! So with nothing catching our eye, we've decided to stay put and renovate.

First up is the kitchen, it's not exactly an old kitchen. But it was put in quickly, at low cost with the intention to sell. One good thing is I've had 10 years to think about what I would of done. So armed with a pile of Magazine cut outs and some great ideas from our kitchen designer. I think we've come up with a plan that will give us more storage, clean lines and some solutions to my pet hate bench top clutter!

I just need to decide on what colour for my glass spashback....then it's onto the kid's bedrooms.

Thinking about my sister who's currently travelling around South America. Just got an email she's in Iguazu waiting for a bus to Buenos Aires. Tonight we'll look up the atlas, the kids are having fun following them on the map from place to place.

I love the idea of a family tree. Here's are few I came across on Etsy. I'm drawn to the one by pixel and post, I'm thinking one for each of the kids in colours that co-ordinate with their bedrooms. That smiling house, just kills me.

While on the hunt for a replacement cake stand (thanks for all your help by the way- I'm getting close, I've got a store trying to source the same one) I came across some stunning pieces on Etsy, two shops caught my eye. It's such a shame the postage is a killer!
