The Sky Cooper Prize will be awarded annually to either an established or emerging playwright for an outstanding new work. The play selected as the Sky Cooper winner will receive a full production at Marin Theatre Company as part of the theatre’s annual season and will be given regional and national promotion. In addition, the playwright receives a $10,000 award, as well as travel and accommodations for the MTC rehearsal period.

GUIDELINES
Plays must be full-length in any genre: comedy, drama, etc. Musicals, translations, individual one-acts, and any play previously submitted for the Sky Cooper or David Calicchio Prizes are not eligible. Plays that have had a workshop, reading, or non-professional production are still eligible. Playwrights must be citizens of the United States. This year's festival theme, “Across the Divide,” will explore the geographical divide between the United States and Latin America as well as the infamous “gender divide.” We are therefore looking for plays that pertain to Latino immigration and/or Latina women's issues. We ask that submissions call for minimal set, a maximum of three actors and run 15 – 45 minutes in length.

To submit electronically, please e-mail a copy of your play to al@teatrodelpueblo.org with “PTF 2010 Play Submission” in the subject line.

You may also mail a hard copy of your play to:
Teatro del Pueblo
PTF 2010 Play Submission
209 Page Street W. #213
St. Paul, MN 55107

All submissions must be postmarked no later than September 15th, 2009. There is no submission fee. Previously produced plays are fine, as long as they have not been staged in the Midwest in the past five years.

Nancynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14909749.post-40835843546925178522009-06-19T01:11:00.002-04:002009-06-19T01:20:26.901-04:00Monologue Project

Videos for the Monologue Project coming soon - read more about the Project here.

Nancynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14909749.post-36335356462948926152009-06-19T00:05:00.000-04:002009-06-18T23:27:10.449-04:00On HiatusNYCPlaywrights meetings are now on hiatus. In an effort to boost ticket sales on Thursdays, a traditionally slow night, we began the practice of combining 2-for-1 tickets with a post show talkback. After one particular Thursday Q&A, a gentleman none of our company had known previously approached me and remarked "You look very familiar.....did I see you doing a monologue on a website for a group called NYC Playwrights?" I confirmed that it was indeed me. I further said that I was very impressed and happy that people were finding the site and choosing to explore it further!

The moral of the story is twofold: Technology today is virtually erasing the chasms in local, and even global communication in the click of a mouse, making your impact immediate and far reaching. However, whatever you choose to put out there in the endless cyberworld had better be good! You just never never know who may be watching! :)

watch Mike's performance of Peter Nicholl's monologue A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO here...

Nancynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14909749.post-74522253992968339802009-06-11T20:24:00.000-04:002009-06-11T20:25:12.504-04:00Discovering Hamlet with Branagh and Jacobi

Nancynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14909749.post-17757546974844492992009-06-09T13:14:00.002-04:002009-06-09T15:08:35.140-04:00flour city theatre company seeks submissionsflour city theatre company currently accepting submissions for September 2009 production, "Rochester Stories."

Whether you live in the Rochester area or not, we are looking for stories set in, or are about, Rochester, New York. We are looking for a piece of theatre which will resonate with the audience tomorrow and ten years from tomorrow.

Our company is in residence at the Odyssey Theatre, but we have produced plays at several theaters across Los Angeles.
