That JFK speech was written by a speechwriter named Ted Sorensen. And unlike JFK, who had his books ghostwritten for him, Nixon actually wrote his 11 books (as well as most of his speeches), including the acclaimed "Six Crises." He had a paranoid personality, but many very smart people have strange personalities.
