Fantastic Friday Challenge is Red, White and Blue!!!

The challenge over on Korin's blog was to use the colors Red, White and Blue to celebrate our Nation's b-day!! I know that the challenge is over today but I made this card the day I got this stamp in the mail but wanted to wait until it was actually the 4th of July to post it!!! But I did send it to Korin to look at!! (LOL) As soon as I seen this image I wanted it!! I think it is darling and my parents are big on (sail)boating so I thought I could make some cards with her for them. After I had finished the card I thought her hands looked weird so I wanted to put a sign in her hands. Didn't know what but then seen this USA stamp I had from a July 4th set and it was the perfect size!! The flower and corner stamp is from Stempelglede's grunge collection!! (I love it!!)

The Great Outdoors..

...is the challenge over at CCT this week!! I cannot believe it is challenge #17!! I went with a new stamp from Sarah Kay!! I am just loving these stamps. I am so mad because I stamped the sentiment evenly with the fold down flap and only after I stamped did I realize the flap was not folded at a perfect 90 degree angle so now the sentiment is crooked!! (UGH)

Ink: Black Staz-on, distressed inks and Derwent watercolor pencils
Accessories: Ribbon from Micheals (probably sick of it but it is the only "shabby" ribbon I could find and the kids get antsy after 10 minutes! Brads ~ ctmh, pearl brad ~ Micheals.

It really is a good thing that Micheals is walking distance from my house!! The girls and I walk down there and then they are a little tired from walking so they aren't running all over the place in the store because they are bored!! (BONUS) Also they have set up their Halloween (I know!!) decorations and I tell them they have to behave then I will take them to see the decorations. Works like a charm!! What a bad mom ~ hey when they are with me 24/7 I have to do what I have to do!!

A kiss for Chloe!!!

I got my Sarah Kay!! YIPPEE!! I went to Korin's house yesterday to help get all the stamps packed and ready to go to the post office so they would be all out before her vacation!! So everyone you should be getting them soon!!
I only got 4 of them and after seeing them all in person I think I am going to have to get the rest! They are adorable and stamp so nice!
I decided to make a card for my husband to let him know how much I love him!! (He needs it today!!) I thought "A Kiss for Chloe" would be perfect! I seen this stampset on Camilla's blog and had to get it!! She has the most unique style and I LOVE it!! The embellishments and placement of her embellishments are always perfect!! So I got my set and made this card with inspiration from her blog!! (I just hope I did it justice! LOL) I used 4 different stamps from this set all on one card!! I distressed everything and when I colored in my image it was too bright and clean so I stamped another set of hats, patches and her bows and distressed the edges and then added them on. I like how it turned out!!

Friday Sketchers #8

...is a yet another beautiful sketch by Beatrix! (I love her sketches!) I needed to make my niece a birthday card and since she is traveling to Texas and Oklahoma from New York for about 1 month I thought the Cowgirl image from Sugar Nellie, designed by Elisabeth Bell, was perfect. I thought to put Happy Trails on the outside and Happy Birthday on the inside! I also wanted to cut out the horse and mount him on foam squares to make him look closer. Now sure if I got the look I wanted but still looks alright! I wanted a flower in the center of the large pink one but didn't have one to match so I colored in a white with the distress inks then gave it a waterbath. I like how it came out kinda tye-dyed!
I got my order from Funkykits today and can't believe I resisted using one of them!! (Only because I had this started and in my head!!) There is always Monday! Anyway heading to Hershey Park tomorrow!! Should have alot of fun the girls are so excited!! Well thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a great week-end!!

Something different!!

I decided to try Kazan's sketch #3 out from 2sketches4you. I got some lovely Prima Papers from Sweet 'n Sassy and wanted to give them a try. I love the look to Kazan's sketches and finally tried it out. It came out so much different than anything I usually make but I had a ball playing around with it! I also added a score line around the whole outside of the card! Of course I still used my glitter pen and some primas!! I also used some glitter paper (forgot who makes it), prima paper, cranberry CS from CTMH and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. I went over all the flowers and such with my glitter pen. You can't see it from the first picture so that is why I added the 2nd picture. It is much more obvious in that one!!

No Patterned Paper...

...is the theme this week at Cute Card Thursday! Sounds easy but not for me!! I LOVE patterned paper!!! But when I seen the sketch over at SCS it seemed like the perfect sketch for this challenge! I used garden green, goldrush, hollyhock and chocolate cardstock from Close To My Heart. I ran it through the swiss dot cuttlebug folder and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces. I went for simple on this card to focus on the cute image (and one of my favorite) that Fran sent me!! (Thanks so much again Fran for the adorable images!!) Ribbon is from Micheals and flowers are primas. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Checks Galore!!

..is the challenge today at A Spoonful Of Sugar. Well mine is not checks galore because the only check paper I could find is the paper I have used on the past two cards I made!! I didn't want to use the same paper again!!! So I used this Basic Grey paper and the one piece had a somewhat check design on it so I went with that. Then I stamped a check design on the yellow paper to make sure I got some "true" checks in there. I cut some diecuts for the flowers using my Cuttlebug and the sentiment is from Papertrey ink. I had to paint a spot in yellow so I could stamp a visible sentiment. I again went over the outside of my flowers with the glitter pen. I have used a sketch by Katharina. She has a bunch of beautiful sketches on her blog that are so worth looking at!! I colored my Sugar Nellie image in with prismas and gamsol! I also colored the flowers in with some paint to match the yellow!! The ticket is a stamp from Autumn Leaves.

..was a beautiful and challenging sketch by guest DT Malin. I had gone to JoAnn's to pick up some ribbon and found these 70% off!!
I totally loved them both and they were the last ones left!! Not usually my luck! But I showed this because that was my inspiration for my "shabby" card!!

I made the base of it but then had the hardest time finding the right image to go on it!! I went through 3 different ones. The problem was I didn't have the exact magenta color to match and it was really irking me!!! Finally figured this went on long enough and just stuck with this Sarah Kay image. The paper is from the K & Co. Classic K paper pad. The flowers are from a cuttlebug diecut. i went around the outside with my glitter pen. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and it says Count your Blessings. It is tough to see as they are pretty little sentiments. I really enjoyed creating the layout with this sketch though!!
This is late as we had a bad thunderstorm last night and the power went out!! So here I finally got it up!!

Stamp something @ Our Creative Corner!!

I was trying to be catchy with my title!! I made a single card for these two challenges. The wonderful sketch was from Stamp something and the 2nd challenge at Our Creative Corner is to use at least 1 brad and 1 button!! I actually went with 3 of each!! I tend to work in threes! I needed to make a baby boy card and this is what I came up with. I don't have too much masc. paper but I thought this paper from K & Co. was great!! It gave it a kinda shabby chic look to it!! I love that look and hope she likes it too!! Image is a Sugar Nellie and I colored it in with prismas and gamsol. Today colors worked out great for me. I happened to receive yesterday some Twinkling H2O's and it had this teal color in it so I went over some spots with that. I didn't want the polkadots black so I went through my paint to see the colors I had! (Tip from Artfully Ila) I found this green that matched the polkadot patterned paper perfectly!! (Say that 3 times fast!) I was so excited!! I love when that happens. I also went over the cheeks and ears with the twinkling h2o's and liquid glass. The sentiment was stamped on with individual alphabet stamps from Studio G. The alphabet circle stamp I had laying around!! (Do not know the origin!!) Brads are Heidi Grace and the ribbon is from Cosmo Cricket. I went over some spots with my glitter pen!!

Beach Turtles!!

I got two challenges into this card. With this beautiful weather we are having I have limited time indoors. I used the wonderful sketch from Mumur for Friday Sketchers. I just rotated it to give me the longer thinner panel for my image. The theme over at Cute Card Thursday this week is Birthdays.
The prize at CCT is a b-day kit from my good friend Korin at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.
For my card I have pulled out my Gretel paper from Cosmo Cricket. I wanted more earthy colors. The Enjoy sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and the other is from Studio G. I also stamped some clouds with distress ink. I punched a flower out and stamped the mesh from Weathered backgrounds (CTMH) over it then went over some lines with my glitter pen. I have also used paper ribbon from K & Co. I colored the image in with distress inks and twinkling h2o's!! .I went over the seashells, toenails and water foam with my white gel pen. I thought it needed something else so I put some faux stitching on the side!! (Will have to stick with that as the actually sewing machine intimidates me!!)

While browsing Laurie's blog Just give me stamps.. I seen she is part of another challenge blog that began on Saturday!! I look at her blog all the time and knew I needed to check out the challenges. It is called Our Creative Corner and this week's challenge was a sketch. I love sketches so I had to try this one out!!
I used Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl paper along with cranberry CS from CTMH. The sentiment stamp is from Stampin' up. I colored in the image with distressed inks and went over parts with my glitter pen and some stickles! (Of course) Flowers are primas and the brads are from my stash. I ran the top and bottom parts of the red panel through the cuttlebug and them sanded.
Thanks for the challenge and I can't wait to see if I have the "product" for Saturday's challenge!! BTW ~ All are beautiful cards for inspiration!!

Celebrations

..is the theme over at A Spoon Full of Sugar. As long as it is celebrating something and you have a Sugar Nellie image your set.This challenge worked out great again! I needed to make a b-day card for along time friend and it helped me to pick out my image! I don't know about anyone else but I have a very hard time just making a card if it is not for a specific reason or person! I have to make it for someone or I just can't make one!! (Good thing I have a very big family!) Am I the only one like this????
Anyway I just LOVE coloring these Elisabeth Bell images in and I cannot wait to get my hands on more!! Did you see the adorable Christmas ones!! UGH between those stamps and the Hanglar and Stanglar ones Funkykits is going to get 1/2 my husband's paycheck!! AND I will be getting a divorce! (LOL) Well it wouldn't really be funny but worth it!! (Just kidding) Anyway though I seen if you have suggestions for stamp ideas she acts on them!! I suggested picnics and she mentioned my name on her blog!! I was actually blushing I think!!!
Back to the card! (Can you tell I am extremely over~tired) Paper is from Basic Grey's Perhaps pad. The ribbon is from Micheals, flower is a prima and the sentiment is from CHF. I ran the thin strip of orange through the paisley cuttlebug embossing folder. I put the sentiment on acetate and rubbed the edges on white ink but it is hard to see in the photo. The white rub-ons are from CTMH. I filled them in with my pink glitter pen! I also had to cut out another flower and place it up on top of the other because it didn't stamp well but I think it turned out good!

..is a sketch by Kianel! The catch is you have to use it on the inside of your card!! The option is to have at least one pop-up! This turned out to be a good thing!! I have never done one before and I needed a card for a 1 year old boy!! How perfect he would love something like this!! Thanks Kianel ~ have been sitting on this card for awhile and now finally had an idea! Instead of ribbon and flowers I went with a strip pf pp and balloons. I went over the balloons with liquid glass and added some crystal snow to give it a slight sparkle! I fiqured at the age of one any kid would find the sparkle amusing!! The images are from CTMH. Paper is DCWV. And the sentiments are from CHF. Here is the front:

Friday Sketchers challenge #6

...already!! I cannot believe how time flies!! This week the sketch is by Jacqueline from the Netherlands!! The DT cards are amazing!! I love looking at their cards to see the variations!! My varies alittle in that I have used an oval in place of a circle. My circle punch was not big enough for this Rachelle Anne Miller image so I had to go with my oval nestibilities. Paper is S.E.I.'s Dill Blossom from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. The flowers are primas and the ribbon was from the $1 ribbon at Micheals. The sentiment is just printed from my computer. I made this card for my husband as a reminder that he is still the one that I would pick to be the father of my children!! (He always asks if you could go back would you still have married me...) I thought he would appreciate this card!!

Cute card Thursday #14

This week's challenge is to use 3 embellishments! Which is easy for me because I tend to go overboard anyway! (LOL) I wanted to use these papers and only had a bit left so I decided to do the kickstand card. Papers are Fancy Pants Designs, flowers are primas, frosted baubles are Stampingbella and the sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I have been seeing this pretty jewels in the center of alot of flowers lately and just needed to have some too!! I went to Micheals and all I found were these jewelry spacers. Not quite as pretty as the others I have seen but I rather like the way it looks. I also got a couple Derwent watercolor pencils for $1.00 and that is how I colored in my image. AND of course I added some white gel pen marks and glitter pen on the sentiment!!

The Spoonful of Sugar challenge..

...is a recipe!! Besides using a Sugar Nellie image you have to have 3 brads or buttons, 2 patterned papers and 1 flower!! This was fun ~ I think it is the first time I followed a "recipe" instead of a theme or sketch.
I was browsing the Cornish Heritage Farms DT blogs debating if I wanted the new stampset and I found this card! I so loved it and that is how I came up with my card for the challenge. I have been seeing Claudia make such pretty cards with this paper so I dug mine out! It is from the DCWV nursery stack! (Before I started blogging these colors are really the only colors I used to make my cards!!) Now after seeing all your beautiful blogs it really has opened my eyes to using other colors!! To get the hole in the middle of the card I put my tan mat on the inside of the card and ran it through the cuttlebug. It did not cut it but left an embossing mark so I just cut following the lines that it made. I did not have a bigger oval so I had to cut off part of the cat. That is why I stamped him again and attached him to the outside.
Ribbon is from Micheal's, flower is prima and the button and brads are from my stash. The sentiment is from Crafty Secrets. I colored in my image with distress inks. Oh and the pin is Heidi Grace.

...is another beautiful sketch by Beatrix!! The option was to use only 2 or 3 colors!! If you don't count the color of her jeans I did it!! (LOL) I tried to keep the sketch as is but with her legs hanging down I thought it looked better flipped on its side!! Paper is Basic Grey, flowers are primas, rub-ons are from my stash and the pink dots are from StampingBella. I am so proud of myself that I used only minimal stickles and put the gel pen only on the sentiment!! Just like with my Mountain Dew I am weaning myself!! Pretty soon I won't need it anymore!! And the paper ribbon from K & Co. you won't see anymore cause my white is all gone!! (LOL)

Tilda and Co. challenge ~ Swirls

The challenge today was to use swirls!! I love using swirls so that was a nice challenge! I am trying (Stress trying) to use up paper I have instead of buying more so I used this K & Co. paper. I am not sure if it is too busy or not, yet but it is late and I will think more clearly in the morning. The swirls are K & Co. rub-ons as is the paper ribbon. The buttons are SEI. I acquired the images from a swap! I think this Tilda is so cute and am surprised I have not used her yet!! The sentiment is a rub-on also but from DCWV.

I just have to show you this picture. My 6 year old lost her front tooth 2 days ago. The one next it it was bothering her so she ripped out the other one!! With her mouth closed she looks like a sweet little girl but when she does her evil laugh and shows off her teeth she looks like a juvenile delinquent!! It is just cracking me up!! (Can you tell this is our first child losing teeth!)

Cute Card Thursday #13

This week's challenge at CCT is to make a Christmas card! If this doesn't give me the push I need I don't know what else will!! I am the person who waits to the last minute and panics making up cards!! I should start making 1 a week!! At first I thought this was going to be a problem because Christmas is like the only time I don't do cute!! BUT then I remembered my H&S images from Marlene's blog candy! I have been wanting to use some of these wintery images. I matted the main image on bazzil bling cardstock. The only patterned paper I used was a thin strip of green from Basic Grey's figgy pudding. Ribbon is from Micheal's, flowers are primas and the rub-ons are creative imaginations. I like the flowers because it looks like it has snow on it!! I colored the image in with prismapencils and gamsol. I went over the fluffy look with liquid applique and added glitter before I heat it to get it puffy. I used stickles for her wings. The white cs is cryogen white and has a light sparkle (hard to notice) on it!! I love that stuff! I ran it through my fav tool at the moment - my cuttle bug!! Has anyone seen the new ones coming out??? I got a couple. I have to wait til August but I am so excited!! I got an argyle one that is too cute, a pumpkin one for Halloween and a birthday one with candles!!
