My father was from Pike county in eastern Kentucky and early in his ministry he pastored a church just across the state line in Williamson, West Virginia. His father, who started out a circuit riding mule preacher...preached the gospel for over sixty years thoughout the mountains of coal country Kentucky! My heart goes out to all the miners' families in the loss of their loved ones!!!

I've been in New York State for a week now, meandered over into Vermont this afternoon... they've got farms with barns, and old churchs all over the place!!!
This morning I was in a town called Cambridge, NY when I noticed a grapevine clinging to a barbed wire fence...it had sent runners out all over the place, and each of these runners had several small finger like appendages growing out of the vine where the leaves grew.
Their only purpose it seemed was to give support to the vine by wrapping and anchoring themselves tightly around the wire...even though it was barbed!!!
Lord, help me to wrap tightly around and be anchored to you, so that I can give support to others on the vine...to those who bear fruit, to those with green leaves and to those who would gaze upon your small wonders!!! Thinking Kingdom, Layton Howerton

Name that cat!!! As I last posted our cat, Pearl, had met with an untimely ending to all of her nine lives!!! After much grief, sorrow and the absence of kitty litter it seems that an orphan has made her way into our hearts requiring not only love, food and deworming but also a name...so name that cat!!! Pearl...... I'm gonna miss ol' Pearl! I'm gonna miss the way she'd lay around all day and stay up all night. I'm gonna miss the way she'd longingly look out the windows, and stare out in wonder at the world. I'm gonna miss her playfulness, her curiosity, pesterin' me for attention and talkin' to her. Yep, I'm gonna miss that ol' black cat. She was good company, better than most folks, and she weren't no trouble at all. God loves all His creatures great and small. Peaches! I love fresh peaches. I'll be travelin' today so I'm gonna be on the lookout for one a those roadside stands along life's highway. Except this time, instead of driving on by, wishin' I'd stopped, thinkin' about how gooooood those peaches looked......I'm gonna stop, have a little conversation, and eat some peaches. Not long ago I was driving through rural Nebraska on Highway 20 when I noticed something I hadn't seen in awhile. Almost everyone that passed by me going the other direction...waved! People I don't even know waved at me. Some lifted just a finger or two off the streering wheel, some, their entire hands in an openly friendly gesture. Others nodded their heads.
