Just from picking up a thread on Facebook about a new TV series , here I am waiting and downloading patiently this new series called The Vampire Diaries. The sad thing is that I have all 8 episodes in my iPod for viewing pleasure on the go! Hahaha. Cheap thrills I know. I find Bad Vamp Damon hot. It's like watching Twilight on a weekly basis. Yum. Hahaha. At least the female lead is prettier than Bella. Hehehe.
Speaking of Twilight how many more days before the premier? Have to get my Twilight Girls Cousins to go and watch with me. You know who you are. =) I'm like a teenager all giddy and excited!

Because I have been so busy, I forgot about all my shows. Luckily I was able to get almost all in one day. Yipee! Still have to look for the rest of my shows. Guess what?! I got the flu so perfect time to curl up in bed and watch. Marathon-ly watch! hahahaha.

LITTLE STEPS

Inspired by INDIGO Baby's entry of WAYS to be GREEN. I realized that I have been taking these steps in whatever way I can. I must admit that it's darn hard to convince my family to make that switch. But I will still do MY part for the least. For the past two years, I have been an authorized reseller of Indigo Baby. I believe in their parenting and eco-friendly values that go hand in hand that will later transcend to our children and hopefully to our children's children for the benefit of Mother Earth. I have become pretty passionate about this and as I have said before have chosen to be conscious about the products I use.

I have always believed that natural and organic is the best way to go. For a time, it was hard to find these all natural products that were readily available. I mean, I don't think groceries or major supermarkets carry them yet. However, because of this GO GREEN bandwagon, there have been many local small businesses and manufacturers that have taken those steps and producing excellent products and services.

Daily Rituals. We all take a bath at least once a day right? Please say you do =). Your choice of Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Feminine Wash, Deodorant, Shaving Cream, Toothpaste, Mouth Wash, Toner, Make up, and the daily list goes on and on, gets washed down into our water systems. We all know that ALL will lead to the ocean whether you like it or not. So why not use environmentally safe and sustainable products in our daily life? Can you just imagine the impact that it will make to our ONE and ONLY Mother Earth?? It's really simple actually. It's just about making that conscious effort. Don't you think?

Laundry. I live with my mom (my father just passed away after a long battle with stage four lung & renal cancer), and my 10 year old son. My dad has a younger brother who has been a vegetable for almost 32 years due to a car accident. He lives with us now. Then, there is this guy who lives here too but he is totally useless in all aspects. We have 4 household helpers, 3 midwives that take round the clock shifts, and a driver that stays in. That makes it a total of 12 of people. Can you just imagine the water bill? Out of those 12, I bet only 2 or 3 really make a conscious effort and I know I am one of them. I buy Plantex Green Detergent and Fabric Softener and sometimes I buy Victoria detergent and laundry bars. I super love the smell of Plantex. It's only P155/kilo for detergent and P125 for the fabric softener. Victoria's detergent is only P125 per kilo. But this is only used for my clothes, my son's clothes, out towels (hand and bath), bathroom rugs. Why?? Because I am the only one who makes that conscious effort. I will go out of my way to buy these rather than just grabbing the more convenient TIDE or SURF or ARIEL. I tried making my mom SWITCH the detergent that everyone uses but NOOOOOOOOOOO, the yayas have to list down TIDE in the grocery list. She just grabs the list and goes. BUT, I have made it a STRICT and CLEAR RULE to the labandera to use ONLY eco-friendly products for us. And she knows that she can't fool me. I know the smell too well. A reason why too I'm itching to have my own place.

All Purpose Cleaner. I found Plantex Green All Purpose Cleaner and the ratio is 1:20. Hmm, does it or will it really get clean?? Just to make sure make it 1:10 when mixing the all purpose cleaner. It works on EVERYTHING! But, here goes my problem again, the yayas still use AJAX or DOMEX. I have literally put their faces and noses on the ingredients of these nasty health threatening junk and have repeatedly told them to STOP buying them. Still my mom buys because it's listed. ARGH!!! I even bought 5 or 6 bottles of the Plantex Green for each bathroom of the house. Guess what, there are hardly used. Well, at least my bathroom is certified green. The yaya who cleans my bathroom knows that I will have a fit if I catch her using AJAX or DOMEX. She knows I know the smell. Plantex Green All Purpose Cleaner is P105/1liter to be used 1:10 ratio. P10.50 pesos. That's CHEAP!

Even Jive my horse uses eco-friendly products. I use Victoria Bar for her baths. I make a water vinegar earth friendly dish washing liquid for her fly spray too.

Kitchen. I have tried. I buy Thifty which is an eco friendly dish washing soap. Guess what? I find an unopened bottle under the kitchen sink and I see the AXION or JOY on the sink of both the main kitchen and the dirty kitchen. WTF?!!! I'm dying to hear their explanation. I was about to buy another bottle today but I remembered that there was still an unopened one. See why I need my own place??

Electricity. Unplug. Unplug. Unplug. At least my mom's yaya unplugs my mom's hair dyer and small electric fan daily. I unplug everything except my wireless phone and tv. The rest I make sure that there is nothing attached to the electrical sockets. I know for a fact that the pest that lives here doesn't give a damn about anything. He leaves the computer on 24 hours even though he is not even home to the point that I have to irritatingly remind my mom to tell him off. His fan and tv and cellphones are all on even though there is no one there. This is the kicker, he freaking leaves the freezer of the small refrigerator door opened because he dementedly thinks that the drinks will get colder. He is mentally ill. For the past two days, the ref door has been left slightly opened. I have to close it properly. I feel like putting electrical tape around it already! My mom just threatens him if he doesn't shape up but to him it doesn't matter. A little carino he thinks will make my mom forget or at least let his foolish ways pass. Hahaha. NOT when I'm around. Hey, he doesn't pay for electricity. Mahiya hiya naman siya.

Well, that's all I can think of as of now. Gosh, it's 12:59am already. In all of this, it is really a CONSCIOUS EFFORT for SAVE our ONE and ONLY Home. Earth. Do you part in saving the earth, we only have one.

GREEN FRUSTRATIONS

Over and over again, I have told our household staff that there are many harmful chemicals in cleaning products. Just recently, I was able to convince my mother to switch our laundry detergent to Plantex Green or Victoria. She was happy to comply but the last time I accompanied her, actually to make sure she doesn't grab the usually TIDE and DOMEX and AJAX just because it was easier, she got a 2.5 kilos of Tide only because it was cheaper than Plantex Green by a few pesos. I couldn't argue with her simply because she was paying. It's a good thing that it was only 1 pack that she bought. I gave strict instructions to the labadera and yaya to only use Plantex for our(Luis & I) clothes and bath towels, bedsheets, etc. They can use whatever they want for themselves but as long as there is eco friendly cleaning materials, use it right? I have told my mom that I will even go out of my way to buy environmentally friendly cleaning products just for the sake of our planet. What's a few minutes and detour? Time that I have too.

Because these helpers have their "nakasanayan" cleaning rituals, it really hard to make them understand that CHEMICALS are bad. A few months ago, my beagle died. Poison was the cause of death. Some helpers say it was the driver because the dog bit him and the driver poisoned him, others say that it was the previous labandera who would get a high from I do not know what. Now, that I think about it, it was probably the Clorox bleach that they were using to mop the floors. I mean, who knows right?? Since Hunter was in the dirty kitchen most of the time, he probably was inhaling all that Clorox while the helpers were trying to make the kitchens spotlessly clean. I confiscated the GALLON size of Clorox because for the nth time, my house shirt was stained with Clorox. I had to tell them that it was a good thing that it was a house shirt and not a going out shirt which many know, I do not have much of. I was fuming!! Don't even get my started with Luis's school shirts. School shirts that have not yet been pain for. What is their reply? "Sorry" Sorry does not fix the stained clothes, sorry does not buy a new shirt. "Kasi natapon ...." The only concrete thing to do is confiscate it. If I had my way, Ill throw it away. I told my mom to STOP buying bleach even if it is listed in the grocery list. I have my eyes keen too because these helpers think that they can outsmart you by buying small packets of Zonrox or even Muriatic ACID! They must hate me now because I'm changing all their "nakasanayan" products. I gallon sized Zonrox is in my room hidden in a waste basket which I have to change from time to time. I emptied all their small containers too.

This morning when I woke up, the yaya who cleans my bathroom was taking longer than usual to answer me who was cleaning my bathroom. Why??? She was using AJAX cleanser to scrub my bathroom tiles when she knows very well, that I have Plantex Green All Purpose Cleaner under my sink cabinet! FURIOUS!!!! I said, "Kung hindi kaya ng solution na tinimpla ko, gamitin mo yung puro." (If the cleaning solution that I made does not clean enough, then use the solution pure." You know, my allergies started to react. I was itching and this sensation was starting to creep up my legs. ARGH!!!! I swear, if only I was not disabled, I would really really would rather have no helpers. Ang titigas ng ulo. (Hard headed) Hay, like what they say and I'm sure I have said this so many times, You can't live with them, you can't live without them. I label their cleaning products and what they are for. Then I notice that the bottles are being used. Why? Sira... or ubos na. Hay!!!!! Then ask for more. Or tell when they are broken so I can replace them. I better end this before my blood pressure hits the roof again.

HONOR GUARDS

Standing for more than 8 hours under the rain, sun, things being thrown at you, on a moving truck, not moving, is commendable indeed. I'm glad that ANC's Top Story was able to interview 3 of the 4 honor guards this evening. Given the fact that they were given the honor to guard President Cory's remains until her final resting place, these men endured all this without a budge. Here are their names. Antonio CADIENTE, Gener LAGUINDAM, Edgardo RODRIGUEZ, Danilo MAALA.

Their funny stories about their trip makes one realize how that when really want and need to do something, it can be done. One was dying to pee, the other make sure he went to the bathroom before boarding the truck, and one was wondering how he was going to get off the truck after his legs have stiffened up. Hahahaha... Funny! Pinoy talaga every thing just becomes a joke. =)

So much has been happening that I don't have time to really sit down and blog about anything. I do have time to post pictures. But even that is so limited. I have to back track and see what I have been doing these past months.

I stayed up til 4:30am watching the live telecast of Michael Jackson's Memorial service. I couldn't help but cry when Paris said those simple words. I'm sure everyone else did. It reminded me of my own Pappy's internment mass where I had to say a few words afte. We all know that Michael's legacy will live on forever. At least once in my life, I was able to watch a Michael Jackson Concert. It was 10 years ago or more even. MJ Rest In Peace. Heal the World.

A DECADE

Gosh, I can't believe my baby is 10 years old. How time flies. It is also my 10th year since my brain surgery. Yup. Imagine given 10 days to live to 10 years and counting. Someone sent me a video of Nick Vujicic a long time ago and I was inspired even more to go and live. How timely that I get sent the same video on my 10th year anniversary (July 6-7) since that frightful night where I was only given days to live. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have believed in me and helped me in this journey to recovery especially my Mommy and Pappy, who never gave up on me despite all. Who have done nothing but give me the love and shower me with blessings. The family (the whole herd) who have been all so supportive and loving. My dear friends who still know me as the LOGS that I am. Tita Marivic, who knew that I could get on a horse again and do a lot more. My PT/OT family who have done countless favors for me and making me feel more than just a patient. Titas and Titos. Jive my 20+ year old horse who literally takes care of me every time I ride. The other day Tita MC told me that I shouldn't write what the ass does. Apparently, she reads my blog. I'm sorry Tita but I have to vent out or else another vain in my brain will pop again. My last entry about this was February 23, 2009. I said that I was wondering when the ass will finally get kicked out for all the lying and crap that we have to live with? Well it happened last Monday but puneta it only lasted for 4 freaking days! Now the ass is back here. Fuck! I'm going to get so hot tempered and hell is going to break loose again. See, that's the problem with my mom. She gives in so easily and that ass knows that he has my mom wrapped around his fat finger. His fat finger that is literally inside his short/pants scratching his ass all the time! The helpers have a funny skit they do of him scratching his ass. He is the laughing stock of the household. The cook is going on vacation next week and dear God I hope she still comes back knowing that the ass is back here. Mamomoblema nanaman of what food to cook. Mounds of rice again and cans of processed food. Shit, now I feel bad that I did the grocery knowing that it's just all going to go to that ass.

The past few days that the ass was not here, we had pleasant dinners, no food went to waste, no extra cooking, it was bliss. No porn windows popping out while I work, no loud computer games, (I should really tell the neighbors to file a report already. Baka they are just dyahe. They already did once of twice. They should do it again.) no electric fans left opened, no bashing of ice in the middle of the night, and the list goes on. I wonder how much water we saved since the ass was not here? Tons I bet, no bidet left on while he takes a crap. See, no one believes me when I say these things. Well, they better, because I'm not going to stop until that ass REALLY gets kicked out of the house. Please NOT 4 days. Make it an eternity.

Before my father passed away, he sent this text message to my mom saying that I had finally visited him and forgiven him and that now he will work on the ass. Well, maybe my Pappy knew it was a hopeless case and died anyway. Of course he knew it was a hopeless case.

Does this mean that I have to start looking for places to stay?

...I Miss This Spot...

I miss this spot. I miss blogging about my days whether good or bad. Just haven't had the time. Been so busy with orders and now a new venture. It's good in the sense that I am busy right. Making a little profit to get by.

It's summer for Luis and he has taken up digital photography and started Spanish lessons. Of course he still has his tennis twice a week. Keeps us all busy having to work around driver schedules, play groups and the works. There hasn't been much of a MVA playgroup which as dissipated over the months. I still get to see one or two MVA Mommas as one has even started to half stable Jive.
Speaking of Jive, there has been a slight change in grooming services. Nanding is no longer my groom but he has said that he will still help me get on leaving the rest to my new groom Odong. Imagine after more than 10 years. I have to get used to it I guess. Jive has been a real sweetheart to the kids and students of T. Marivic, I see in their faces the content and after they have ridden that they had a good ride. That's my baby. Just going about her business but she demands her carrots! Wow, her eyes light up and at full alert when she knows she is getting her carrots.

I'm happy that the vitamins that we are giving her is working. Jive has gained weight. have to build up her muscles though. Need a good rider to do that through. Lex? Hehehe. Luis kisses and hugs Jive when he sees her. My sweety.

Don't ask me about going out or my social life because I don't go out. Mostly all family gatherings composed of dinners and lunches. That's why I'm so fat! Hahaha. Anyway, gotta get back to work. Adios!

GOING NATURAL

A long long time ago, my mom had this book about recycling. It was a nice picture book and interesting indeed. Something like 50 Ways to Safe the Earth. This was 20 years ago. I have always appreciated nature and animals, except cats, in general and always wanted to care for the earth. Life in general gets too busy that we ignore the "world" around us. It's only the recent years that this explosion of recycling, all natural, organic and have started doing little things to help save the earth. has become a "trend" so to speak. Like most know, that my life changed 10 years ago, I have become more aware of the environmental issues we face today because I have a 10 year old son who will inherit this earth and the future generations to come. I figured that the best way to start is always with yourself and later extend to those around you and so forth. Although, I'm not going to be a hypocrite and start being a vegetarian and live on tofu alone. I still want my guilty pleasures and be happy. I still want my Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the like. I still want my Adobo, Kare-kare, Crispy Pata, ect once in a while. =). Live a little as many would say.

A little more than a year ago, I have made the switch in going natural in my every day grooming and cleaning. It has taken some time but I have found the products that suit my skin type and knowing that it's not harmful to the environment, it makes me feel good that I am helping in whatever way I can.

Earth Hour 2009 aims to reach one billion people in 1,000 cities all over the world. To help reach this goal, a global sign-up campaign and competition is again being launched worldwide. Last year, the Philippines ranked 9th in terms of total sign-ups. All Filipinos are urged to sign up at Earth Hour's global website: http://www.earthhour.org. Earth Hour Philippines 2009 hopes to involve 10 million Filipinos and 500 businesses in key cities across the country.
Earth Hour 2009 is a global call to action to every individual, every business, and every community. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, and to get actively involved in working towards a sustainable future. People across the world will turn off their lights and join together in creating a vital conversation about the future of our precious planet.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Green Army Philippines Network, and the SWITCHmovement have joined hands with the Department of Energy to spread public awareness of the Earth Hour message to cities and communities all over the country.

"This grassroots initiative is an opportunity for individuals from all corners of the globe to unite and, in a single voice, highlight the urgent need for dramatic lifestyle changes and best energy practices to save our planet. This is a cause that should unite us as Filipinos and as citizens of the world."

As seen from recent posts, it's mostly about business. For obvious reasons, I need moolah to sustain needs and caprichos. Aside from that, helping out fellow Stay-at-Home-Yummy-Mummies. Plus I genuinely believe in all the products since I have tried and tested them. =)

In the not so personal aspect of my life and that of my dear son's, nothing much has really been happening. It's the usual schedule that we keep. Because of the financial turmoil that we are all in, I try to limit my spending and going out, meaning grocery shopping on a need-only basis with a few cheap stuff thrown in. Although needed, but not entirely will-not-survive-without-it, is my PT or physiotherapy. Makati Med Rehab has raised thier prices and I find it too steep. In other words, I haven't been going. I didn't go today. I would rather have a hour and a half masahe actually. Which reminds me that I have to call the gym and Barangay Clinic regarding thier schedule. If I can get it for free why not right??

Which leads me to my present dilema. The person half-stabling Jive has written me a letter saying that this will be her last month for stabling Jive. I always ask for a month or two notice for termination just so that it will give me ample time to find another person to stable Jive. Which I believe is the right thing to do. Right??I hope things will turn out for the better. I can't afford full stabling of Jive... NOT at ALL! =(... poor baby.
