Although I haven't read the book...I agree with you. Although I haven't read the books, I have seen the films and enjoyed them. If anything it teaches children of friendship, loyalty and courage as they want to be like the "good wizards" who use magic in contructive ways as opposed to the evil ones who are disliked in the stories. Also - it is mere fantasy - you don't often hear criticism of J.R.Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings" trilogy which also contains much "magic". Of course there may be some who become obsessed with the stories and try to replicate it - but this is generally due to other factors in their lives that drive them to have such a desire to live out of their present realities. Just because the stories do not have an overtly christian underlay surely cannot mean that they are inherently bad?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
