So I made a web site to help me… and much like I made RaidSpace for me and decided to let everyone use it, here is MyWoWForums.com. It’s pretty early in release. No pretty graphics yet, not even a lot of features – but I have lots Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1163448451926462472006-11-13T14:07:00.000-06:002006-11-13T14:07:31.980-06:00UnavailableI’m doing a large clean up query on the RaidSpace database right now. RaidSpace might be unavailable while it’s in process. The good news is RaidSpace will respond much quicker once it’s done. I hope it doesn’t take more than an hour or so to run.Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1152629573717778722006-07-11T09:52:00.000-05:002006-07-11T09:52:53.723-05:00RaidSpace ReleasesI have gotten a few emails and comments about the lack of RaidSpace releases. To be honest, my free time has dropped to zero over the past few months due to a combination of personal and work related issues. In fact, I don’t even play WoW anymore! Gasp!I do long to work on my side projects again, and plan to finish the half finished new version of RaidSpace that’s been sitting on my desk. But Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1152110864691676412006-07-05T09:47:00.000-05:002006-07-05T09:47:44.746-05:00Domain Name ExpiredSorry about the domain name expiring over the weekend. I didn’t have it set to auto renew for some reason and was on vacation in Panama City when it did expired. Everything should be good-to-go now. If you are having these troubles, try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, then restart the browser. This seems to get most people by the problem. I’m not sure what is causing the issue – hopefully I figure it out soon. Thanks for the helpful suggestions; most of them will be implemented in this next major release. Some of the features to be included in the new version are as followed:A complete revamp of the system to an AJAX based architecture. This basically means less Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1131118083438112622005-11-04T09:28:00.000-06:002005-11-04T09:52:33.563-06:00IE BugSorry about the Internet Explorer bug I caused yesterday. The ads I added were pushing the raid screen to the bottom. Should be fine now… I will be more careful next time.Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1131024118613498572005-11-03T07:21:00.000-06:002005-11-03T07:21:58.903-06:00Reoccurring Raid BugJust a heads up, I got some information leading me to believe that people are disappearing from reoccurring raids when they sign up really early for them. I am trying to find the bug, and hope to have it fixed in the next release. Until then, please ask your players to re-check their signups as a raid date draws closer. All of the servers in the list are now either prefixed with a “<?xml:namespace prefix ="" st1 ns ="" "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />US” or “EU”. On another note, I plan add the <?xml:namespace prefix ="" st1 ns ="" "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Europe servers to the available servers today or tomorrow. I look forward to implement many of the good ideas you guys are sending me.I implemented My Account today. When you are logged in now, you will have a button for it at the top. You can change your email address or password there. But most importantly, you can add multiply characters to one username there.I did notice a bug, it’s slow as crap. A new look and feel is in the works for RaidSpace, but those icons looked so cool I couldn’t wait to incorporate them with the current design. They were done by a good friend of mine, John Williams, who is a moon-lighting comic artist. Anyhow, I hope to have some new features, and some more updates to the design soon.Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1126047995930319422005-09-06T18:06:00.000-05:002005-09-06T18:06:35.943-05:00Minor Release, Persistent Logins and LoggingI made a minor release to get some quick wins.Firstly, I added persistent logins by request. After checking the “login automatically” button on the log in page, you won’t have to log in to the page every visit anymore. This will also help the raid leaders that kept a raid up all day and would have to re-login after refreshing because their session expired. This would do a few things. It would email a volunteer when their status in the raid has changed. For example, they were drafted into raid, or dismissed from it. It would send a reminder email to all the drafted volunteers 24 hours in advanced… well, I will likely make that 24 hours configurable. This feature will allow you to create one raid, and set it up as (for example) a weekly raid. No more creating the same Onxyia raid over and over. The URL that is created for you will work for all occurrences of that raid, so you won’t have to update your forum posts anymore either! SoonSorry, I have been busy with RL lately. But I plan to get back to work on RaidSpace very soon. I have jury duty next week, and will be staying in a hotel… so hopefully I will be able to finish up reoccurring raids instead of watching TV.I noticed more guilds were starting to organize their wow raids with RaidSpace – welcome. Please send any suggestions you might have to: nick@raidspace.comNick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1121347885673766262005-07-14T08:31:00.000-05:002005-07-14T08:32:34.490-05:00Invite Macros AddedWhen logged in as a raid owner or a raid leader, you will be able to access invite macros. They are located at the bottom of the Drafted table. By copying and pasting the text into temporary WoW macros, you will be able to quickly invite everyone that was drafted into the raid. Since WoW macros are limited to 255 characters, RaidSpace will automatically split the macro if needed. I hope to carry Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1121173585016799252005-07-12T08:06:00.000-05:002005-07-12T08:06:25.026-05:00Volunteer Note and Class GroupingThe Volunteer Note feature is added, which means a person can write a small note to the raid owner or leader when volunteering for a raid. Also, for ease on the eyes, both the volunteers and drafted are grouped by class. This should help while trying to determine where a raid is week class-wise. So that the player could identify, for example, a late coming or early leaving. I will likely make it only visible to the raid admin and leaders. It should help them while deciding who to draft. I’m working to resolve these in a subsequent release. For now, use Internet Explorer, no matter how much it pains you to do so. Now, anyone from any server can create a raid – but they do so at their own risk! (beta and all). Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1120500678031039342005-07-04T13:11:00.000-05:002005-07-04T13:11:18.036-05:00Raid Leader Option CompleteI am done implementing the optional raid leader feature. As the owner and admin of a raid, you can mark which drafted players you would like to act as raid leaders. This will give them the ability to draft and dismiss volunteers, but not edit parameters such as the raid name, time or rules. This should help spread out some of the raid responsibilities. It’s become apparent to me that a guild leader my want to create a raid and set up the parameters, and then assign one or more raid leaders other responsibilities. It’s likely I will include such functionality in an upcoming release. This will result in the administrator having complete Nick Riggsnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14063516.post-1120099054303239612005-06-29T21:36:00.000-05:002005-06-29T21:37:34.306-05:00Reoccurring RaidsReoccurring raids are planned. The basic idea is that you have one raid, a Saturday Night MC for example, that automatically resets itself each week, ready for volunteers again. This could have a couple of advantages. The raid leader wouldn’t have to recreate to raid over and over. The same name, start time and raid rules would carry over. The URL to the raid would remain the same.
