Ambos modelan las significaciones del <em>Ariel</em> de José Rodó, texto que este trabajo analiza con el objetivo principal de identificar cómo opera discursivamente cada una de estas perspectivas interpretativas.<br /><strong>Palabras claves:</strong> Rodó; modernismo; positivismo; literatura uruguaya; Ariel. </span><br /><span style="font-size:85%;"></span><br /><strong><span style="font-size:85%;">ABSTRACT</span></strong><br /><span style="font-size:85%;">Modernism and Positivism constitute two hermeneutic interpretive models that remained popular at the end of 19th Century, and at the beginning of the 20th Century in the Río de la Plata, with specific levels of influence. Both models defined differently the interpretive meanings of <em>Ariel</em> by Jose Rodó, the text analyzed in this article.
