It still had a price tag on it, $55. It's a bit worn already, so I'm going to hang it up. I like the peacock. The pattern on this one is called Monk's belt. It's a simple form of overshot, presumably named because you have two sets of thread. One makes a plain weave, and the other makes a pattern over the plain weave. It takes about twice as long (two threads, same length) but my understanding is this is an uncommon technique in commercially manufactured fabric. I'm not sure how many people are in the RIT network, but this is where I did this searches. It could easily have thousands or tens of thousands of people. Here is the number of people who list the following as their interests (of course, not everyone interested lists it, and some people lie, so there's plenty of errors). Two of the hymnals are personalized (they both have a woman's name on the front). The one in the best condition has a clasp that says "from father" on it, perhaps a wedding gift, as it says "Mrs. E. H. Senter" on the front. No surprises there. I made a lovely pink towel sized thing to sample different patterns, learned a hem stitch, and the general construction of a table loom. Someone set up a warp and didn't want it, in case anyone is tempted to question my masculinity, although I suspect some of you will do that anyway. They tend to blend in - slouching, grayskinned little men, the color of exhaust or pavement. Except for the baseball caps and knee length gold chains, they fade in completely. They live in cold and moody, dreary places - under expressway overpasses and in the trees along the highways, behind dirty snowbanks and the tops of parking garages.
