Hello Parents,

Although the Kidz-n-Biz Project is free for your children, we still raise funds to help towards the prizes we offer during the project and towards the grand prizes at the end of the project.

One of the ways we raise funds is through an online rewards mall I own. It's pretty similar to other malls you see online except we provide a way for the shoppers to earn rewards points and consider the option of contributing their rewards points to Kidz-n-Biz.

I want to encourage you to take a peek. There is no cost to join and you only buy the items you would normally buy at the same merchants you normally buy from. The only difference is that now you will be able to help the Kidz-n-Biz project.

The question has come up about selling food in the Kidz-n-Biz Mall. Because we are using a restaurant, none of our Kidz-n-Biz participants will be able to sell food of any kind. That means snacks, desserts, fruit or anything that one would eat or drink.

I know for some of you this is not such good news. We have to keep in mind that we are being allowed to use PapaChino's Restaurant as our mall for free.

Here's a possible solution to your challenge if you were planning on selling food:

1. Just simply offer something that is not food.

2. Partner up with another kid who might need help

3. Sell the Kidz-n-Biz t-shirts

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But as a business owner, you will always have tough decisions to make. So if you were planning on selling food, this is an official notice from Pastor Ced that food is not to be sold.

Hello Kidz-n-Biz Owners,

Remember blogging is a big part of how you get points in Kidz-n-Biz. Be sure to "read" each blog Margie and I post. Sometimes you can even get more than 10 points per comment you make. The first blog I did after our first meeting allows up to 30 points to be easily gained.

Here's another way to get a quick 50 points with this blog. If you can find the missing word in this statement, "Business Education Thru _________ Principles"you get 50 Just in Time (JIT) points. Here's a clue. It's found near top on a blog posting on this site. Another key is you only have until 3:00 pm today July 10, 2009 to get the 50 points.

Letter to Kidz-n-Biz Students and Parents

Welcome to Kidz-n-Biz,

For the next eight weeks the children who participate in this project will learn key elements of running their own business. Throughout the project each child will be able to receive special points that will help determine their eligibility to receive gifts, cash and other prizes over the 8 weeks. At the end of the project, the grand prize, 2^nd place and 3^rd place winners will be chosen from among all the participants.

Grand Prize = $500 (minimum attendance 7 sessions)2^nd Place = $300 (minimum attendance 6 sessions)

3^rd Place = $200 (minimum attendance 5 sessions)

Eight Session Topics:

Wednesday's July 8th – August 26th 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm (class time)

Kidz-n-Biz Mall is open from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm starting July 22nd

Week 1 - The Responsibilities of being in business

Week 2 - Developing and using Business and Marketing plans effectively

Week 3 - Leadership and presentation skills

The 2009 Kidz-n-Biz Project starts Wednesday July 8, 2009

Who would have ever thought that kids would have their own mall. Well it's sort of a mall. This summer kids from 3rd - 9th grade are being trained on how to do business. There is an outdoor classroom setting for 8 weeks and the application of what the kids learn in class will be put into practice in the court yard of Papa Chinos Grill and Greens located at 14501 Ramona Avenue Chino, CA, hence the Kidz-n-Biz Mall.

Some of last years businesses represented offered homemade doggy treats, handmade jewelery, shaved ice, popcorn and there was even an author among the kidz who was working on publishing his own book. In 2008 there were 18 kidz in the project who participated as business owners or team members. Each business owner and their teams promoted their businesses on their own and tried to get as many people to show up at the mall each week as possible. For each person who showed up with a certain invitation ticket or flyer with a particular kid'z name on it, the business owner received 100 points. This year the same 100 points will apply for those who show up at the mall. It's the malls way of generating traffic for the Kidz-n-Biz Owners.

Although the Kidz-n-Biz project starts Wednesday July 8th, the Kidz-n-Biz Mall Opens Wednesday July 22, 2009. It will be open from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Local residents are encouraged to attend.

The project also has some great incentives for the kidz. During the 8 weeks the participating kidz will be receiving points for various activities and the Grand prize winner will receive $500, the second place winner will receive $300 and the third place winner will receive $200.

One of the ways the project is raising funds is receiving donations for Kidz-n-Biz T-shirts. Suggested Donation is $10.00 per T-Shirt. Local business owners are also contributing in kind gifts and cash. Sponsors are still being sought for all size donations.
