Louise Kuo Habakus, founder of Life Health Choices was extremely pleased with the outcome: “This election is a wake-up call to politicians nationwide. Vaccine choice belongs in the parents’ house, not the Statehouse or the White House.” Her advocacy work inspired meetings with campaign leaders last December and kept lines of communication open on this hot topic.<br /><br />In a letter to potential voters, Chris Christie stated, "I have met with families affected by autism from across the state and have been struck by their incredible grace and courage. Many of these families have expressed their concern over New Jersey’s highest-in-the nation vaccine mandates. And the media, as always, is cooperating fully. This echoes the way media debate was manipulated during the Vietnam and Iraq Wars. Instead of debating whether we should even be fighting those wars, the media debated only whether we were using the correct military strategy.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>Increasing numbers of scientists and doctors are issuing harsh criticisms of the Government’s plan to vaccinate (forcibly if necessary) virtually the entire U.S. population with what they claim is a poorly tested vaccine that is not only ineffective against swine flu, but could cripple and even kill many more people than it helps.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>The CDC’s public relations campaign has been running “scare” ads that portray swine flu as a full-blown “pandemic” responsible for snuffing out countless lives, and which, unless stopped by universal vaccination, could kill millions of American citizens. But scientists and health officials throughout the world have called the governments claims unjustified and deliberately misleading.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>For example, Dr. Anthony Morris</b></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>,</b></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b> a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>And in November 2007, the UK newspaper </b></span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>The Scotsman</b></span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>, made public warnings by the inventor of the “flu jab,” Dr. Graeme Laver. Dr. Laver was a major Australian scientist involved in the invention of a flu vaccine, in addition to playing a leading scientific role in the discovery of anti-flu drugs. He went on record as saying the vaccine he helped to create was ineffective and [that] natural infection with the flu was safer. “I have never been impressed with its efficacy,” said Dr. Laver.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>We hear the assumption being made by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that the number of deaths from the H1N1 virus is at pandemic levels and now a “national emergency.” One would assume that with all of its resources, the </b></span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>New York Times</b></span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>’ October 26 front page story on the CDC’s statistics would be accurate: 20,000 hospitalizations and 1,000 deaths due to the swine flu. However, this is all fiction. And it is a fiction solely based upon the CDC’s own contradictory statements and actions. </b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>Our independent investigations into the clinical trials and statistical studies of influenza vaccines reveal glaring discrepancies. Let us not forget that it is this same </b></span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>New York Times</b></span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>, with its “star” reporter Judith Miller, who led America into believing that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, tried to purchase yellow cake uranium from Niger, and had dealings with al-Qaeda. And let us also remember that it is the same CDC and health officials in Washington, including President Ford and his top health advisor F. David Matthews, who pushed through and propagandized an untested vaccine during the 1976 swine flu scare, which resulted in thousands of severely neurologically damaged Americans and about 500 reported deaths. Aside from permanent paralysis, many of these vaccine victims also underwent torturous processes for many years to get the government to recognize their illnesses and help cover their costs. Not only was the CDC’s prediction and vaccination campaign for the 1976 flu season a total disaster, it also turned into a deadly scandal, witnessed across the United States on </b></span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>60 Minutes</b></span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>when Dr. David Sencer, then head of the CDC, confirmed that the vaccine was never field tested, that there were only several reported incidents of H1N1 infection and none of these had been officially confirmed, and then lied about the CDC having no prior evidence that the swine flu vaccine could cause severe and permanent neurological damage. The end result from the 1976 debacle cost the government $3.5 billion in damages, two-thirds were for severe neurological injury and death directly due to the CDC’s vaccination campaign.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>Therefore, being anti-vaccine or pro-vaccine is not the most urgent issue. What is critical is whether or not there is legitimate, sound science to support either position; in this regard, the vaccine manufacturers and our federal health agencies have failed in the past, and continue to fail today. And they fail dismally. There is absolutely no evidence for sound-scientific protocol or anything resembling a gold-standard behind the swine flu infection statistics and vaccine efficacy and safety clinical trials to support Obama’s and his health advisors’ claims. Instead, the reports on hospitalizations and deaths due to the H1N1 virus are grossly distorted. What we are really witnessing is “official” science and statistics that are little more than propaganda. </b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>One unfortunate development over the years is the notion that there is such a thing as a “flu season.” The truth is that we move annually into periods where there are dramatic increases in flu-like causing pathogens, however, the majority of these are unrelated to any strain of influenza virus. There can between 150 and 200 different infectious pathogens—adenovirus, rhinovirus, parainfluenza, the very common coronavirus and, of course, pneumonia—that produce flu-like symptoms, and worse, during a “flu season.” For example, how many people have heard of bocavirus, which is responsible for bronchitis and pneumonia in young children, or metapneumovirus, responsible for more than 5 percent of all flu-related illnesses? This is true during every flu season and this year is no different. Furthermore, all flu vaccinations, including the swine flu, are useless for protecting people from these many prevalent infectious organisms.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>If we take the combined figure of flu and pneumonia deaths for the period of 2001, and add a bit of spin to the figures, we are left believing that 62,034 people died from influenza. The actual figures determined by Peter Doshi, then at Harvard University, are 61,777 died from pneumonia and only 257 from flu. Even more amazing, among those 257 cases only 18 were confirmed positive for influenza. A separate study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics for the flu periods between 1979 through 2002 revealed the true range of flu deaths were between 257 and 3006, for an average of 1,348 per year.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>The recent CBS Investigative Report, published on October 21, is one example. After the CDC refused to honor CBS’s Freedom of Information request to receive flu infection data for each individual state, the network performed independent outreach to all fifty states to get their statistics. Their report contradicts dramatically the CDC’s public relations blitz. For example, in California, among the approximate 13,000 flu-like cases, 86 percent tested negative for any flu strain. In Florida, out of 8,853 cases, 83 percent were negative. In Georgia and Alaska, only 2.4 percent and 1 percent respectively tested positive for flu virus among all reported flu-like cases. If the infectious-rate ratios obtained by CBS are accurate, the CDC’s figures are significantly reduced and agree with earlier predictions that the H1N1 virus will be simply an unwelcomed annoyance. So we are in the midst of an enormous medical hoax, a design and purpose that has yet to unfold completely, that will nevertheless reap huge revenues for the vaccine industrial complex.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>Another example is a recent alarmist report issuing from Georgetown University, also usurped by federal health officials and their multimedia comrades to fuel a campaign of fear and panic. The report announced that over 250 students were infected by swine flu when in fact none of these students were tested for H1N1 infection. The university’s figure was based solely on a count of student visits to the health clinic and calls into an H1N1 hotline.</b></span></div> <p></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b>This is not the first time the CDC’s predictions for influenza strains have been overstated and miscalculated. In an interview on Swedish television, Dr. Tom Jefferson, head of vaccine studies at the prestigious international Cochrane Database Collaboration, after reviewing hundreds of influenza studies and statistical analyses, has said the WHO’s and CDC’s “performance is not very good.” And in an ITN News interview last month, Jefferson called the swine flu pandemic a “juggernaut they [the WHO, government agencies and vaccine makers] created.” For the 1992-1993 season, the prediction was off by 84 percent. For the 1994-1995 season, it was off 43 percent for the primary strain and off 87 percent and 76 percent for two other strains. He believes in vaccine mandates for American children as a requirement for daycare and school admission.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">President Obama tells all Americans to get the swine flu shot. His own regulatory agency says that all kids should get the shot: kids with medical problems, and kids who are well. His Health Secretary unconditionally vouches for the safety of the vaccines and reiterates her boss’s exhortation: all Americans should get the shot.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The next day, Obama’s own Press Secretary tells America that the nation’s First Daughters aren’t getting the swine flu vaccine.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Anyone else having a problem with this?</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Our Commander-in-Chief is caught in a supreme conundrum. He has gone on the record saying he doesn’t believe in selective vaccination. That means, he does not support the personal belief exemption. That means, he believes all people should get all recommended shots. The swine flu vaccine is one doozy of a recommended shot. Officials are falling over themselves to say as much. The media has fallen in line, telling us to “<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbGHiGXN0RU&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">get the damn vaccine</a>” and “<a href="http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/33377175#33377175" target="_blank">it’s safe, safe, safe</a>.”</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">So what’s this? Daddy Obama is exercising vaccination choice for his children? Could there be legitimate reasons for his girls to vary from a one-size fits all vaccination program? He owes the American people an explanation. New Jersey also approves more vaccines than any other state with 41 doses of 13 different diseases by age 18, most of which is administered to children by age 6, beginning at 12 hours old.</p> <p>Louise Kuo Habakus, of Red Bank, who started the coalition, began researching vaccinations after both her children as infants experienced severe inflammatory bowel disease following immunization.</p><p>"Lobbyists are paid a lot of money by big pharmaceutical companies to get laws passed to mandate vaccines and it has to stop," demanded Habakus.</p> <p>As listed on package inserts, several adverse effects in children are believed to be the result of vaccines including heart failure, various neurological and autoimmune problems, cancer, SIDS, asthma, anaphylaxis or severe food allergies, autism, as well as diabetes, and obesity, Vaccination Choice says.</p> <p>The New Jersey Assembly approved a bill in May that requires insurance companies to assume the cost of therapy for autism, which currently affects one out of 91 children in the state, the highest rate in the nation, as stated on Vaccination Choice's Web site.</p> <p>Habakus, asking parents to make their own decisions, said, "We're not saying vaccinations cause autism, but it causes the same symptoms so…"</p><p>Among a sea of homemade signs some read: "Big business has protection from Congress" and "Stop gate keeping the information."</p> <p>"Gov. Corzine and others have not listened to us but we're here and we're angrier now and growing in numbers," Habakus yelled. "If you want our vote, show us what's best for our children."</p> <p>Coalition members urge further testing on vaccine ingredients and for manufacturers to study how vaccines interact with each other. Vaccination Choice notes that existing science doesn't implicate vaccines or their ingredients as causes for chronic and neurodevelopmental disorders.</p> <p>An emotional Patty Difiglia spoke about her daughter Gionna, who she said became ill with extreme fever and heavy diarrhea after a receiving four vaccines for Hepatitis B.</p><p>"After checking her, we realized she was not breathing and we immediately dialed 911 but the police were unable to revive her. It was initially reported that she died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) but no tests proved conclusive that that was the cause. It was finally determined that she died due to injury from vaccination," said Difiglia adding, "I'm not against vaccines but I don't think our children's health should be risked due to them."</p> <p>There are several exemption complications, such as religious exemption, which forces parents into an all or none status. Many parents choose to home school their kids in order to avoid pressures of vaccination requirements.</p> <p>Craig and Vicki Schwartz, of Hightstown, who are both teachers in elementary and middle schools, say an increase in autistic programs and children with peanut allergies led them to begin questioning vaccinations. Claiming religious exemption has allowed them to bypass vaccine protocol. "Our son Noah had a few vaccines until he was a year old and then we decided against it. And our daughter Juliana was a home birth and has never been vaccinated," said Craig Schwartz.</p> <p>Vaccination Choice also speaks to adults about the seasonal flu shot, as well as the newly released H1N1 shot.</p><p>Over 90 percent of the regular flu vaccine supply contains 25 mcg of mercury, which is a known neurotoxin. Parents, though, are up in arms, since the seasonal flu shot was mandated last year for children age 6 to 59 months who attend daycare and pre-school programs in New Jersey.</p> <p>Various doctors on hand also warned passerby's of the dangers of the H1N1 flu vaccine, which has only been tested on 19 children. The government has ordered 251 million vaccine doses, leaving coalition members to question the necessity for what's being alleged to be a mild pandemic, no worse than the regular flu.</p> <p>Bill A260/S1071 for no forced vaccinations has broad, bipartisan support with 39 sponsors on board so far, including local Assemblyman Scott Rumana. At the end, I asked if he knew what bill I was calling in reference to, and he said, "the Vaccination bill, right?" Yup, that's the one! ; )<p />Calling my own local legislators was good, too, because I got to ask them where the two non-sponsors each stood on our bill. If it came to the floor for a vote, how would they vote? FYI, the Coalition recently sent 120 faxes out, to each senator and 2 Assemblypersons, asking them to check mark off how they would vote, and return it to us. Several of them have, mostly our co-sponsors so far, but a few of them have weighed in saying they would vote yes. We're (persistently contacting) the folks who have not responded, but if MANY callers to their office next Tuesday were to ask where they stand, it could make a big impression.<p />I would encourage everyone on the loop here to be asking folks who are not our sponsors, when making these calls, as we head into the elections for the whole NJ Assembly in just 10 days, indeed- just where do they stand?<p />Also got feedback that our handwritten letters from the Letter Writing Kits are really impactful, that every one of those get read, because they know constituents take the time to not just cut & paste a form letter, or dash off a postcard. "I didn't think anyone would even care about my story. People are sitting there crying and I can't understand why."</p> <ul> <li> <a href="http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/health/101309_woman_disabled_by_flu_shot_reaction_dystonia" target="_blank"> <strong>TO WATCH FOX 5'S ORIGINAL STORY ON DESIREE JENNINGS AND HER CONDITION, FOLLOW THIS LINK.</strong></a> </li> </ul> <p>She first spoke to FOX 5 about a severe reaction she suffered after getting a seasonal flu shot. Now, both Fairfax Inova and Johns Hopkins say Desiree suffers from a rare neurological disorder as a result of the flu shot. <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dystonia/DS00684/DSECTION=causes" target="_blank">The condition is called dystonia,</a> and it affects every aspect of her ability to function. One day after our story aired, <a href="http://www.generationrescue.org/index.html" target="_blank">Generation Rescue, an organization founded by actors Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey</a> , reached out to Desiree.</p> <p>"They are extremely helpful," Desiree said. "They have a lot of doctors that deal with vaccine interactions, and they have sent us so many other stories similar to mine. Unfortunately a lot of theirs are with children, which is worse. I can understand it happening to an adult, but not a little child that hasn't had a chance to live their life and can't speak, so I want to speak. They can't, and I want to help them, too," says Jennings.</p> <p>McCarthy's 7-year-old son Evan is autistic. She founded <a href="http://www.generationrescue.org/index.html" target="_blank">Generation Rescue</a> along with actor Jim Carrey to educate people about ways to reverse autism. The organization is now raising awareness over the safety of vaccines including flu shots. <a href="http://www.generationrescue.org/index.html" target="_blank">Generation Rescue's</a> President Stan Kurtz was so touched by Desiree's story, the organization is hoping to fly her to Los Angeles for treatment.</p> <p>"And the story is, anyone that sees-- it is just so compelling, Jenny was crying over it," says Kurtz.</p> <p>Kurtz also believes with the proper treatment, some of her symptoms may be reversible. </p><p> "Well, unfortunately we happen to be very good at handling vaccine injury. We've got a lot of doctors that have experience in doing that, so our doctors and our resources are completely available to her, and we're going do everything we can to give her a lot of options to, to help take care to help recover from this condition as best we can," says Kurtz.</p> <p>For Desiree, it's a glimmer of hope and a chance at getting her life back.</p> <p>"Get back to my normal life, but still have had a chance to warn people as well," says Jennings.</p> <p>Still, the Centers for Disease Control says the seasonal flu vaccine is safe and recommends it to the general public. In Hauppauge, workers outside a local clinic screamed "No forced shots!" when the mandate came down at the end of September. </div> <p /><div>"I don't even tend to the sick. I am in the nutrition field. They are telling me I must get the shot because I work in a health clinic setting," said Paula Small, a Women, Infants and Children health care worker. </div> <p /><div>Small said she would refuse to be vaccinate, worried the vaccine is untested and unproven, leaving her vulnerable. In 1976, there were some deaths associated with a swine flu vaccination. </div><p /><div>Registered nurse Frank Mannino, 50, was also angry. He said the state regulation violates his personal freedom and civil rights. </div><p /><div>"And now I will lose my job if I don't take the regular flu shot or the swine flu shot." </div> <p /><div>When asked if he's willing to lose his job, Mannino said, "Absolutely. I will not take it, will not be forced. This is still America." </div><p /><div>The protest also shook Albany. Hundreds of demonstrators demanded freedom of choice. After all, as health care professionals, they argue they're already constantly washing their hands and aren't likely to transmit or contract the flu. </div> <p /><div>Around 500,000 health care workers would have been slated to receive the vaccine </div><p /><div>"It's certainly their prerogative to voice their opinion," said Dr. Susan Donelan of Stony Brook University Hospital. </div> <p /><div>Donelan said most in the medical community see the benefits and safety of the shots and welcome them, and that hospitals must obey the law. </div><p /><div>"Our hospital is committed to following the mandate to have our personnel vaccinated," she said. </div> <p /><div>The state said change was needed this year to save lives. Typically only about 45 percent of health care workers take advantage of voluntary flu vaccines. </div><p /><div>More than 150 institutional outbreaks of seasonal and H1N1 flu are expected this year in hospitals, nursing homes and hospice centers. </div> <p /><div>There is also a strong resistance to the vaccine from the general public.
