Summer Reading

Our adult and junior high summer reading programs begin June 1. Stop by either library for more information! Our children's summer reading program begins June 12. Click here for more information.
Lapsits for infants and toddlers will be held on Tuesdays at 10:15am at the Minooka Branch library beginning June 2 and ending July 28 (excluding June 30) and on Wednesdays at 10:15am at the Main Library from June 3 to July 29 (excluding July 1).

What's Happening in Your Community?

Easter Egg-travaganza: April 4 from 2 to 4pm at the Heritage Crossing Field House. This free program is for ages 3 to 10 and includes an easter egg hunt, a visit with the Easter Bunny, face painting, games and more.
Fashion in Bloom Style Show and Luncheon: April 19 at Morris Country Club sponsored by the St Mary Church of Minooka's Women's Council. Tickets are $20 and deadline for purchase is April 11.
Community Garden Informational Meeting: The Resurrection Lutheran Church in Channahon is hosting a community garden. An informational meeting will be held on April 16 at the church.

Prize Donations Needed

Library attendance has gone up and will continue to rise. Our libraries offer a great deal to our community both in learning and leisure. We offer books, DVDs, music CDs, software, audiobooks and much more to the people of our community. Summer reading is coming up very soon and we need local businesses to donate prizes for our drawings.
This is the perfect way to get your business into the public eye while supporting a worthy cause. All those who donate get a mention in all of our summer reading materials. In the past we have have received gift certificates, free food coupons, tee-shirts and more!

What's Happening in Your Community?

Spring Musical: The Minooka Community High School is presenting Throughly Modern Millie March 12-14 at the MCHS Central Campus. Cost is $6 per adult and $4 per student or senior citizen.
Antiques Show: March 13 (9:30am to 7pm) and March 14 (9:30am to 4pm) at the Channahon United Methodist Church. Admission is $2 includes one free appraisal.
Jen Monti 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney: March 14 at the Minooka Community High School Central Campus, registration begins at 9:30am. All MCHS students, staff, parents and alumni are invited to participate in teams of 3 with a cost of $40 to benefit the Jen Monti Memorial Scholarship fund.
Dog Day at Skateland: Let your dog run and play indoors at the Skateland Recreation Center on March 19. Dogs under 35 pounds from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and Dogs over 35 pounds from 7:40pm to 8:40pm. Admission is $3.
Ham and Scalloped Potatoes Dinner: March 21 from 4pm to 7pm at the Elwood Community Church. $8 for adults, $4 for kids 5-12, free under 5.

Magazine Sale

It's time for the annual magazine sale at the Main Library. We are selling the 2007 issues of our magazines for 5 cents each. Hurry in because they go fast! We also are selling our remaining educational VHS cassettes for $1 each. And we always have a variety of used adult and children's books. Children's books are 15 cents each, adult hardcovers are 50 cents, adult paperbacks are 25 cents.

New Year's Reminder/Winter Reading/Story Hours

Both libraries will be closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. We will reopen on Friday, January 2 with our normal hours.

Winter Reading for adults and teens (9th grade and up) will begin on January 12 and run through March 1. Read 3 books to receive a mug.

Story hours and lapsits are on winter break. They will resume on January 13 and 14. Story times are 10am and 1pm on Tuesdays (at the Minooka Branch) and Wednesdays (at the Main Library). Lapsits are at 10am on Tuesdays (Minooka Branch) and Wednesdays (Main).

Upcoming Schedule and Early Closing

We will be having our Christmas Cookie Story Hours on Dec 9 and 10 during our usual story hour times [10am and 1pm on Tuesday in Minooka, 10am and 1pm on Wednesday in Channahon]. Santa will be paying a visit and the kids will decorate a cookie. We will also have our regular lapsit schedule at 10am on Tuesday and Wednesday. These will be our last story hours and lapsits for 2008, the regular schedule will resume on January 13.

Both branches will be closing at 6pm on Wednesday December 10. Please make sure to mark this down.
