WOW...It's week 47 of the Bloggers Challenge. What started out as a fun little challenge between Sheryl and myself has really grown into a great talented group of challenge players....This weeks challenge was to use this sketch (the one with the dog) as a basis for creating your card.

I had some extra time to play - so I created two cards....

Details:

For this card I used the Magic Pattern Technique (TJNL) coloring my images with watercolor crayons.

Innovative Stamp Creations Challenge...Want to win FREE stamps?

Yep, you read that right! ISC will be picking a name at random and you could win a sheet of ISC stamps FREE! So what's the catch you ask? This weeks challenge is to create a project using Tags and ISC images only....more details below....

Here's what I created

I started off with a tag doing the Color Collage Technique (TJNL). To make the tag pop - I added some Brushed Corduroy and Black Soot Distress Inks to the edges. I cut my tag in thirds to give it a bit of dimension, layered on a black piece of card stock. My designer paper is from Heidi Swapp - again I added some aging to the paper - I sponged Old paper ink onto the white areas, then Brushed Corduroy and Black Soot to the edges. This is layered on a piece of So Saffron (that has also been aged) and then my black card base.

Here's a card I created for this weeks SCS Sketch Challenge. You can't tell from this photo - but I used the Marker Wash Technique (TJNL) on the main image. The flowers were actually colored with Groovy Guava ink - as SU doesn't have a marker to match.

The two new beautiful sets are Rock-a-Bye Baby and Lilac.

Here's one of the cards I created using images from the Lilac set. I used the Spritz and Flick technique (TJNL) and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to create the background. The images are stamped in black stazon, then colored using my aquapainter with Peeled Paint and Concord Grape Distress Inks. I stacked my artichoke grosgrain on my twill and wrapped it around my card. This panel is layered on black, celery and then my eggplant base.

Grad Money Holder Tutorial

It's that time of year...Graduation....My oldest will be graduating from 8th grade, and we also have numerous other family graduating this summer - so I was in need of something that I could mass produce. These money holders are easy to create and personalize.

I used the above template I created to make this simple money holder. The "Class of 2008" was easy to create, using my Just Rite Stamp DIY Monogram Stampers - these are great for personalizing your projects as well.

Here's a view of the inside - On the top of the insert (6-1/8" x 2-7/8") - I've attached a 1-1/4" circle folded in half - I stamped my sentiment from Great Grads in black, punched it out with my word window punch, added a piece of red grosgrain, and stapled these items as shown. Be careful not to staple too far down - as this is what will hold your money at the top. At the bottom, I used my Slit Punch to create an opening that will keep my money in place when inserting it into the holder.

Both of my cards use the Watercolor Distress Technique from a past issue of the TJNL. On the card with the Iris - after the Iris was stamped, I simply went back and colored in my image with Distress Inks and an aquapainter.

Bloggers Challenge - Graduation

Wow - this week is already challenge #45 - how time files! This weeks challenge theme is Graduation - I'll be needing plenty of ideas - as my oldest will be graduating in a few weeks. I decided to use the Double Pocket Fold from a past TJNL - altering mine a bit. When this technique was first posted back in 10/07 - I had used a piece of 6" x 6" paper, and made my flap fold to the front so it opened like a card. That size was too small to hold a gift card - so for my challenge card, I used a piece of paper 9" x 9" - this helped to accommodate the sentiment from Great Grads that I'm using.

Blog Candy - Altered Bracelet

What better way to end the month than with some Blog Candy! I took a break from some projects that I was working on and used my scraps to create these altered bracelets.

On the top one, I applied rub ons to my Afternoon Tea DSP, the bottom one is created using the Createx Creations Technique from the TJNL. I substituted Adirondack Dimensional Pearls for the Createx.

TechnoStamper Sketch Challenge - Playtime

This is MJ's sketch #15 over at TechnoStamper. Another great sketch, and yes, I've rotated my sketch again to work with this new image from the Playtime Sheet at Artistic Outpost. The image on this sheet is actually fellow DT member Gerrie Johnnic's DH when he was a boy - isn't that cool!

I used the Watercolor Distress Technique from a past TJNL issue. I wanted a soft look for the image so I used distress inks in Scattered Straw and Distressed Rose. The main image is stamped in Ranger Archival Black. I punched a hole in the top and bottom and added black grosgrain tied in a bow - to follow the sketch layout. Be sure to check out the new plates Adventure and Playtime at Artistic Outpost - on sale for a limited time!

For my 2nd card - I kept my layout rotated. I masked my frame from Artistic Outpost's Playtime sheet, stamping it in black. On this one I cut off the bows on the frame. I used eclipse tape across the bottom and side of my frame so I could stamp my flowers from Bloomin' Beautiful. I colored my flower with Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip. I restamped and colored a small portion of the flower images, and placed them on my main image with dimensionals to give it some depth. (Paper Tole Technique). I added a bit of Chocolate Chip around the frame. My image is layered on Basic Grey's Boxer designer paper, then Groovy Guava card stock.
