The entrance to 'somewhere else'...

The world as we know it has stopped working…

Now most mainstream forms of media will have you believe that this is a bad thing. Personally I believe it is a good thing. As the playwright Thomas Stoppard wrote ‘every exit is an entrance somewhere else’.

Five years ago I was convinced that an incredibly exciting ‘somewhere else’ existed. I had no idea where that somewhere else was but I noticed that I had an undeniable curiosity to find out. With that curiosity, I decided to leave my own comfortable corporate existence so I could do some investigations of my own…

From an intuitive standpoint, the best place for me to start appeared to be spending more time doing the things that I loved and then expressing them through a business.

When I started creating a business doing what I loved something very interesting started to happen…

I started to attract other interesting people into my life who were also doing what they love.

Up until the age of 28, I’d probably really only met a handful of people who could honestly say that they absolutely loved what they did for a living. Sure there were many people who said that they ‘kinda liked’ what they were doing (often for fear that their boss might somehow be in ear shot), but very few who were actually following a true calling to express what was most important to them.

Today, my life is filled with people doing what they love.

5 years on, my life is filled with people who are actively pursuing the things that they love. The clients that I serve, the people who attend my workshops and coaching programs, the people that I interview through my online radio show as well as my closest friends, all of them are in the process of stepping through their fears to uncover and express what’s most important to them.

We are all searching for a feeling…

Underneath all the superficialities of modern day living, we all share the same common yearning. It’s the very thing that makes us human. We all yearn to be recognised, acknowledged, loved, and accepted for the unique talents, gifts and abilities we have come to share with the world.

Witnessing the ground swell of people in my own life who are actively exploring and living out this possibility, provides me with great hope for this new world that is being born right now.

So my question for you is where is that ‘somewhere else’ for you?

The deeper aspect of you knows exactly what I am talking about.

How could things be different for you and indeed the world, if you just took that next most important step?

5 Reasons to market your business in a creative and intuitive way…

It can be overwhelming considering all the possible ways to take your gifts and talents to the world… When I started my own business 5 years ago my biggest challenge was how to focus my energy in a way that was going to bring about meaningful results for me on every level (not just financially, but physically, spiritually and emotionally as well).

I certainly wasn’t interested in trying to sell to everybody that happened to stumble into earshot. What I wanted to do was attract the people I was put here on the planet to serve, so I could share something that would make their lives more meaningful.

After a period of unsuccessfully trying to find the answers on the ’outside’, I realised that the answers I were seeking were actually ‘inside of me’ all along. I came to realise that what I needed to do was ‘turn down the volume of conventional marketing protocol’ so I could allow my more natural, creative and intuitive marketing voice to emerge.

Here are 5 simple reasons why you may feel moved to market your business in this way…

1. You want to act in accordance with your nature… You are beautifully unique…
And as such, any marketing technique that isn’t in alignment with your true nature is going to feel awkward at best. Even if you happen to make money, you’re going to be left feeling empty. Great marketing comes from recognising and honouring your true nature and then finding successful strategies that help you to express what feels natural for you.

2. You’ve come here to do something remarkable… That’s right, it can be challenging for us mere mortals to accept, but each and every single one of us has been sent to planet earth with a special gift to share with others. Injecting the essence of ‘the thing you are here to do’ into ‘everything you do’, is the very thing that will get you noticed.

3. You want to create a business you can be proud of… Regardless of whether you make a lot of money in your business or not, everything you manage to accumulate in this lifetime will be taken from you before you pass into the next. So really, is there any point to creating a business that you’re not proud of? If you are going to devote yourself to creating a business why not make it a pure expression of your heartfelt desires?

4. To express what you’ve come here to express… Each of us have been sent to planet earth with a unique message to express. The sad reality is that most of us get caught up saying the things we feel as if we ought to say to please all those around us… and this includes our potential customers and clients. When you take an intuitive approach to marketing your business speaking your truth becomes of paramount importance. The magical thing about speaking your truth is that it helps other people easily determine whether they would benefit from working with you or not.

5. You want to go beyond conventional business thinking… If you are someone who dreams of bringing about positive social change and better outcomes for all of humanity instead of the privileged few, the time has definitely come to move beyond the conventional business thinking. Allowing yourself to be fully present to the rich vein of gold that resides within your creative intuitive faculties is one of the best ways to bring about a new and exciting world.

A chance encounter with an Angel.

London can be a lonely place… I should know, I’ve lived here for almost 10 years now and in many ways still feel as if I’m a stranger just passing through.

Nowhere on the planet does the invisible veil of human separation seem so thick than in her streets. Security cameras on every other street corner monitor each move that we make. Cab drivers peer at us through bullet proof glass and supermarket attendants don’t seem to notice us at all.

But it’s actually underneath the city on its overcrowded circuit of train tunnels called 'The Tube' where this feeling of isolation deepens. (Just try exchanging pleasantries down there next time you’re in town and you’ll see what I mean.)

As hard as it is for any normal person to make friends on the platform or indeed inside one of the trains, it actually becomes much, much harder when you appear to be mentally challenged to the outside world…

It was a sweltering Saturday in London, the day I met Kathryn.

I first saw her at a distance. The most obvious thing that I noticed about her was the trail of uncomfortable expressions that followed her along the carriage as she went from person to person attempting to make some kind of human connection.

Soon enough she arrived by my seat and our eyes locked for the first time. Staring deep inside my soul, she asked me if I would like to buy something she had written. I have to admit there was a part of me that was extremely curious about what she had to share. I peered into my wallet, removed a solitary £10 note and gave it to her. She gave me a blue piece of paper with handwriting scrawled upon it and then I invited her to take the empty seat next to me.

In our brief encounter, Kathryn told me about her life.

She told me that she lived in a mental hospital in North London and how most people that she seemed to meet in this city thought she was crazy. She told me about the trials and tribulations of her life. For the most part I sat silently, listening to her every word as I tried to make sense of her life and indeed our chance encounter.

As captivated as I was by our connection, before long I was in the awkward position of having to explain to her that my stop was the next. Her anguish was immediate and indeed so was mine. I said my goodbye and wished her luck as I made my way from the train. As I was just about to step through the doors I looked back over my shoulder and offered her a parting smile. She replied by remarking “All I am really trying to do here on earth is find all my friends.”

Moments later I found myself standing on the platform alone.

Kathryn’s words were still ringing in my ears “All I am really trying to do here on earth is find all my friends.” My eyes glassed over as I realised that it was probably the most profound statement that I had ever heard.

In that simple sentence and in her own unique and beautifully unassuming style, she had articulated the deepest desire of all humanity.

And then I remembered the blue sheet of paper in my hands.

I read through her scrawlings, to get to the essence of what she was trying to communicate. Although her sentences were a little disjointed, her message was clear.

This is what she had written…

“I bet I can read what’s going through your mind, when I’m coming up to you. Oh no not again. And that is the only problem. I don’t know why it is happening. It’s mental painful. Some-one dreams have been a part of a life, working on how or what context. As long as someone’s dreams are enflamed within them, that Spiritual Spirit will automatically move you towards others which too have the same gift. Also remember it’s your Dream if you some-how know how to.

I often think about that chance encounter with Kathryn.

It was if an angel had tapped me on the shoulder to gently remind me of what life is really all about.

I now realise that if I’d been attached to the form of the message or indeed the messenger, I may not have received the gift at all…
