It's a little late this year due to my busy work life, but here's the
final official word: the comic is suspended permanently. Everything's
already been moved to my DeviantART page, so anyone can read it there.
From now on this website will serve a different purpose, which will be
revealed...eventually. Like everything I do.

I Hate Bots

Damn things keep raping my site with thier godawful "comments" with links to bazillions of websites with crap like Asian prostitution and "medicinal" herbs.

For the record, I haven't done any work on this comic for the last year and a half. The ideas are there, but the drive to put them to paper isn't. So, Extended Hiatus is even further extended. Who knows what the future holds.

The return of Terence...

Yes, I am alive, everyone. I come bearing old promises of new comics, wrapped in a tidy red bow with a little gift tag on a string addressed to you. A date has not been set, there are many things to do before the comic resumes regular weekly updates. Besides, it will keep you in suspense for a little while before I actually figure something tangible out. Hopefully, I can do so before suspense turns to boredom.

During my long absense, my former comic host Keenspace became Comic Genesis. I have failed to update my pages with such information, and I may be one of the few remaining. I have not been contacted about my delinquency, nor have my comics been deleted. The name change was entirely superficial, fortunately for me. I shall, however, go through and make sure my site conforms to the new Comic Genesis guidelines.

Additionally, I began revamping the site layout almost a year ago, and never finished. This is evident when looking through the archive. That, too, shall be fixed. Updates to the site must also be continued, as I never actually settled on this layout, or how things fit together. This just looked 'neat' at the time.

Finally, I've decided not to worry too much about style. I figure if I can get pages done on time and they look half-way decent, it's better than waiting three months for something slapped together at the last minute. I hope it works. Until then, though, feel free to stay in suspense.

DeviantART Pasties

I do wish though you actualy choose which deviations you show. Instead, it's done by category. Such as, my most popular deviations, or my featured deviation (with caption), or some of my recent favorites. *shrugs* Interesting I suppose if you want to pimp your gallery, or other people's art on your website. You can also show recent Deviations to a certain category (which means you could be displaying anyone's art).

It's features like these that make me realize most people have no clue what the DeviantART Terms of Service really means. Everyone wants to assume DA wishes to own the copyright to and sell their art, when it seems to me DA just wants to be able to do things like Pasties without needing to ask permission. Basically, because DA gave me permission to use Pasties on my website (through giving me the feature), I can post a thumbnail and link to anyone's artwork on DA without requiring to ask them, since by submitting the artwork to DA, they have allowed DA to use their artwork in specific manners as detailed in the TOS. Since the thumbnail comes with a link to the work (and subsequently that artist's gallery), I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Fashion Square Theater

As some of you may know, I live in the Central Florida area. As such, I have access to numerous movie theaters which cater to my various ecclectic tastes. There's Muvico if I want something inexpensive and close-by, there's Regal Cinemas for hanging out with college buddies, and there's The Enzian for tastes of the independent. Recently, a new theater, a Premiere Cinemas theater, opened at the Fashion Square Mall on Colonial Dr. in Orlando. I went there with a friend to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (my second time), and marvelled out how nice and clean the place was, and how high the prices were. Well, it is brand new, I suppose, on both counts. Anyway, as we sat in the small theater, the size wasn't the only thing that got me looking around expectantly; a tense music score kept playing in the background, over and over, like something was going to happen. However, at the end of the score, nothing occured, and it started over again.

Finally, though, ten minutes after the reported movie schedule, the lights dimmed and the screen came to life. That's when I realized that whooshing sound I kept hearing wasn't part of the tense music score, but was in fact the air conditioning at full blast. This was not the only sour point of my movie experience. Alas, the sound-proofing at the theater is not as good as it should be, and once in awhile, loud sound effects from the adjacent theaters would blast through the walls during an innappropriate moment. Overall, I would rate this theater as a C-. It could be worse, but then who'd go?

So, my evaluation of this theater as compared to others I've been to:

Clean
Fast snack service
Small theaters
Movies do not play on time (too early or too late)
No sound-proofing
Overpriced

Overall: C-

Progressing Slowly

I've moved all the rants from each issue to this blog one-by-one, so now I can delete those from the archive and just leave the comics. Boy, I did a lot of apologizing. But, hey, I have a degree now, that's good enough reason for me for why I stopped making comics. Anyway, the title in each rant on this page also serves as a link to that issue. Unfortunately, I won't be able to update the comic and this blog at the same time with any automatic processes. I'll figure something out.

Layout changes are moving smoothly if not slowly. Still need to tweak the layout on keenspace to get it looking just right, but that has to do with their setup more than anything. This part of the site still has a few pages missing, including cast, reviews, and fan fics. About the Artist was finally posted.

Keenspace changed its name to Comic Genesis, so I'll need to update that, too. Buzzcomiz died, too, it seems, so there goes one vote site. It might be returning, though, but who knows?

Anyone know any companies that need a fresh-out-of-college mechanical engineer? Preferably in the U.S., maybe Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, or Tennessee?

Better Times Ahead

Work is nearing completion on a new system of navigation, so the Night Warrior Limited website will be linked across several different domains, spreading the load and using resources wisely. And, with a similar layout at each location, it will be a lot harder to get lost!

Production of new issues has fallen way behind, but once a stockpile has been created, new issues will be published once a week on Mondays.

In the meantime, plans for the first Night Warrior Limited book are being formed. The book will contain all original 20 issues in full color, even the two issues which were originally black & white! Other possible features may include David Miranda's guest issues, feature commentary, sample scripts, the original story, and possibly artwork not seen anywhere else! The book will have original features not available on the website, making it well worth a buy! An announcement will be made when the book nears completion, so keep your eyes peeled.

New Update System

Well, after two years of idling in cyber space, I've finally returned to this site. I've been really busy the last couple years with college and graduating with my degree. I'm done, though, and looking forward to the mundane life of a salary man, with lots of free time to get back to the comic.

In the time I haven't updated this site, it's switched hosts twice, the comic was moved to Keenspace, and I started a DeviantART gallery.

In the time upcoming, I plan to fix the links, tweak the layout, and get rid of some things that aren't necessary anymore. Oh, and start drawing comics again! ^^

This update journal is actually the first step in the process; it's powered by Blogger, so as soon as I figure out how, I'll make an RSS feed that will indicate when this site and when the comic has updated. Right now, for those interested, the RSS feed for the comic is http://nightwarrior.keenspace.com/rss.xml Eventually I'll figure all this neat tech stuff out, but right now I'm still really new to it.

Thought I'd do a nice coverpage for this series, instead of just jumping in like I did last time. After all, this isn't some gag comic, I actually have a plot scripted out for it! I mean, you can even tell by the fact that I have title here that actually relates to the story in some way or another! Anyway, see y'all next week when I'm not a lazy, cheap bastard. Oh, and yes, I'll be changing the banner soon to reflect the new title of the series. Someone mentioned Night Warrior UNlimited...not a bad idea. Maybe I'll even make some banner ads to put around the web. Maybe.

Events Occur in Real Time

At last, the big debut of NW:24, in Super-Extendo-Vision just for this week! Hope y'all enjoyed the coffee break, because now we're getting back into the swing of things! Or, well, I am, anyway. It only took me three days to finish this one, as opposed to the previous series that took me a week at a time because I hand-drew everything like a sucker. Very little was of this issue was drawn on paper, and even less scanned in. In fact, the only thing I scanned was the car in the second-to-last panel. The rest I either drew free-hand on my tablet or traced with my tablet. I still need some practice, but I'm enjoying myself.

In other news, here's a pre-release interview I had with Super Dave concerning the new series. If it's a bit confusing, don't worry, that just means you're sane. XD Enjoy!

Character sketch of HARI in his walking mode form. His usual is rolling around on those treads you see on his legs. Why the difference? As an engineering student, I can confidently tell you a bunch of bull about his power source and energy consumption and make it sound entirely believable. Wanna hear it? Didn't think so. (For those of you that do, sit tight for awhile!)

Another step in the right direction while I'm on my short hiatus: the archives will be cleaned out, and transfered to my deviantART account. Well, only the good filler. I've recently read HNTRAC and got a lot of good idea from them. Just like I'm supposed to, heh. That and I hear my archives are messy. Couldn't agree more!

When the new series starts, I'll try to stick to once a week, but if for some reason I can't make it, I will try my hardest to resist the urge and post some really lame piece of junk and thus ruin my ratings. (HAHA! Ratings? What ratings?!) So you'll either get nothing and an excuse when I do post, or something from Super Dave, if he has the time. I like his work, so even though it's filler, it'll stay in the archives. That includes his guest comic and NW: Camera. See, he can get away with making comics because he's bored, but I can't! :p

Issue #20 - The Limit of Limited

I DID IT! WOOO! It's finally here! *wipes brow* I'd like to thank everyone who wished me well and gave me such great support over the last three or four months, I really appreciate it! That means you, Super Dave and Steph!

I like how this one came out. I used a new technique for cleaning the lineart after scanning, which I picked up over at the webcomic Mac Hall from its artist Ian McConville in a comment he wrote back in February. It clears up all the scratchiness I used to complain about, and makes the lines a lot smoother-looking. Props!

I know story-wise this is a bit of a let-down after that big grande finale in issue 19, but it sets up a lot for NW24. Like, who are those other mysterious cloaked figures? What are they doing with the alien? Where's the police? What did Couch Cop really want to say? Is it really The End? WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?! Find out in the next series, Night Warrior Twenty-Four, in six weeks! *Big Cheesy Grin*

Six weeks?! You read that right folks, six more weeks to NW24! But, don't leave yet! Starting next week is Super Dave's fan series, NW: Camera, which was advertised several months ago, back when the original plan was for me to just go on a short hiatus but still have stuff posting every week. So what's going to happen now is next week will be NW: Camera #1, followed by some character sketches for NW24, then NW: Camera #2, then a sketch, then NW: Camera #3, then a sketch, and then finally the first issue of NW24! The schedule will remain the way it is, with an update every Monday. Hopefully by the time NW24 starts I'll be settled in at school and I can worry about fiddling with the schedule then if I need to.

If for some reason you can't view the images on this page, then I've set up a DeviantART account that I'll be uploading an issue to every week. The first 19 issues of Night Warrior Limited are already there, and #20 will be posted some time after it's posted here. I'll try to stick to that. Also in the works is a new layout for the page here, one that will offer better functionality and a cleaner look. ...of course, I've got three other websites to work on, too, so it may be awhile, heh. Issue #19 - That's a Big Truck

Sorry about the two week delay, folks. I wanted to get the series finished up before April because I knew I'd be busy with exams, finals, and projects, but it hit me a lot sooner than I anticipated and pushed back issue #19 here. LOOK! REAL action! Not pussy stuff! And I promise NW:24 will have a lot more action! Not "oh, here's some action at the very end after stringing you along for twenty issues." Oh no, no no, action throughout! And more than just random shooting, too! That's fun, but it's not as challenging to draw, and doesn't look as cool in this static medium as it does on TV and movies. So, anyway, after issue #20 (hopefully) next week, NW:Limited will officially be over, and I'll go on a hiatus of a yet undetermined length. But, to keep the masses happy, I'll be posting character sketches and fan filler comics care of Super Dave, who's got a great set of stories already lined up! Look out for NW:Camera this May!

Issue #18 - There Goes the Neighborhood

Sorry this one's late, but ain't it perdy?! Hee hee! I love how the exlosion came out. I was originally trying to copy explosions from Gundam, but my effects layer got the better of me and I went nuts with the smudge tool. Still, pretty lights! *_*

MegaCON was spectacular! I spread the word on Night Warrior, and possibly landed a magazine deal! In case any of you are wondering (all ten of you), I do plan to publish all of Night Warrior Limited in a trade paper-back version and sell it for as cheap as I can (well, maybe a smidgen of profit to support further endevours, heh heh). In color, of course! Well, except for those few episodes that were in black and white.

Issue #17 - Yeah, Combustibles

UPDATE: MegaCon is coming this weekend to Orlando, Florida, and yours truly will be there! ...Unfortunately, not at a table. There's too much to see for me to be tied down at a table all afternoon! =^_^= But you'll know me if you find a cat guy wandering around talking about Gundam like a fanatic and most likely clutching a Gundam model kit or two to his chest. I might do autographed art like the pros at the tables if you're nice to me. ;) I'll be there Saturday and possibly Sunday. As for where to find me...all over! I'm a rabid con-goer, and voracious shopper! I can't miss the bargains!

COMIC! Yay! I actually got to work drawing this early in the week, but inking took some time, and the coloring was done a bit haphazardly, I'll admit. I wanted to try a new technique for smoothing out lines, but I didn't learn it until yesterday, so maybe next week. The countdown has begun! Only three more episodes until Night Warrior Twenty Four! (not including any time off inbetween)

VOTE! I still need to finish the incentive, though... Maybe a Couch Cop pinup? Without the armor! =D

Issue #16 - Die Roughly

What's this?! NO FILLER?! Thaaaaaat's right, folks! I finally got it done after two (three?) weeks of putting it off! Not my best issue, but it's done, with some cheap jokes stuffed in for your enjoyment. The last scene might be a bit confusing, since I crammed four panels into one, but the idea is Night Warrior did hit the alien. Just so ya don't think the alien jumped out of the way in the nick of time. This whole issue could have been done much better, but, eh, quite frankly, the whole series could have been done better. Yep, that's all I have to say for myself. :D

Which brings me to my next point: VOTE! =D Just click the little blue button below that says "TWC". Eventually I'll have some incentive artwork up (a free picture you get to see only if you vote)! But, Keenspace has been having trouble lately, and blah blah techno-babble blah-dee-blah-blah. Which basically means if NWLimited is late or the page looks funny, it's not my fault. Be glad it updates at all! Some of the more popular comics aren't even that far along! Erm, anyway, I'm done taking up space.

Issue #15 - Boom, Baby!

Issue #14 - CC's Lap

Apologies for misleading you all last week about the comic being updated on the 21st. Yule was on Monday, and the weekend was filled with the preparations and partying that comes with the holiday season, followed swiftly by the stomach cramps and general tiredness of the season. In case you all are wondering, I did get a present for Yule that will aid in future Night Warrior comics: a rolling ruler! These are used for drawing parallel lines. Yay! I even got to use it in this issue! See how nice and parallel the lines are? Also, the rest of the site content (cast, fan art, etc.) should be up. If not, it will be soon after I figure out what went wrong (theoretically speaking). I've given up the hunt for a unique font for each character, and will just use the nifty comic fonts I found for sound effects.

Issue #13 - Plan B?

This one took longer than expected because I challenged myself on some of these scenes. I've noticed that I put in an incredible amount of detail when I draw it, but most ends up getting lost due to scanning, shrinking, and overlaying speech bubbles. That's probably one of the biggest differences between adding text baloons digitally over drawing them in when drawing the comic: I have to draw the entire scene, even the parts that go under the bubble, because I don't know where the bubble will go exactly until I make it at the very end. I've started drawing in rough sketches of bubbles when I pencil the scenes, just to get an idea of where I can avoid overdetailing, but it doesn't always work.

Also, if you've noticed, I've started experimenting with varying my line widths. Still needs some fine-tuning, but I'll get the hang of it. I especially like how CC's hair came out in the first panel, probably one of the best renditions of her hair from behind. I'm also experimenting with different fonts I've found on the 'net for use in independent comics. I kinda like the font for Night Warrior in this one. It's called "Chronicles of a Hero." CC's font this time is just regular Comic Sans MS. Super Dave suggested I use lowercase text several months ago, and I like it, but unfortunately, most comic fonts out there are entirely uppercase. Eh, I'll find something that works.

I'll probably be redoing the layout of this site over the holiday break. I know these last few comics seem pretty boring what with just CC and NW talking to eachother, but I'm leading up to something big, I promise! In fact, #14 will have the most action since #10! ...I know, that's not saying much. -_-

Issue #11 - Commercial Break

I think I'm gonna make this a Sunday comic instead of a Saturday comic. Just for a little while to see if it works. I had a big exam on Friday, and lots of work all week, so that kept me behind. Then, Winamp decided it didn't like my Orgy CD and crashed after the 4th track of "CandyAss." So much for being honest and not downloading music! So all the coloring I had worked on for an hour disapparated when I had to restart. Time flies when you're having fun, and so does remembering to save every ten seconds. Eh, it's up, I won't complain. I finally found the time to add an animated scene. Ain't it perdy? Now, off to do more work for the coming week!

12/19/2003 -- I had to convert the whole comic into SWF format for Keenspace, as the little cheat method I used last time to insert the flash animation into the static comic won't work because I can't edit pages individually (that I know of). But, on a 26.4Kbs connection, the download takes exactly one minute, so I don't think this will be a problem for most people. I made this using Flash 4, so I can't make a percentage preloader because the command simply doesn't exist in that early a version. I think they put it in version 5, though, the bastards. :p
