The Worst Blogger EVER In The History Of Blogging!

Again, I start this post with an apology for being away for so long! No excuses just lack of time, I seem to be run off my feet and still having a few minor confidence issues! Although I've not blogged I do read and catch up with you lot!

Even bigger apologies goes to two of my friends, Jo of Gem Heaven and Brandi of Brandi Girl who kindly and generously gave me an award, I haven't forgotten girls I promise, I feel so honored and will be passing the award on very very very soon.....I have days off and can catch up on these things. Jo, love ya too sweets ;o)

Oh, I've made it to a size 12, on my bottom half anyway.........not sure whats going on up top, still a size 16 and have lost nothing off my boobs which I feel is very unfair.....................my total loss is now over 4 stone, yay! Am I pleased, you bet ya!

I'm finally getting to grips with the dreaded photoshop and am generally pleased with the way my pics are now looking but going to experiment with backgrounds, I've always tried to stay with a lighter background but..........OH, I don't know......I really really don't want to go down the slate stone route...............will have to ponder a bit more........have a nice long walk planned around the coast so will see if I can pick up something natural looking............

Anyway...............I'm still in my PJ's so guess its time to hit the shower, get dressed and do some housework :(

SNOW, snow and more snow............I hate it!! Monday I tried to drive to Shaftesbury to help get our new shop ready to open on the 7th, 2 hours and I had barely moved, well I'd slid and slipped where I didn't want to be and eventually slid into a hedge, that was useful! Tuesday was equally awful, roads hadn't been gritted and the back end of my car fish tailed all over the road...finally getting into Salisbury to find they had closed the park and ride car park........SO no parking, that was helpful! Wednesday I had a day off, did I venture out, not on your life! Friday my Salisbury shop had to close early so those of us who had to travel could get home before the roads got even worse and sadly the opening of Bijoux's new shop has had to be postponed for another week!

I have to smile tho, everyone you meet is grumbling about the weather, in the summer they grumbed because there was no summer, year before they were grumbling because it was too hot..........me thinks we are a nation of weather grumblers ;o)

Anyway, I'm sat here with lovely hot water bottle on my lap so I'm nice and toasty!

Back to jewellery..............A commission, loads and lots of silver, American Turquiose, Coral (from a very very old necklace) and beautiful lampwork hearts by Laura Sparling of Beads By Laura. I loved making this, its a little bit funky and for those of you who visit here you will probably remember that I had a bit of a confidence crisis not so long ago, well I'm hoping that is all behind me now and I'm back on track.

I've stopped fiddling with the website and have been concentrating on getting some sort of half way decent result out of photoshop, in the end I resorted to a book which wasn't very helpful but I'm almost pleased with these pictures, a little more practice maybe!

Anyway folks, its off to bed for me coz I have to work tomorrow, hope you all have a lovely weekend!

The digital dusting is done! Website is re-done and I'm thrilled with it, mostly coz I did the majority of it myself, I did have some help with layout and navigation.

After months of tearing my hair out and getting frustrated, I have also managed to activate the lightbox thingy so now my pictures do that posh flashy thing to see bigger images............I have had the programme for months now and had decided that I was in over my head with it and didn't have enough grey matter to work it out but hey no where in the instructions did it say you had to upload to website...............well now I have and hey presto..........it jolly well works ;o)

Silver Storm

Blimey, 3 posts in as many days.................

I've decided to scoop everything together, I have some bits as Jewellerycraft and some as Silver Storm so thought it about time to get it sorted!

The first was Etsy

I have a new Etsy shop and I'm gradually moving everything over from the old Jewellerycraft shop .............. its taking a while! Oh and coz I'm short of funds at the moment and no patience to wait for payday, I built the banner myself. Its a bit simple in the scheme of things but I'm ridiculously proud of it despite the amount of swearing that went on, glad the boys were out at school!

Jewellerycraft isn't going to disappear completely tho, I'm going to de-stash, and I mean DE-STASH, you would not believe how many beads I have, thousands. I will let you know when I've photographed and listed them them all, there are going to be some really lovely ones too :o)

Next will probably be my blog, so please keep an eye out, I will give you lots of warning :o)

AND I'm going to give the website a complete overhaul, maybe not this week or perhaps not next but soon........

Hi. My News Years resolutions or one of them is to be a better blogger, lol!

If you have been following my wee blog then you will have read that I'm struggling with confidence issues at the moment, so much so that I packed up all my beads and tools and got my husband to stash them away in the loft :o(

BUT, they have been brought back out and I have a couple of days off and am going to devote them to being creative. The support I have received in this moment of crisis from my digital friends has been amazing and so unexpected.

Jo from Gem Heaven is my angel, who is always propping me up, thank you Jo and I'm not going to let Miss Tight Knickers' jealously get the better of me ;o)

And, a flickr friend who pointed out that I haven't lost my creativity but that I'm hiding from it, kisses to you......how right you are!

There are a few bits of jewellery on my Flickr gallery to look at, it has taken me ages to get the courage to post them, it took me ages to get the courage to go back into Flickr at all, I know it sounds silly.

Creativity wasn't the only area for my lost confidence...... talking to people, going for a meal with my boys or friends, driving and getting petrol, I even welshed out on the company Christmas do this year.......all because of one persons throw away comment.

So, another New Years resolution is to be a little less sensitive and learn to stand up for myself a little better! Yeah right, I'm 46, bit late me thinks.........

Lost Confidence :o(

Again I start this post with an apology, I keep promising to be a better blogger and I just can't believe it has been such a long time since I checked in..........I do however keep up to date with all my friends blogs, I'm dead nosy and like to keep abreast of going ons :o)

A few things have happened to me since I last posted and I'm not going to bore you with it all but I have lost all my confidence in my jewellery! And I'm scared to death that I wont be able to create again, I've always used my creativity to keep the world at bay when things get too much and I'm struggling to find my muse again, arrrgggghhhhh...............

It was a throw away comment by someone who's a bully and should have known better...........perhaps I should have been less sensitive and not taken it to heart but I have........

Anyway, stressed, upset and demoralized I've been signed off, my immune system has let me down again and I've spent the last few days with swollen glands and a killer of a migraine.

Today, I have covered my table with precious beads in hope that some inspiration will strike and If I can work out how to upload pics to Flickr from my new computer (Its an MAC.......my brother thought it time I grew up and got a proper grown up PC with photo shop on so he sent me one to practice on) I'll let you see.

And whats with the cold climate, I AM sooooooooo cold! Last night in bed I nearly resorted to putting a pair of socks on, nothing worse than cold feet in bed, mine take ages and ages and ages and ages to warm up so I'm going to treat myself to a lovely, fluffy hotwater bottle to snuggle up too!

There's a tagging frenzy going on...................Thank you Kara, she's such a real sweetie...............I've been tagged again!

I know I promised to be a better blogger but how time slips by without me realising, scary really.

I've been making a commission which I seriously thought I'd bitten off more than I could chew, I'll post some pictures later on Flickr, but its worked out ok and customer is thrilled with it.............so she has ordered another one with a matching bracelet AND she has ordered some pieces as a wholesale order for her beauty salon. I am thrilled, for those of you who have followed me this year will know that my DH has had a rubbish year being made redundant in January and laid off from 4 more jobs, its fair to say we are struggling financially and this order means we will be able to buy the boys a nice Christmas prezzie, YAY :o) Lets hope I'm not tempted to spend it all on lampwork beads, Izzy of Flame & Glass, Caroline of Crafted Gems, Julie of Lush Lampwork and Claire of Rowenberry have been busy and every visit to Flickr is enough to make a girl very poor!

So, back to this tagging game, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm could there be anything interesting left about me to tell you guys.............

Gonna ponder this for a day or so.............its too early in the morning..............Its my day off, could have had a lay in..............................

Anyhow, I've a wonderful day of being creative planned, no housework (although house is looking a bit messy) and will post pics up on Flickr later, of the jewellery not my messy house hahahaha.

I've a feeling I'm gonna read this back later and regret making a post so early in the morning while still in my pyjamas and dressing gown..............think I might of rambled a bit so if I have I apologise!

This is a little different for me, its delicate, most know I quite like to make chunky designs but had the briolette and decided to throw caution to the wind and try to wrap it neatly without popping the top off.........................I now have two sad little briolettes with no top and I just can't bring myself to throw them away :( Still was quite pleased with the outcome!

An apology is needed me thinks....................I realised that I haven't blogged for nearly a month {{holds hand out for smacking}} no excuse, no grovelling, I promise to be BETTER!

So, I guess you wanna know 7 facts about me...............gosh.....can you hear my brain working..........

1. I could quite fancy Peter Jones of The Dragons Den, he's definitely quite fanciable. Other fanciable guys I could seriously go for: David Bowie, Christian Bale, hmmmmmmmm, Christian Bale, sorry........ Robert Carlyle, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Cole, Richard Hammond and my old doctor, hahahaha.

2. Ok, a serious one now..........I was anorexic until my mid thirties, bulimic into my forties and am now just plain over weight with food issues.......... Its one of the reasons my jewellery making career came about!

3. If I could pick any car I'd have a lime green beetle, an old one that's been restored, oh I'd love one and I'd love it even more if I could have a big yellow flower painted on the roof!

4. I love socks..........funky, brightly coloured socks, stripy socks, I have a drawer stuffed full of em and some are really old and almost thread bare but I can't bear to throw em out.

5. I've been burgled once, on News Years Eve 1991, its a devastating feeling. It wasn't what was taken but the whole "someone faceless has been in my home", the burglar left muddy footprints all over (he had really really big feet) and for months afterwards anyone who knocked at the door I would scrutinize their feet. After that the house never felt like home for me and ultimately we moved........oddly enough some years after we heard that the house had been broken into again.

6. I'm not a gadget girl (no naughty sniggers here please), just not interested in technology at all............I can just about use a computer, I have no desire to be anymore computer literate than I am now, my mobile is ancient but so long as I can text on it thats fine BUT I love my ipod, cannot image life without it.......AND I'm getting a bit twitchy coz the battery is getting dodgy (its an oldish ipod).

7. I've been told that I have a wicked sense of humour and can laugh till I cry when my husband falls over...........I try to be all concerned for his safety but just don't carry it off!

Phewwwwwwwwwwww...........deep breathe............that took me ages!

He DID it!

My son passed his driving test! :) Yay, first time, to say I'm proud is an understatement, I'm brimming with pride! Now we have to do whole looking for an old but reliable banger thing (I love old cars, specially those with lots of added character) and its got to be cheap to run coz he's still a student. I'm so naive, thought it would be great to put him on my insurance only to find it would cost me over £3000, needless to say he's not driving my car!

The inspiration for these sweet little earrings came from a storm cloud that I skirted on my way home from work. Amazing colours made more lovely from the sun filtering through the edges. Anyone who knows me knows I adore a good storm, the more extreme the better although here in the UK ours are probably a bit on the tame side compared to you guys in the USA. Tiny iolite, green amethyst and pearls hang from a small hand forged and textured ring, watch this space for a matching necklace.

3 beautiful and big American turquiouse beads, lovely aren't they, I've got one more stashed safely away. Lots of sterling silver in this design, I had great fun making it :)

Anyway, thought I'd check in and say hi to my pals, hope you all had a fab weekend in the sun, hasn't it been lovely but wow, ain't it cold at night!

I've been making beads! A friend kindly let me use all her bits to have a go, she is also a beginner so we scooped up all her odd colours that she didn't like and we made beads all Sunday morning. I forgot to take my camera so you will have to wait for pics, they are a motley bunch and not very pretty but I did manage to get them round eventually and my spots are not very well aimed!

Of course now I'm hooked so saving my pennies for a torch!

I'd like to introduce my eldest son Matthew and his girlfriend Catherine, handsome isn't he? Well, I think so even if he does need a shave!

And I'm cool with the whole girlfriend thing, she's very lovely actually, a really nice girl even if she is treading on my toes and stealing my baby boy away from me, I'm cool.........I am.....I really am............ Thankfully, we haven't got to the stage of girlfriend stopping over "all night", not sure how I'm going to react to that one, he is nealy 19 but she is just 17 and I'm hoping her parents are as protective of her as we are of him! Do I want to wrap him up in my arms and keep him close, you betcha.................here's why.

At the age of 11 he suddenly started to have small seizures, I say small in fact for a mum they are bloody terrifying! After a battery of tests and hospital stays they ruled out epilepsy which should have been a relief but as they couldn't come to any conclusion except he has a really slow heart rate we weren't comforted much.

By 13 we saw an amazing doctor who finally gave us a diagnosis, RAS or Reflex Anoxic Seizures. For those of you who might want to know a bit more here is a link to a fantastic website www.stars.org.uk

Through this I've had to learn to let him do all the things that scare me to death, swimming, riding his bike, just being out of my eyesight!

Why am I telling you all this.................after nearly 2 years clear, with his driving test in a couple of weeks and starting college tomorrow, last week he had a seizure, a big one! We're still waiting to find out if he can take his test, he may be allowed, he may never have another fit, most kids grow out of it.

So, I've got my fingers and toes crossed, he's a good little driver!

One small plea...........................I'm not very computer literate, I'm ok but not brilliant and frankly so long as I can get by that's great BUT........................lightbox, I've fiddled for two weeks, I've got bags under my eyes that you could pack for your hols and the more I can't make it work the more I want it!!! Can anyone explain in terms of an idiot where all the bits of code go........please......

And, another grumble............................... As a big big big big Enigma fan why hasn't the single been released on itunes in the UK yet, Germany has it, it's really not fair!

Long Lost Blogger

Returns with apology for being away for so long! Perhaps its the school hols and having the boys around more that is keeping me on my toes, certainly there seems to be more mountains of washing and cleaning but I love having them under my feet! Anyway, just thought I'd drop in say "HI" to my bloggy pals and let you know I haven't forgotten about you.

Despite all the upset and uncertainty this year at home (we have tried so hard to keep things "normal" for the boys, but eldest is 18, astute and clever) he passed both his A Levels with fantastic grades and passed chemistry AS, so he has a year at collage to finish chemistry then probably off to uni.

These beautiful wee treasures are from a set that I bought sometime ago from Isabelle Anderson, I hope she forgives me for taking so long to use some of them, but I love them, they are so tactile. Took this to work with me for "show & tell" ;) and they caused quite a stir, so Izzy, I'm afraid I've given your website to a fair few people........

Well peeps, its a half passable day here, its not raining YET at least so off now to mow the lawn which has grown furiously and I could lose a tribe in its depths............

I went racing last night! I grew up next door to Ascot racecourse and I've never been racing before last night. My dear boss took 11 of us (all expenses paid) to Salisbury races, gave us each £10 for bets and onto a posh meal afterwards to celebrate our Salisbury shops birthday, its a year old!

I decided any winnings I had I was going to donate to our charity, Wateraid so some serious studying of form was called for.........................I decided to bet on the prettiest horses and had 3 winners in 5 races! So, broke even and £10 in our charity box.

I had a really fantastic time.

I've not blogged for days, possibly even a couple of weeks, sorry peeps.................This website thingy has driven me barmy, its been the biggest learning curve ever and to be honest I've had enough now, I want to get back to creating, I've missed it, bead withdrawal bigtime! So, its functional and will have to do for the time being, now I've got to learn to market it, another big learning curve I fear, talk about being dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming.

AND, I've not bought any beads, my favorite beady people have been making the most gorgeous treasures that I've just drooled over from afar, Laura, Caroline and Izzy, watch out, I'm on the prowl, I feel a bead buying spree coming on!

Oh and today its HOT, really hot, lovely blue skies all round, my husband is doing a car boot, getting rid of some of the rubbish thats been lurking in the loft for years and I've got a list of chores a mile long, housework, washing and the grass needs mowing, what fun!

To a very special friend I'd like to say such a big big big THANK YOU! Jo, of Gem Heaven sent me a present........a pair of her beautiful earrings, which I've worn every day since ripping open the package. I'm trying to get a picture that shows just how beautiful they are, and I've longed for a piece of Jo's jewellery since forever. She's lovely and she's my friend!

A Storm In Silver.......

WOW, what a week.....Feeling a little bad about not blogging but the time has just disappeared so apologies all round!

Silver Storm Jewellery has been born! I've a website. Couldn't have Jewellery Craft coz someone else beat me to it so let the kids come up with something somewhere suitable and as we were having a lovely storm (I love storms) at the time Bobs yer uncle, Silver Storm Jewellery. To be honest, I'm not that sure, but they are dead pleased with themselves so heyho....

All I can say to all you computer geeks out there, good on you! I wish I could have afforded to have some sleek and sassy site designed for me but I had to do it for myself and I've not enjoyed the experience. Anyway, please guys go and have a look, It's a bit rudimentary and no online shop yet but getting there slowly and.................I'm putting you lot into the link section, hope you don't mind!

I wanted to thank you all for your unwavering support and friendship!

A commissioned bracelet, when the beads were picked I thought it was going to look kind of boring but it grew on me.

Another commission, a necklace with loads of lovely beads just randomly strung, my heart sank! I'm a very symmetrical person, you know, knicker drawer all sorted into small, medium and large or in my case just large, large and extra large........I can't do random, I just can't. So imagine my horror when struggling to finish this one someone saw it and commissioned another!

And our Gerbil died today...................................I've still to break it to my youngest son! Good start to the weekend!

The lovely Catherine of La Perle has given me another award, that makes 2 in one week. To say I'm thrilled is actually such an understatement, overwhelmed and bouncing about with excitement would be a better description. The "Arte Y Pico" award, how special is that, THANK YOU Catherine! So look out folks, I will be passing it on to some pretty special and talented people soon.

Last weekend was hectic and the week so far has been fairly hellish. My poor sister has brittle bone disease and only a year after breaking her wrist which still has not healed, she tripped over her cat and broke her ankle, so she's in hospital feeling really miserable! The above necklace was made while I waited for news, it kept me occupied and focused, otherwise I may just have been going GA GA with worry. Annie, If your looking in, be up to see you soon with doughnuts!

I had two little beads left over from a set of Caroline Hannon's and was so tempted to stash them away for keeps but they made perfect earrings! Aren't the colours that swirl inside just beautiful.............Caroline, if you make anymore of these, can I have them please. :-)

I've Taken The Plunge..................

And opened an Etsy shop!

After months of deliberating and thinking, I've taken the plunge. I keep looking at all the talented artists there, it really is talent overload and just hope that my stuff "cuts the mustard" so to speak.

This bracelet has to be one of my favorites, the beads are by Caroline Hannon of Crafted Gems and are simply beautiful, the camera hasn't picked up all the lovely colours that swirl around inside, gorgeous.

This one is for Etsy and uses another set of Caroline's beads, I love her beads and want to buy them all and keep them for myself, to hoard and treasure and hold in my hot little hand........am I rambling, sorry, but they are the loveliest, I get very possessive of them.............my precious...............hmmmmmmmm precious, myyyyyyy ppprreciousssssssssssssssss ;)

As you can see, I'm loving the wire and making swirly things, another Etsy piece....................

I had a lovely treat today from a lovely friend! My poor blog has been somewhat neglected, I've had my mum staying with me for a week, its been lovely to catch up, chat and spend some girlie time.......................Anyway, rambling again.....................after a blog free week or so I discovered today that I've been given an award from the very talented, kind, gorgeous and wonderful Caroline of Crafted Gems (if it sounds as if I'm creeping you may well be right, I want to buy more of her lovely lovely beads).

I shall be passing this award on so what out!

Another piece of news, I've managed to get some of my jewellery into a jewellery shop in Bournemouth, sale or return, the terms aren't entirely satisfactory but its a start.

Think I've taken up far too much of your time, nite nite!

I have loved making the swirly wired pendants but wanted to expand on it. I've spent some time with pencil and paper, failing dismally trying to transfer the design to the wire (thankfully, just practice silver plated wire, so haven't filled the scrap pot up).......so I decided to suck it and see, let the wire go on a journey of its own.

I'm immensely pleased with this, my DH thinks it should be called "Storm Tossed".........Hmmmm, not sure about that AND its my first oxidized piece, boy the stuff smells, glad I was outside but might of upset a neighbour to two, its one of those "it wasn't me" smells!

Its possibly not quite right so its just as well that its mine for keeps and I've had the stones for so long that i've no idea what they are, I think they are a jasper of some sort... ;-) It didn't start life as a bracelet but I noticed that it sort of fitted nicely across my wrist and there you have it.

Anyway, I've some time booked off and I'm going down to Devon to see my folks for a few days, I'm leaving my boys (DH, included) to fend for themselves, I dread to think what the house will look like when I get back.

I'm so sorry to show this again but its been NICKED! Went to work with me on Thursday so customer could collect, put it on counter ready to pack up pretty in box etc, spoke to someone on phone, couple of customers came in and I spoke with them, all in all about 15 mins away from counter and it was gone....................................So now I've to make another. Bless their cotton picking bloody socks hey!
