Well, the first draft is done, I should say. This book literally kicked my butt. My characters did not want to play the way I wanted them to and after a week of banging my head on the desk, I finally just let them have their way and finished the book in two days. O_o You have no idea how relieved I feel. LOL I've posted the book blurb on my website if you want to see what Mick has in store for him. It's a doozy!

The minute I finished Mick's book, I immediately started digging through my files and found the Christmas story I started a while back. I have 30 pages of it already written so I'm hoping to get it ready in time for the holidays. I have plenty of time but anyone who reads my blog knows how lazy my muse is. He needs constant whippings to get him to work and I wrestle with him more than I should but what can you do? I just wait him out and he eventually comes around.

I've been up ALL NIGHT LONG getting this story finished and I'm dead tired. It's now... 8am and as useless as it seems to sleep 'now' I have to at least have a nap. It has taken me four days to finally figure out ‘what’ that roadblock is. I knew when the writing just... stopped, that I’d done something wrong. Well, that and staring at the blinking curser on word for days. I rushed the story and apparently my characters didn’t like it. They refused to play so I’ve back up over 20 pages and took a different road. We’ll see how it goes when Mick gets ‘his’ way for a change. <wink>
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-81125424788145002522009-06-29T13:09:00.002-05:002009-06-29T13:12:07.580-05:00Get Wicked: Jade Butterfly at a 15% Discount! My new release, Wicked: Jade Butterfly is now available at Fictionwise.Com at a 15% discount! Will Jessi get more than she bargained for when the man she thought she knew turns out to be so much more? And can Christian hold on to the girl of his dreams when a misunderstanding threatens to tear them apart?

Excerpt of Wicked: Jade Butterfly

Chapter 1

“What about, ‘I’m going to have sex with you tonight. You might as well be there to enjoy it.’”

Christian Palmer choked on his drink and coughed, trying to clear his throat. He looked up and shook his head. When he’d caught his breath, he said, “No. Pass.”

“If I tossed this quarter, what are the chances of me getting head?”

“Absolutely not!”

Mick laughed. “Come on, man. You only get three passes and you’ve already used them all.”

“I don’t care,” Christian said. “There’s no way I’m saying that to a complete stranger.”

“That’s the whole point.”

“Forget it. I’ll take my humiliation in small doses if that’s all right with you.”

“Humiliation is the whole point,” Mick said, grinning. “Now pick one of these.”

“But it’s my birthday. I should be watching you three make fools out of yourselves.”
Devin grinned and reached across the table, grabbing another card. “Not going to happen, my friend. Holly would kill me. Besides, you’re the one sitting alone on your birthday. Now, choose.”

Christian ran a hand through his hair, dislodging the dark strands as another card was read. Like every other night out when they found themselves in a club, the pick-up game was in full force. The cards, with the cheesiest pick-up lines known to man were laid out on the table and his band mates were trying to find one for him. Finding a card wasn’t the problem. Having to walk up to a strange woman and actually say what was written on it was.

Since Luke and Devin now had steady girlfriends, it was up to Mick and himself to provide the entertainment of the game and the guys had decided that tonight, it was all on him.

Luke tapped the table with his knuckle to get his attention. “How about, I lost my keys. Can I check your pants?”

“No.”

“I’ve already had sex with you five times while you were sleeping. Want to make it six?”

“No.”

“My favorite number is 69?”

Christian laughed and stared across the hotel bar, trying to ignore them. He knew he was blushing as the cards were being read. He could feel the heat burn his face and neck. Everyone’s laughter only caused it to burn hotter.

Why they tortured him with this game when they knew he hated it was beyond his comprehension. Like asking a girl out wasn’t nerve wracking enough for him. To have to approach a woman with one of those cards was the worst humiliation he could think of. Not that the cards deterred women from following him back to his room. You could say anything to a woman when she realized you were a member of the band Wicked and know without a shadow of a doubt, you’d get laid.

The fact they were forcing the game on him tonight shouldn’t have been such a surprise. It was his birthday, after all, and he was dateless.
“Are you juveniles still torturing Christian?”

Christian turned his head at the sound of Roxy’s voice. Luke’s girlfriend smiled at him and grabbed the cards Luke was holding before sitting down beside him. She read over the cards, grinning before tossing them back to the table. “He’ll never find a woman with these.”

“Finding a woman isn’t the point,” Devin said. “He’s Christian Palmer. All he has to do is speak and women will fall all over themselves to be his date for the evening. The fact he has to say this to them when he approaches them just makes it fun.”

“And cruel,” Holly said when she joined them.

Devin laughed at his girlfriends comment. “It’s not cruel. We’ve all done it.”

“You’ve actually picked up a woman with one of these horrible pick-up lines?”

“Yes.”

She rolled her eyes and grabbed a few of the cards. “Wonders never cease.”
“What we say to a woman isn’t important. It’s who we are that matters.” He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. “Tell me you didn’t want me the minute you knew who I was?”

Holly snorted a laugh. “No. You were an asshole. Although this card,” she said, waving it in front of him, “may have saved you from an immediate let down. I would have been laughing too hard to say no.”

Christian listened to them talk and scanned the bar. He really didn’t need their help finding a date. Devin had been right about that. Being a member of the band had its advantages. One of them being the fact that women walked all over each other to get close to them, even him. But, finding someone to fill his bed for a night then disappearing wasn’t what he wanted. He wanted more than a string of one-night stands. He wanted to find her. The one girl made just for him. The one who would be there forever.

“This is the last one, Christian. Take it or we’ll pick the worst out of the lot for you.”

He looked over at Mick and took the card from him. His eyes widened when he read it. “This is worse than any you’ve read.”

“No its not,” Mick grinned. “I can find one ten times more humiliating.”

“Fine.” He bit his tongue before shoving the card in his pocket and stood.

“And he’s going for it!” Luke said, laughing. “Go get ‘em, tiger.”

Christian lifted his hand, raising his middle finger and flipped the guys off before walking away. Ignoring their taunts, he made his way through the throng of people crowding their table. Stopping by the bar, he waited for the bar tender and ordered a drink, gulping it down and waiting for the fire to hit his stomach. No matter how much he drank, it wasn’t enough to dull the gut wrenching fear he had at approaching a complete stranger.

He glanced back over his shoulder. The guys were watching him. Waiting. “Why me?” he asked no one. Turning, he scanned the club again. The light was dim but the bright flashes of blue and red from the overhead lights illuminated the people crowding the bar enough for him to see.

Blondes, brunettes and redheads as far as the eye could see met his pursuing gaze. “Ennie-minnie-mino-mo,” he said to himself.

He smiled when a blonde crossed in front of him and looked his way. He knew by the look on her face she’d be a sure bet. He’d seen the look a thousand times. If he just stood there long enough, someone would come to him and he was half tempted to do just that. But it was the standing there and waiting part that he didn’t like. Besides, the guys preferred he approach someone, not the other way around.

He sighed and leaned back against the bar. His band mates made it look so easy. All Luke ever had to do was look at a girl and she was falling all over herself to be with him. Devin and Mick only had to speak. Women loved them and spent every night in their presence trying to get them in their beds. He’d had his share of prospects too, but not like the others. Women wanted them, the bad boys of rock. They weren’t drawn to the quiet one. The one who had to fight a blush when a woman looked his way.
He’d been the butt of their jokes for years and he’d taken them all in stride. He was the quiet one. He was the guy who stood in the background while life moved around him in a blur of movement. But it wasn’t only sleeping with any one woman that interested him. He wanted… more. He wanted someone who would always be there. Someone who loved him, not the bass player for the band Wicked. He wanted a woman who wanted Christian Palmer—small town boy from Kansas.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he straightened his spine. “Okay,” he said, quietly. “Who is it going to be?”

He searched the club, letting his gaze fall on every woman he saw. The redhead by the dance floor was pretty. Too tall for his tastes, though. The blonde next to her wore too much make-up. Another blonde. Too few clothes on that one. Nothing was left to the imagination and he was almost positive he’d get laid before they made it out the door but she wasn’t very pretty.

He sighed and leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest and stared at the sea of bodies.

It didn’t really matter if he found one attractive or not. It wasn’t like he would be taking her back to the room with him, even if the card proved successful. Which he had no doubt it would be. When the woman he picked realized who he was, he was as good as laid.

A brunette crossed in front of him and the scent of wild orchids filled the air. He turned his head, watching her walk away. The green dress she wore fit snuggly over rounded hips and was backless, giving him a glimpse of tanned skin and a thin waist. Her chestnut brown hair was pinned up. Small curls were left to dangle across her bare shoulders and he followed her without thought. When she stopped at the end of the bar, he hesitated a few moments before closing the distance between them.

When he stopped behind her his eye was drawn to a tattoo on her back. A butterfly with wings of green and black hung low on her right side. He smiled while looking at it.

Reaching into his pocket, he grabbed the card again and cringed when he read it. He should have taken the first one Mick read. It wasn’t nearly as provocative as this one was, especially if he had to say it to her. Of every woman in the club, she was the only one who peeked his interest and he hadn’t even seen her face.

The thought made him cringe suddenly. God, what if she’s ugly? She could be a complete butter-face. He looked her over from head to toe. It would be his luck to find a gorgeous woman who had a face of a bulldog. He’d seen his share, too. Beautiful women who men would kill to touch… only to realize everything was perfect but her face.

He grinned while taking a leisurely look of her backside before shaking his head. There’s no way this woman is ugly. Not with a body like that. She walked with confidence, her head held high and the dress she wore told him she knew how to draw attention. No, a woman like that was probably way out of his league. Rock star or not, he’d never have a snowballs chance in hell of hooking up with her.

But what if you’re wrong? He glanced back over his shoulder at the guys and Mick gave him a “thumbs up.” He grinned before turning back to the girl. What if she didn’t turn him down? What if she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen and he let her walk away without even trying? What if he did try and she laughed in his face?

He pushed his last thought away and shoved the card back into his pocket. Clearing his throat, he opened his mouth to speak to her. Nothing came out. It felt as if his tongue grew three sizes in that moment. His pulse raced and a bead of sweat trickled down his spine.

When she started to walk away, he reached out and touched her arm. “Excuse me.”
She turned and the look of surprise on her face when she looked up at him must have matched his own. He knew this girl. His racing heart skipped a beat, much like it did the first time he met her two months ago in New York. The same way it did anytime he thought of her, which was on a daily basis. Anytime he saw the promotional photos for the tour, he thought of her.

She’d caught his attention the moment she walked into her photography studio. She was sassy, gorgeous and looked as if she had the world by the balls and he would have happily let her lead him around by his.

How many days since meeting her had he spent wondering what she was doing? Where she was? If she even remembered him? And now, here she stood like a vision straight out of a fantasy.

Neither of them said a word for long moments. She was the first to recover from the shock. She smiled and glanced around the club before looking back at him. “Hey.”

“Hey,” he said. He felt his face flame and was grateful the room was dark. He cleared his throat and smiled. “I remember you. The photographer from New York, right?”

“Yes. Jessi McClure,” she said, holding her hand out. He took it, grasping her hand in his.

The moment he touched her hand, heat traveled up his arm and exploded throughout his body. His muscles tensed and the perfume she was wearing washed over him in a wild rush. “Christian Palmer,” he said, letting his fingers brush her skin before letting her hand go.

“I remember.” She smiled and glanced around the room again.

He stared down at her, speechless. She was more beautiful than he remembered. She was nearly as tall as he was, the top of her head reaching his shoulders and her slight frame was round in all the right places. The dress she wore was cut low in the front, giving him a glimpse of high, pert breast and he suppressed a moan at the sight of her.

When he met her gaze again, he noticed her slightly wide eyes. She was fidgeting from foot to foot and looked ready to run. That wasn’t a reaction he received from women often. It was always him ready to run. Was she nervous or just wanting to be somewhere else?

He chanced a look over his shoulder. The guys were still watching and he wanted to kick their asses. By the look on their faces, they loved this. His humiliation was the price of their glee.

Looking back over at Jessi, he ran a hand through his hair, wondering what to do now. The card was burning a hole in his pocket and he knew he couldn’t actually read that damn thing to her and not die of embarrassment.

But did he really have a choice? It was either her or someone else and a complete stranger would be worse. He knew that from experience. Maybe he didn’t need to read it. He smiled as an idea came to him.

“I’m in need of a favor,” Christian said. “Care to help me out?”

“If I can.”

Jessi smiled at him again and he forgot to breathe. How could any man look at this woman and not want her? She probably has a boyfriend, he told himself, taking in her features. The plump fullness of her lips, the small uplifted nose and her soft tawny brown eyes reminded him of a Hollywood starlet. She definitely has a boyfriend. No one that gorgeous is single.

She shifted on her feet again and he knew she was getting ready to leave. The small hint of fear some girls got when he was speaking to them was shining brightly in her eyes. He wasn’t sure if it was him or something else causing it but if he was going to do this, it had to be quick.

He swallowed the humiliation his friends had thrown at him and cleared his throat again. “The guys have this game they like to play and I’m the unlucky participant of their fun tonight. I’ll spare you the horrible details so if you have a few minutes, just pretend I said the most outrageous thing you’ve ever heard.”

She raised an eyebrow at him and glanced across the club. He followed her gaze and groaned when the guys waved back at them.

“So, what’s the game?” she asked.

“It’s a pick-up game.”

“A pick-up game?”

“Yes,” he said. “They have a deck of cards with the most humiliating pick-up lines known to man. They get to pick the card and I have to find someone to say it to.”

“And you picked me to hit on?”

He grinned when she flashed him a devastating smile. It lit her entire face and made her eyes sparkle. It also made his already racing pulse nearly choke him as his blood pounded through his veins.

He pulled the card from his pocket and discreetly handed it to her so the guys wouldn’t see. When she looked down at it, reading the line, her soft, feminine giggle nearly brought him to his knees. It danced along his spine and caused visions of her wrapped in silk to caress his thoughts. For the first time ever, he wanted that damn card to actually do what it was supposed to. Entice someone to follow him back to his room.

When she glanced up at him, he sucked in a quiet breath. The clubs colored lights reflected off her hair and cast a halo of blues and greens around her. Her eyes sparkled in the light and a rosy hue tinted her cheeks. Beautiful didn’t even begin to describe her. She was the most glorious thing he’d ever seen.

“So, you’re supposed to read me the card and… what, exactly?”

He blushed. He felt it like a living thing crawl over his features and steal what little air he had in his lungs. “Well,” he said. He swallowed the sudden lump in his throat and glanced over his shoulder. The guys were still watching him. When he faced Jessi, he noticed her staring at the guys as well. “Um, normally… I mean, when I read the card, whoever I’ve read it to, usually laughs… and then invites herself back to my hotel.”

“Really?” Jessi said. She smiled and leaned her hip on the bar. “And how many girls have you seduced with one of these lame cards?”

“Me personally?” He grinned and felt his face burn hotter. “None. I don’t play this game unless I’m forced.”

“And why don’t I believe you?”

“Because Luke’s reputation rubs off on the rest of us?”

She laughed. “You’re probably right.” Glancing back down at the card, she read it again, smiling before handing it back to him. “Well, your still being watched,” she said, glancing over his shoulder to where the guys sat. “I guess you better do your duty and read this to me.”

He stared at her in shock, watching an amused twinkle shine brightly in her eyes before taking the card and reading it again himself. He cringed. She wanted him to read this to her? Out loud? He’d rather be tied to an anthill butt ass naked and covered in honey than read this card to her.

When she took a step closer to him and the scent of wild orchids filled the air, he suppressed a moan and licked his lips.

She smiled up at him, silently encouraging him. “They’re just words, Christian,” she said. “Read me the card. I promise not to bite.”

Wicked: Jade Butterfly will be available on Sunday, June 28th at Alinar Publishing!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LxOPSkCaOi8/SkZ081YllMI/AAAAAAAAAHo/TJi1WsLQgkU/s320/wickedsweet2sm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352093795647591618" /> Wicked: Sweet Temptation [Wicked Series Book 4] Mick’s story Coming Soon!!

Find ALL my books at: LilyGraison.Com!!
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-24017795601702872732009-06-24T18:53:00.002-05:002009-06-24T18:56:06.230-05:00Contest Deadline...The contest for a FREE copy of my new book, WICKED: JADE BUTTERFLY is fast approaching. I looked them up online and found tons of old laws still on the books for every state. I spent an hour going through them all and thought I’d share a few with you.

Outdated Laws in North Carolina:
- It's against the law to sing off key.
- Elephants may not be used to plow cotton fields.
- While having sex, you must stay in the missionary position and have the shades pulled.
- If a man and a woman who aren't married go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as married then, according to state law, they are legally married.

In South Carolina:
- By law, if a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, the marriage must take place.
- No work may be done on Sunday.
- An exception to the above law is that light bulbs may be sold.
- Horses may not be kept in bathtubs.
- It is perfectly legal to beat your wife on the courthouse steps on Sundays.

In Tennessee:
- You can't shoot any game other that whales from a moving automobile.
- It is legal to gather and consume road-kill.
- Illegal for a woman to drive a car unless there is a man either running or walking in front of it waving a red flag to warn approaching motorists and pedestrians.(In Memphis only)

In Texas:
- It is illegal to milk another person's cow.
- The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home.
- Obnoxious odors may not be emitted while in an elevator.

In California:
- Women may not drive in a house coat.
- You are not permitted to wear cowboy boots unless you already own at least two cows.
- Driving a herd of cattle down a street is against the law.
- Detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine.

In New York:
- The penalty for jumping off a building is death
- It is illegal to disrobe in a wagon.

In North Dakota:
- It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep with your shoes on.
- Beer and pretzels can't be served at the same time in any bar or restaurant.

In Utah:
- It is illegal to detonate any nuclear weapon. You can have them, but you just can't detonate them.
- It is illegal not to drink milk.
- Women may not swear.
- Throwing snowballs will result in a $50 fine.
- It is against the law to open a soda bottle without the supervision of a licensed engineer.

In Washington State:
- A law to reduce crime states: "It is mandatory for a motorist with criminal intentions to stop at the city limits and telephone the chief of police as he is entering the town".
- Men who deflower virgins, regardless of age or marital status, may face up to five years in jail.
- Women who sit on men's laps on buses or trains without placing a pillow between them face an automatic six-month jail term.
- No one may set fire to another person's property without prior permission.

Okay...those were a few of my favorites. If I didn’t get to your state, go take a look at the outdated laws; they’re worth the laugh! I found these at: http://www.bitoffun.com/stupid_laws.htm
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-21223419426592000932009-06-16T08:09:00.001-05:002009-06-16T08:14:05.642-05:00eBook PiracyI was just looking at my websites stats and was surprised to see how many people have been googling me. Its not that I was googled that caused the shock, its what the key words were: lily graison stories for free…wicked series free…tempt me not free…the list goes on. I find it odd that people would want something that costs so little for free. The Wicked series books cost $2.99 each. That’s less than what it costs you to eat lunch at McDonalds.

The long-standing debate of eBook piracy will likely never come to an end and I, like many authors, have no solution for the problem. I’m sure I don’t need to explain what I’m talking about but in case someone out there doesn’t know, I’ll spell it out for you.

If you take an ebook, one you’ve purchased or received from a friend, and redistribute that book to another person through email, files sharing systems/website or make printed copies to hand out, you have violated copyright laws. EBooks don’t hold the same rights as a print book you’ve purchased does. It’s not a tangible thing so, in essence, you don’t own it. You aren’t allowed to give it away or let a friend borrow it.

The best way I can think of to explain it is like this: When you buy a paperback book, read it and loved it, you can share it with a friend. You hand them the ONE book you have in your hand and send it on its way. When you buy an eBook and pass it along to that same friend, you’ve sent them one COPY because you still have the original copy you bought…then your friend sends it to her friend, so there’s another copy because you and your friend still have their copy….you just made another to give away so your one book is now 3. The cycle continues and hopefully one of those friends doesn’t decide to post your eBook copy on a file sharing system because them you have thousands of copies flying through the interwebs all because you gave ONE friend a ‘copy’ of an eBook. Now the author of that book you loved made, on average, anywhere from $3.00 – $5.00 on that one purchase you made (actually, chances are she only made 35% of that. The publisher get the majority of it) and the 700 copies that are now floating around the internet because of your ONE copy doesn’t give the author anything in return. Your author spent months writing, then a few more with an editor getting it all shiny, only to have 700 copies of her book stolen. And that’s exactly what those ‘extra’ copies are. Stolen material. The author doesn’t benefit from it at all. Sure people may read the story and love it but they won’t bother emailing the author to let her know that, they’ll just goggle her again using the keywords: Author X stories for free and the cycle continues.

I can’t remember who said it, but I saw the other day, another author say eBook piracy was like someone coming into her home and taking her stuff while she sat on the sofa and watched them. And that’s exactly how it is. It takes me months to write a story because I’m picky about how it comes out. I know I’m not perfect but I try to be regardless of that fact. I want my stories to be the best they can be so by the time they reach you, the readers, it’s as flawless as it can be. I can understand the frustration authors feel. No one is getting rich from writing. No One. Even the ‘big name authors’ aren’t. Of the $7.99 cover price you pay for that print book from Barnes and Noble, the author receives 6% of that. They have to sell millions of copies to make anything from it and those of us in the eBook world? LOL We’re losing before we even begin.

My intention wasn’t to come on and rant but I’ve seen this issue pop up so much lately that when I saw people were actually searching out free copies of my book, I felt the need to say something about it. I love the fact people want to read me…I just wish those same people would to repay me for my hard work by tossing a few bucks at me for my effort. If I wanted to give it all away, I wouldn’t stick a price tag on it. I can’t live off air alone. Stealing is a crime, whether its food, clothing or books.
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-19294119562651284642009-06-15T15:51:00.001-05:002009-06-15T15:53:18.628-05:00Free eBook copy of Wicked: Jade ButterflyI'm hosting a contest for a FREE copy of WICKED: JADE BUTTERFLY over at my Yahoo!Group. There’s nothing better than the smell of fresh-cut grass, barbeque grills filling the air with the scent of charcoal and burgers, the sun shining brightly while lounging in the pool and the nights, when the sun goes down and the tree frogs start singing and the lightening bugs spark the yard with a mini-light show. If I could have one wish, it would be to have summer all year long.

That is until a summer storm rolls through. Especially if it’s like the one we had last night.

I hadn’t even noticed it was raining last night until a huge boom of thunder shook the house and a flash of light so bright it lit up my living room, nearly caused me to pee my pants. When I looked up, I saw fireworks outside my window. Lightening had struck a power-pole in front of my house. It snapped the line, which fell across the road and started a fire in my neighbor’s front yard. I called 911 and we waited, while watching cars fly down the road, only to slam on their breaks when they saw the downed lines and skid to a slippery stop. My 4-year-old grandson was here and to say he was excited when a fire truck pulled up in front of the house fifteen minutes later would be an understatement. He was thrilled and kept pointing and jabbering away.

The power company finally arrived half an hour later and we sat in total darkness for 2 hours while they restored the lines. The freakish storm blew over as they worked and by the time they left, stars numbering in the hundreds hovered above the house.

Tonight, its perfect. The sky is clear, the air is warm and I can hear live things rustle in the darkness. If it weren’t for the bugs, I’d live outside in the summer time. I love it like nothing else. It’s the perfect time of year to sit back, grab a glass of sweet tea and just enjoy being alive.
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-61466687655340050042009-06-01T15:30:00.003-05:002009-06-15T15:34:07.817-05:00Excerpt for Wicked: Jade Butterfly!I have the story page finished for WICKED: JADE BUTTERFLY and have posted a really LONG excerpt for it. I always get a little down after I finish a story. I’m not really sure why. Probably because I spent months ‘inside their head and world’ and when they’re not there anymore, its like I lost a friend. I don’t have them there with me daily and the loss is kind of personal. Sounds crazy, right? Lol I’m sure it’s the same for readers though. It is for me, especially when I find that ONE book that wraps me up inside a world I don’t want to let go of. When you get to the last page and get that sense of loss because there’s no more. Those characters you came to care for are no longer there and no matter how much you think about them, you know that what you have is all you’re going to get. It’s the same with writing. Once the story is told, you have no choice but to put them out of your mind and move one. Easier for some, not so much for me. That’s why it takes me so long to get another story started. I have a grieving process. When a book is done, I immerse myself in other worlds to try and let go of my characters. I’m almost there. Good thing too. I have a lot on my plate yet for the rest of the year. Wicked 4 (Mick’s story) has to be finished and this years Christmas story, both of which have been started. There are less than 15 pages of both but it’s a start. Better than nothing, I always say.

So, for the remainder of the year? Wicked 4, due for release in September. The Christmas story (for December) and I think I’ll finish that 60-page ‘paranormal/shifter’ story I’ve been playing with forever. Of course, I have a fairy/fantasy story, a dragon that has begged to tell his story, my fierce Warlord and a couple of vampires. My plate is full. Now, if I’d just get out of my funk and start writing! Wish me luck.
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-88480379331030015442009-05-02T07:09:00.001-05:002009-05-02T07:09:34.801-05:001st Round EditsI’m starting the first round of edits on Wicked 3. It’s been penciled in for a June 28th release date, which means I have to get moving! I have a month to get it all shiny and squeaky-clean. I’ve already started on Mick’s story, the last book in this series. I have loved every minute of playing with the 4 guys in this band but I have a testy Warlord who has been whispering in my ear for months now. He wants to play and who am I to deny him? Besides, I’m more than ready to play with him too. *evil grin*
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-50395940155194739812009-04-20T02:47:00.001-05:002009-04-20T02:47:25.439-05:00Gaining GroundAfter the many starts, deletes and re-starts of Wicked 3, the muse has finally sunk his teeth in and starting getting it right. I’ve barreled through the sorry this week, finally hitting the ‘50 page’ mark. We’re halfway through now. I’m averaging anywhere from 7-10 pages a day so I’m thinking the first draft will be finished this time next week. I’ll jump right into Wicked 4, Mick’s story, to try and clear my head of Christian’s story. It’s always good to let a story go ‘cold’ in your head before trying to do a second draft on it. If it’s too fresh, you just don’t see things clearly and end up leaving the not so good parts in.

I’m not sure when Wicked 3 will be released. I’m hoping I can have it all cleaned up, sent off for edits and have it back for a June release. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out that way.
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-32380034730705936702009-04-13T18:00:00.002-05:002009-04-13T18:00:59.685-05:00Plodding along...HOME: After a hair-pulling week of bookkeeping, I FINALLY got my taxes done! Yay! I'm the worlds biggest procrastinator, as many of you know, and even something as important as my taxes get left to the last minute. LOL 2 days left to spare but they’re gone now. Pheww!

WORK: I’ve had to trash all 8,000+ words of Christian’s story (Wicked3) and start from scratch. The storyline just wasn’t working. Well, that’s not true. It was working. It would have just ended up being a mini-novel and we can’t have that. These are short stories, after all so, I’ve re-plotted the entire thing, going in a completely different direction. Side effect of this? I will miss my targeted release date of May 2009. Bummer, I know. No one wants this done more than me. I love writing about these guys but I have a slight case of ADHD, I think, so I’m ready to play in other sandboxes! Hehehe. I have a warlord waiting on me and I sooo want to play with him. *wink*

Anyway, I’m still writing on Wicked 3 and hope to get it done soon. Then on the Mick’s story, which will be an easy write. He whispers to me daily and I have to force myself not to give in to him. He’s desperate for attention. Just like a man, isn’t it?
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-23103158504047624352009-04-10T12:54:00.001-05:002009-04-10T12:56:18.870-05:00Personal Favorite! It’s cool and rainy here today, despite it being April, and this type of weather makes me think of cold nights and great comfort food. One of our favorites is Taco Soup, which I’m preparing for supper tonight. I thought I’d share the recipe with you. It’s a great, slow cook meal and perfect cool days.

Taco Soup
2 lbs. Ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cans Mexican style tomatoes (Ro-Tel) chopped (you want hot chilies in the tomatoes!)
1 (15oz.) can pinto beans with jalapeno pepper
1 (15oz.) can pinto beans (plain)
1 can Ranch style beans
1 (16oz.) can whole kernel corn
1 tsp. Taco seasoning mix

Garnishes
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Tortilla Chips
Sour cream

In a large skillet, brown beef and onions; drain excess fat. Add all other ingredients (*Do not drain any of the cans. You’ll need the juices for the soup) except cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.

Top soup bowls off with cheese and sour cream and serve with tortilla chips.

Serves 10. This soup can be frozen for later.

Personal notes: In this part of the country it’s hard to find pinto with jalapeno peppers so, I just use regular canned pinots for that as well. Also, I prepare this is a slow cooker instead of on the stove. I brown my beef and onions and throw everything into the crock-pot and let it cook all day on low. Enjoy!
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-17045593127316444462009-04-04T23:41:00.003-05:002009-04-05T20:42:46.751-05:00Book Trailer!I've been procrastinating again but I have actual work to show for it. The chance to meet Luke in person was a dream come true. Even better if her ultimate fantasy of finding herself in his bed were to happen. One way or another, she was determined to have him. That is, if Holly’s hair-brained idea of playing hard to get doesn’t backfire in her face.

Luke Harris loves women and they love him. Roxy finally gets a small taste of Luke!

———-

Roxy made her way to the bar wanting to kick her own ass every step of the way. Where was her `go get `em’ attitude when she needed it? That little blonde wasn’t anything to get worked up over, yet just sitting there watching her cuddle up with Luke was enough to cause thoughts of violence to override clear judgment. She wanted to hurt her. Bad. But really, who could blame her? She’d do the exact same thing given her position. It was the fact that she wasn’t in that position that stung.

Sighing heavily, she stopped at the bar, waiting several minutes until the bartender spotted her before ordering. “Tequila. Make it a double.”

“Make that two.”

Roxy turned her head at the sound of Luke’s voice and barely kept the smile on her face from making her look insane. Had he followed her? She looked back at the table, noticing the blonde still sitting there, her attention now centered on Mick. So, she was one of those, was she? “Is Mick going to give your girlfriend back before the night is over?” she said, motioning to the table with a tilt of her head.

Luke glanced back over his shoulder, smiling as he turned and faced Roxy again. “I’m growing rather bored of blondes. I’m in the mood for… brunettes tonight,” he said, lifting a strand of her hair and rubbing it between his fingers. She locked eyes with him, her pulse quickening when he leaned forward and smelled her hair.

Roxy smiled, glancing away from him when the bartender placed their drinks in front of them. Luke said something to the man behind the bar and Roxy wasn’t at all surprised when a saltshaker and a bowl of limes appeared. So, tequila shots, was it?

He turned to her, his gaze sliding across her skin in a slow, lingering caress before saying, “You up for a little adventure, Roxy?”

Roxy swallowed to moisten her throat. “What did you have in mind?”

He grinned and glanced down at her breasts. Roxy’s heart skipped a beat when he did. She knew then what he wanted and lord help her, there was no way she could let this man do body shots off of her and not straddle him right where he stood.

But the game worked both ways didn’t it?

She looked at the white button-up shirt Luke wore underneath his leather jacket. The first several buttons were undone and she could see a hint of skin peeking out from behind the fabric. Would Holly consider this cheating? It was just a quick game of lick and suck, right? As long as she didn’t let it go too far, her friend couldn’t complain.

Holding his gaze, she smiled before reaching out and picking up one of the small lime wedges. “Where do you want it?” she asked.

He grinned and took a step closer to her. “Places that aren’t legal in public.”

Roxy glanced around them, noticing more than a few people interested in them. Luke was drawing attention and even though he seemed to have no qualms about what he did in public, she wasn’t an exhibitionist. Normally.

Taking the lime from her hand, he reached out, wrapping an arm around her waist, and pulling her tight against him. “How about we work our way down?” he said, placing the lime between her lips.

She almost gasped when he leaned forward, his lips trailing across her chin to her throat, his tongue slicking a path to the side of her neck and leaving a rush of goose bumps in its wake. She arched her back and closed her eyes when the warm, wet stroke of his tongue slid up her neck a second before the small flakes of salt hit her skin.

Locking eyes with him, she grabbed his arm, holding her breath when he slid his shot glass closer. “Ready?”

A small nod of her head was all she managed. Her vocal cords were suddenly frozen. He gave her a smile that nearly did her in before he once again leaned in and licked the salt from her skin. The drink was swallowed quickly and the next second, those luscious lips were surrounding hers. Instinct caused her to clamp down on the lime wedge and to her delight, Luke did exactly what she hoped and forced his tongue in her mouth to get it.

Dear lord, she didn’t know what was better… being in his arms, tasting his sweet lips, or having his tongue swirl around hers in a
ferocious tangle.

She inhaled deeply when he drew back, watching him chew the fruit before he reached for another. “Your turn, beautiful.”

Roxy grinned when he placed the lime wedge between his lips and pulled the material of his shirt wider and bared his neck. She reached up, lacing her fingers through his hair and tilted his head back and leaned toward him. His scent overwhelmed her and she wanted to crawl inside his skin.

She took her shot from his throat, sucking the thin skin into her mouth before salting it and grabbing her glass. He gazed down at her, a tiny smile lifting one corner of his mouth before he wrapped his hand in her hair and pulled her closer to his body.

The entire act lasted seconds. The taste of him washed away by salt and tequila before that wicked tongue was once again in her mouth. The fruit flavored kiss lasted longer than the first, Luke’s hand locking her head in place and she wasn’t about to complain. Kissing around a piece of fruit wasn’t an easy task but Luke made it seem natural. And god, could this man kiss.

His next shot nearly did her in. He nuzzled her breasts, his breath warming the soft flesh peeking above the top of her dress, and she closed her eyes at the sensation. The feel of his lips and tongue caused shivers to run laps up and down her spine and her nipples tingled and hardened in anticipation.

The kiss that followed caused her to moan deep in her throat. She sagged against him, holding on to his arms for support when he tilted her head to deepen the kiss.

The loud whoops and yells from the crowd finally caught Roxy’s attention and she broke the kiss. Their small group of onlookers had grown and heat crawled up her chest to land on her face. She glanced at every one watching them and one face in particular drew her attention. Holly. Her friend was shaking her head and smiling along with everyone else but the look on her face let her know she was about to blow the whole play it hard to get plan.

Reluctantly, she pulled away from him, taking a step back. “I think our audience has grown.”

Luke looked at the gathering crowd and chuckled. “I’m used to a crowd,” he said, dipping his head and whispering in her ear, “I’d like to take my next taste a little lower. You want to make this party private and head back to the hotel?”

And there it was, Roxy thought. Her invitation to his bed. She knew without a doubt that was exactly where she’d end up if she agreed and damn Holly and her dumb ass plans! This man was doing exactly as she’d hoped and what was she going to do?

She looked at Holly, gave her the best pleading look she could, only to have her friend laugh and say no. She sighed and looked back at Luke. “As tempting as that offer is, I’ll have to decline… tonight.”

Roxy could have laughed at the expression on his face. It looked as if he didn’t hear her at first then his smile fell away and he frowned.

“Decline?”

“Yes. I don’t even know you,” she said.

“Exactly why I offered to take our party elsewhere,” he grinned. “I’ll assure you, by tomorrow morning, you’ll know plenty
about me.”

Smiling to keep from grinding her teeth, Roxy leaned in to him, rubbing herself against him and said, “The nights still young. Besides, I came to dance.”

She took a step back from him, sliding her hand across his stomach as she moved away from the bar and prayed to every god known to man he’d follow her. She glared at Holly while making her way to the dance floor. Her friend was laughing. Roxy saw her lean over and say something to Devin, who turned his attention to Luke. His answering laugh only made it worse.

She shook off her irritation at them and moved to the center of the dance floor. Just as she suspected, it only took her a second to find a willing dance partner. The urge to look over her shoulder to see what Luke was doing almost killed her. Was he headed back to the blonde now? She felt sick even thinking it. She’d kill Holly if he did. She bit back the temptation to look and set her hips into motion, swaying to the beat of the music.

Closing her eyes, she let the song move through her, her limbs following the rhythm and losing herself in the heavy beat while her unseen dance partner wrapped his arms around her.

A quick look at his face caused her to smile. He was nice looking. Not the drop-dead sexy man she wished to be dancing with, but hardly a burden. If she were in L.A., and looking for someone to fill her bed, he’d definitely do. She could have done worse, she supposed.

The song ended and a slower one replaced the fast, thumping beats she’d been dancing to and her partner took advantage of the change in tempo. His arms tightened around her waist and he leaned forward, nuzzling the side of her neck without invitation. She’d barely got her arms up around his shoulders when she felt someone brush against her back. An arm slid around her waist from behind and she was pulled into the warmth of a massive chest.

She grinned when she heard Luke tell her dance partner to “get lost.” To her surprise, he did. She turned her head, looking over
her shoulder. He was grinning at her.

“Okay, maybe I didn’t make my self clear,” he said, cradling her body in his arms.

“About what?”

He nuzzled the side of her neck and Roxy felt light headed. He ground his hips into her backside and she was pleasantly surprised to find him excited. The obvious bulge pushing into her butt caused her knees to go weak.

“About you coming back to the hotel with me,” he rasped in her ear.

“Oh, I’ll definitely go back. I’m staying there too.”

“In my bed?”

Roxy laughed. “Only if you’re a good boy.”

“Oh, I can be very good,” Luke promised, leaning down to brush a kiss on the side of her neck. Roxy’s eyes closed when he placed a series of warm, wet kisses to her skin and shivered at the feel of his tongue stroking her flesh. “It’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.”

“I’m sure it will,” she whispered.

He kept a firm grip on her waist but lowered one hand, skimming her hip before reaching the edge of her skirt. His fingers danced along her thigh, light, gentle strokes teasing her flesh. They swayed to the music, Luke’s breath warm against her skin and Roxy raised her arm, wrapping it around his neck and closing her eyes. She lost herself in the feel of him. The warmth of his body ignited her senses and his free hand roamed her flesh until goose bumps pimpled her skin.

She opened her eyes when she felt his fingers brush against the front of her panties and tried to control her breathing. She glanced around at the other dancers, looking to see if anyone was paying any attention to them, but to her amazement, no one was.

His probing fingers found the edge of the silk covering her and she gasped when one lone digit crawled under the edge of her panties.

“Someone’s a naughty girl,” he whispered in her ear, rubbing the soft bare skin between her legs. He gave her a brief, wicked smile before he captured her lips, forcing his tongue into her mouth.

—–

I’m giving away an ARC [advance reader copy] of Wicked: Leather and Lace. I’m way behind. I should have finsihed already but I’ve had my nose buried in a book all week, or rather, books, I should say. I read 7 this past week. I can’t help it, I love to read as much as I love to write.

When editing a book, I go half blind looking for typos. My editor and my reader can only find so many so I always worry one has slipped by us. It happened with That First Christmas. I caught one in that story the day before I sent it in. I’ll never forget it. I gasped when I saw it and then laughed until I cried. The word was supposed to be…t-shirt. What did I actually type? T-shit. Yeah. LOL

So, when you’re reading your favorite author and you see a typo, don’t think it’s just laziness that left it behind. No matter how many people have their hands on a story before it goes live, we’re all human. We make mistakes. Some funnier than others, but it happens. I still find them in books by my favorite authors so I don’t feel so bad when I find one in my own books once they’ve hit the virtual bookshelves. It doesn’t make me less nervous about them being there though. It just makes me more nuerotic in finding them before I hit the ’send’ button.
All material &copy2005-2006 to Lily Graison
Lily Graisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14602449774180521419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13495717.post-87528957415544794202009-02-18T14:31:00.003-05:002009-04-04T23:45:54.581-05:00Story Excerpt

March 8, 2009 is the release of Wicked: Leather and Lace [Wicked Series Book 2].
