I can see how the pro-life movement is based on allowing all life at all stages (as they see it) to continue. This is why many of them are also opposed to the death penalty. Though then I am somewhat confused about why the death penalty is so often favored in many states that are also very "religious".

I have no problem with someone choosing to have an abortion because frankly, it is none of my business their reasons for doing so. I see it as a medical procedure that should be a safe choice and not some dark, secret punishment for moral misbehavior.

I am more offended by those who bring unwanted children into the world and neglect or harm them in a variety of disgusting ways. Or even those who bring wanted children in the world, but then realize they might actually change their lives completely and involve a parental commitment, so they lose interest in caring for them.Minerva Oblongatahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07900808966058331849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13470103.post-1121273692552116062005-07-13T12:54:00.000-04:002005-07-13T12:54:00.000-04:00To be fair, if you believe that life begins at con...To be fair, if you believe that life begins at conception, it would be inconsistent to support birth control. All forms of hormonal birth control work in two ways. The inoffensive mechanism works to prevent ovulation, which would prevent fertilization. However, in the event that ovulation does occur, and it sometimes does, the hormones make it impossible for the fertilized egg to attach to the uterine wall. If you believe that a fertilized egg is a human life deserving of the same protections as an infant or any other person, you should oppose not just Plan B, but the birth control pill, patch, etc. on the grounds that they murder innocent fertilized eggs.

I absolutely disagree that life begins at conception, and I support safe, legal abortion on demand. But it absolutely makes perfect sense for many pro-lifers to oppose all forms of hormonal contraception. In fact, they're hypocrites if they don't oppose it.Amy Phillipshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08833915897065629652noreply@blogger.com
