Ninety-six young adults from across Western New York were charged with unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage by a person under 21. Those young adults, who are between ages 16 to 20, were all issued appearance tickets and are expected to answer the charges in Darien Town Court at a later date, said chief deputy G.L. Dibble of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and New York State Police implemented an underage drinking enforcement before and during the 6:30 p.m. Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Police focused their efforts on a large private parking lot at 1516 Sumner Road as well as the parking lot at the performing arts center, 9993 Allegheny Road, Darien.

Other arrested at the concert are facing more serious. Locally, the following people are facing charges:

•Daniel D. Dangelantonio, 26, of Rochester was charged with disorderly conduct. He is accused of shoving and punching several security guards as the guards attempted to remove him from the concert venue. He was issued an appearance ticket and is slated to answer the charge in Darien Town Court at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.
•Jamie E. Otto-Trott, 24, of Rochester was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment. She is accused of striking a security guard and kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the leg at the concert. She was arraigned in Darien Town Court and was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $300 cash bail.
•Anthony F. Pero, 39, of Gates was charged with second-degree harassment. He is accused of fighting with security guards in the venue’s VIP area. He was arraigned in Darien Town Court and was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $200 cash bail.
•Peter H. Scrooby, 33, of Irondequoit was charged with disorderly conduct. He is accused of fighting with a security guard as he was being escorted from the concert venue. He was arraigned in Darien Town Court and was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $200 cash bail.
The effort stemmed from numerous complaints of underage drinking and disorderly behavior at the private lot on Sumner Road, also known as “the hill,” Dibble said. Deputies said they intend to continue to patrol this area during future concerts at the performing arts center.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

source:DemocratandChronicle.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-70608883099999519832009-07-15T17:53:00.001-04:002009-07-15T18:03:23.411-04:00Crossing guard charged with child molestation www.privateofficer.com

COBB COUNTY, Ga. Martin Keely, who represents the Northern District of Alabama. Approximately 300 warrants were cleared in Jefferson and Shelby counties as a result. The operation began June 22 and ended June 28.
More than 100 state and local officers were sworn in as special deputy marshals to launch the operation. The officers were divided into teams, briefed on fugitive cases and assigned arrest warrants for crimes of violence, narcotics and sex offenses.
“By combining the resources, skills, experience and abilities of law enforcement at the federal, state and local levels, a beneficial force-multiplying effect is achieved,” Keely said. “In this effort, the talons of FALCON have hit their mark, and once again turned predators into prey.”
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabaster, Pelham and Hoover police departments were part of the operation. Sheriff Chris Curry said 18 arrests were made in the county during the initiative. In addition, 20 fugitives wanted in the county were located in another jurisdiction or were deceased, and four fugitives surrendered upon hearing about the operation. Four sheriff’s deputies participated in the effort.
“The citizens of this area are safer because of this joint operation,” Curry said. “These officers take the worst of the worst off the street and every bad guy they ran into went to jail.”
Pelham Police Chief Tommy Thomas said his department joined Operation FALCON this year. The initiative began in 2005.
“This operation helps us because none of has the resources to do the job by ourselves,” Thomas said. “With this collaboration, you’re able to bring all resources together to track (suspects) down, and each agency brings its own expertise.”
Keely said suspects arrested during the operation were wanted for murder, assault, sexual offenses, robbery, narcotics, property of theft and probation violations. Many arrests resulted in additional charges for illegal weapons and drug violations. Keely also noted officers verified the locations of 1,000 sex offenders in Jefferson and Shelby counties. If the sex offenders were not residing at their registered address, an arrest warrant was issued.
“The cooperation and enthusiasm of law enforcement fostered during this Operation will continue after FALCON folds its wings,” Keely said. “Through this cooperation we will not rest in our pursuit of violent fugitives.”

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-19373641447395381072009-07-14T13:31:00.001-04:002009-07-14T13:37:13.050-04:00AZ. security officer won't be prosecuted in shooting www.privateofficer.com

Pima County AZ July 14 2009
A security guard who shot a suspected shoplifter outside a Circle K store will not be indicted on any charges directly related to the shooting, an attorney said Monday.
The Pima County Attorney's Office confirmed that it had reached a decision in the case but declined to say on Monday what the decision was, saying it could jeopardize another pending matter.
Joshua Kosatschenko was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the June 3 shooting of 18-year-old Danny Tarango.
At the time, Kosatschenko, 19, was on duty as a contract security guard at a Circle K on South Country Club Road near East Ajo Way. He said he fired his gun to save the life of his fellow security guard.
"I'm very happy that the Pima County Attorney's Office kept an open mind and continued the investigation to come to the correct decision that Joshua was acting in self-defense," said his attorney, Brad Roach.
According to authorities, Tarango and three others went to the Circle K for a food run, grabbing burritos and Cheetos before making their way out to a car in the parking lot. There they got into a confrontation with another security guard — Nicholas Kagas — who reportedly fell to the ground with his feet under the car while trying to detain one of the men.
Kagas was unable to get away because someone in the car was holding his arm, Roach wrote in a court document filed shortly after the shooting.
Kosatschenko gave the driver, identified as Tarango, commands to stop, but he did not, instead accelerating away, Roach said. Kosatschenko fired three times at Tarango, wounding him. Tarango's family says he is paralyzed from the mid-torso down.
"Joshua was faced with a choice — do I risk my fellow officer getting run over by a car or do I shoot the driver? He had to make the decision to shoot," Roach said.
Tarango's mother, Diane Tarango, disagreed, saying the shooting was unnecessary.
"I don't believe it was self-defense; I think he meant to kill Danny," Diane Tarango said. The incident happened about 10 a.m. There were no injuries and the thief fled on foot.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, the Loomis employees were filling the ATM with money. The Loomis driver stayed inside the van while the passenger got out.
He was immediately approached by a dark-skinned man in his early-to-mid-20s who displayed a black handgun and told him to, "Give me the money."
The employee gave the thief a blue bag containing cash. The robber turned and ran toward the nearby railroad tracks.
The thief is described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot 11 wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. He had another shirt that he used to cover his face. The thief may have escaped in a small, black four-door car, possibly a Ford Focus.
The amount of money taken in the heist wasn't released.
"He was pretty well covered," said Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff's Office who traveled to the site not long after the robbery. "We're having a hard time getting much of a description."
A helicopter belonging to the N.C. Highway Patrol circled the area within minutes of the robbery. Deputies told employees of surrounding businesses to stay indoors because they were bringing in a police dog to aid in the search and didn't want the animal confused by additional scents.
The ATM is in front of Grove Motor Co. The business was closed, but officers were trying to locate the owner to see if video cameras on power poles were operating at the time of the robbery.
Deputies were questioning one Loomis employee at the site not long after the robbery. The employee's handgun could be seen, still holstered.
Sifford said the other employee, the van's driver, was also being questioned.
Joe Bell and his father, Larry, operate Joe's Auto Repair in a building behind Grove Motor Co. Joe Bell said he wasn't aware of the robbery until a deputy came to the business and asked if he or his father had seen anything.
"I told him, 'He didn't go that way,' " Bell said, motioning south where a canine sat in a neighboring yard. "That dog didn't go off barking like he does whenever anybody gets close."
Bell said he figured the thief had a getaway car waiting on a nearby side road. "He's probably long gone by now," Bell surmised.
He said the irony of the robbery is that law-enforcement officers often park in front of Grove Motor Co. to stop speeders.
"It takes a lot of guts to do something like that in the middle of the day," Bell said of Friday's robbery.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-33768569750323044992009-07-13T15:55:00.001-04:002009-07-13T16:32:51.276-04:00Security officer saves heart attack victim www.privateofficer.com

Tinker AFB OKL July 13 2009
Some might say Mike Shults went beyond the call of duty June 24. Others might say he was simply doing his job. Ask the officer about the chain of events and he’ll likely say he just reacted.
Mr. Shults was guarding his post at the commercial vehicle inspection gate, just after 11 a.m., when he learned there was an unconscious woman just east of the commercial gate. Mr. Shults responded.
“Mike’s quick action proves that he embodies all the traits we need in a security forces member,” said Lt. Col. Lisette Childers, 72nd Security Forces Squadron commander. “He immediately took charge and handled the situation just as he would be ready to take charge in any security situation. He is a great representative of Team Tinker and we are lucky to have someone of his caliber in our unit.”
The incident began when a driver, from one of the two 18-wheeler commercial trucks waiting to be escorted on base, ran up to Mr. Shults at the gate-guard house. He said his friend’s wife was unresponsive in his truck.
“[My] partner, Jim Snider, called control over the radio and requested fire and [emergency medical services], while [I] ran to help the woman, Mr. Shults said.
The woman allegedly suffered a heart attack and fell out of the passenger seat to the floor. Despite several attempts to wake the 62-year-old woman, nothing worked. There was no pulse nor was she breathing.
“She was turning gray,” Mr. Shults said.
The security officer administered CPR and when Tinker Fire Department’s six-person crew arrived on the scene, Mr. Shults asked for and was given an AED.
“I think fire got there just in time, because early defibrillation is really the key to survival,” he said.
Mr. Shults, a firefighter/emergency medical technician basic with the fire department in Kingfisher, has been trained to use an AED since 2005, but said the June 24 incident was his first time using the device in an emergency.
“I was just trying to concentrate on my chest compressions,” Mr. Shults said, “and hoping we caught her in time. That’s all that was going through my mind.”
Mr. Shults continually tried to recover the woman’s heartbeat. The AED delivered one shock and Mr. Stults continued CPR as the machine reassessed her condition and advised “no shock,” which means she didn’t have a “shockable” rhythm.
Mr. Shults and personnel from the fire department carried the woman out of the truck to awaiting paramedics from Midwest Regional Medical Center. She was loaded onto a stretcher, placed into the ambulance where they were able to get a rhythm before transporting her to the hospital.
The whole scene lasted 26 minutes, said Neal Young, Tinker Fire Department assistant chief of special operations.
At Midwest Regional Medical Center, officials put a defibrillator in her. She went home June 30. As a result of the event, Mr. Shults said he’d like to see each gate and each patrol unit equipped with an AED.
“I know they’re expensive and you might not ever use it,” he said, “but it just takes one time.” Due to his actions, Col. Allen Jamerson, 72nd Air Base Wing commander, presented Mr. Shults with a 72nd ABW Wildcatter coin for outstanding service.
“Even though the gate guards seem confrontational at times because they have to check everyone’s identification cards, they are there and have the skills necessary to provide the first line of defense for this installation and they’re there to help the population,” said Capt. Robert Prausa, 72nd SFS Operations officer.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-11719764003903619052009-07-13T08:19:00.001-04:002009-07-13T08:27:37.192-04:00Security officer aids in capture of armed men www.privateofficer.com

Park Forest, IL July 13 2009 Charges are pending against two men after police responded to a report of shots fired on Lester Street on Thursday, July 2.
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Lester Street on July 2 shortly after 7:00 p.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance. While en route, SouthCom dispatch advised police that a male black subject wearing a red hat with a dark colored shirt was threatening another subject with a handgun and that shots had been fired. A security officer for the property located the offenders fleeing southbound on Lester Street and pursued the vehicle, assisted by Officer Morache. The security officer, Officer Darge, continued to call out his location as he followed the vehicle, heading East on Sauk Trail, passing Western Avenue toward South Chicago Heights.
Officer Darge related that the vehicle was traveling at approximately 90 mph.
Officer Morache caught up to the vehicle on Sauk Trail as it was approaching Chicago Road. As Officer Morache positioned his squad car behind the vehicle, the driver turned right into the Jewel parking lot and stopped.
Police took two men into custody.
According to witnesses at the scene, one of the men apprehended in the vehicle had exchanged words with a group of subjects standing near court H-12. The man had allegedly threatened to shoot the subjects, and produced a chrome-colored revolver which he allegedly pointed at the group of subjects, proceeding to pull the trigger several times causing the hammer to fall, making a clicking sound, according to police. The group of subjects laughed at him and began to walk in his direction. The man then allegedly pointed the revolver in the direction of the group of subjects and allegedly fired three rounds, according to police.
The man entered a car and fled the area at a high rate of speed, southbound on Lester Street, according to police.
Police recovered evidence from the vehicle. The incident has been turned over to the Detective Division for further investigation. He isn't aware of any ties between the Los Angeles man and the hillside college based in Whittier.
He said Rincon was reported missing by his father to the sheriff's East Los Angeles Station on June 17.
The younger Rincon had a doctor's appointment in Los Angeles the day before and was last seen about 1:40 p.m., Aguilera said. He didn't know what the appointment was for.
Aguilera said Rincon was unemployed.
"He did suffer from depression," the detective said.
Rincon's family couldn't be reached for comment on Friday.
On June 16, security guards making their rounds near the five-story library tower at Rio Hondo College heard a thump. A third guard then found Rincon lying on the ground.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
He wore a black trench coat, a T-shirt and sweatpants but carried no identification and no money. Detectives said his car was found in Monterey Park.
A deputy at the East L.A. station heard about the jumper at Rio Hondo and thought it was linked to their missing person, Aguilera said.
She called the department's missing persons section.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-56860591377839982582009-07-13T08:03:00.001-04:002009-07-13T08:13:23.551-04:00Police charge three in murder of Fla couple www.privateofficer.com

PENSACOLA, Florida (CNN) July 13 2009 -- Three suspects are in custody, including two who face murder charges, in what the local sheriff called a "multifaceted" investigation into the killings of a Gulf Coast couple known for adopting special-needs children.
Wayne Coldiron and Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Jr. are facing murder charges in the Thursday night shooting deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings, said Sheriff David Morgan of Escambia County.
Coldiron, 41, surrendered to investigators Sunday and Gonzalez was arrested in neighboring Santa Rosa County on Sunday evening, Morgan said.
Gonzalez's age was not immediately released.
The sheriff was in the middle of announcing Coldiron's arrest to reporters when detectives informed him that Gonzalez was in custody. She faces a charge of sexual assault of a child.
Housley, a math teacher, and her student had started flirting and exchanging text messages early this year when he was still 15, Detective T.L. Howard said. By April, after the boy had turned 16, the relationship evolved into sexual encounters — the first occurring inside Housley’s classroom after school hours, Howard said.
The sexual encounters continued — at the school, in Housley’s car, at her mother’s home, and at Housley’s Saginaw home when her husband and children were away, Howard said. After school let out for the summer, he said, Housley met the teen at his Fort Worth house while he was alone.
"She was going to a teacher conference that was near his house, and she was going over there on her lunch breaks and having sex with him," Howard said.
'I love you’
The investigation began after a Fort Worth patrol officer happened upon Housley and the teen sitting inside a parked car in Sycamore Park shortly before midnight June 30.
The teen initially gave the officer a false date of birth and stated that he was 18 but eventually admitted his real birthday. The officer confirmed that the boy was 16, the officer’s report stated.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of failure to identify/giving false information and released to juvenile authorities.
Housley was issued a citation for allowing a minor to remain in a public place during curfew hours.
She later met with the Fort Worth school district’s Office of Special Investigations to discuss the incident, Howard said.
"She admitted to them sending text messages to [the teen] saying, 'I love " Howard said. The suspect's two children were taken by their 22-year-old sister and the 7-year-old, who was not related to the suspect, was released into the custody of her mother.
Daley is scheduled to be arraigned today at the First District Court in Hempstead.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-47628632707191132622009-07-13T07:43:00.001-04:002009-07-13T07:49:30.478-04:00Police arrest three for fighting with security www.privateofficer.com

Santa Rosa CA July 13 2009
Police arrested three Santa Rosa men and two juveniles for allegedly fighting with security guards outside a bar in the city early Sunday morning.
At about 12:15 a.m., police officers responded to reports of suspects fighting with security guards at the Los Caballos Bar & Grill located at 3125 Cleveland Ave.

Arriving officers were told by witnesses that the suspects headed north, and officers set up a perimeter in the area to search for them, police said.

A suspect was found in a rear alley behind a Blazing Saddles BBQ restaurant on Russell Avenue, and located two more suspects who had snuck into the business. Detectives are investigating whether his tips to federal agents in ferreting out smuggling on the waterfront played a role in his murder.
Sources identified the man as Robert Yee, 61. He appears to have been shot multiple times execution-style.
Yee was taken in critical condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
He had been driving a golf cart through the Hurricane Cove Marina, 1884 NW North River Dr., about 12:45 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing a number of shots.
Police arrived quickly and issued a bulletin for a short, white, balding man with a goatee and a silver late-model Toyota Corolla. They spent much of the afternoon interviewing workers and other potential witnesses at the marina.
Police released little information late Friday.
However, sources told The Miami Herald that Yee might have been killed because he was sharing information with law enforcement about drug or migrant smuggling along the Miami River.
Yee, who retired from the Miami Police Department in 1995, after 25 years on the force, decided on a career in law enforcement after a New York City police officer saved the life of his infant daughter.
Diana Yee had suffered an allergic reaction to penicillin. The New York officer drove the baby to the hospital against one-way traffic -- and then ran the last half block with the baby in his arms.
Yee was inspired to quit his job as a Volkswagen mechanic and moved to Miami in 1969.
Four years later, Yee was shot in the foot during a gunfight at a Little Havana Burger King. He had arrived to find two employees tied up -- and an armed robbery in progress. He thwarted the robbery, shot the suspect and was hailed as a hero the following day. He was 25.
Yee rose through the ranks, and in the late 1990s served as head of the department's horse force.
''He was a very good officer and a good servant of this community,'' said Miami City Commissioner Angel Gonzalez, who knew Yee from his days as a patrol officer. ``He was a very polite person, very friendly.''
Added Sgt. Armando Aguilar, president of the Fraternal Order of Police: ``He was well respected by everyone, a very good man. `We're all very saddened by this.''
The police captain suffered tragedy of his own.
In 2001, daughter Diana was killed by her ex-boyfriend after the two argued about their child.
Luis Aviles killed Diana Yee in a Fort Lauderdale motel room and then put her body in the back of a Chevrolet Impala and drove to Miami-Dade. Firefighters found her charred body inside the car, after extinguishing the fire at Northwest 146th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Aviles pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
Bill Matthewman, a defense attorney and former Miami police officer, represented Yee in a divorce in the 1990s. He called Yee a ''salt-of-the-earth type guy'' who was devastated by his daughter's murder.
''He was greatly affected by that,'' Matthewman said. ``Having known him for a long time, his family and his kids were very important to him. Family came first.''
A second daughter is an officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department in Doral.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-62606720201661524742009-07-11T11:56:00.001-04:002009-07-11T12:01:55.678-04:00Former deputy threatens suicide at Florida airport www.privateofficer.com

ST. July 11 2009-- A North Carolina couple is charged with first-degree murder after a deputy pulled over their van and found a woman's body inside.
Investigators said Lisa Damron, 31, was driving the van on Interstate 77 in Wythe County, Va. Her husband, Jerry, 42, was in the passenger seat. A deputy pulled over the van for speeding and charged Lisa Damron with driving under the influence shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The deputy then searched the van and found the body of a woman. Investigators said she was shot to death.
Authorities identified the woman as Kelly Cully, a former neighbor and friend of the couple.
Investigators said the woman was killed at the couple's home in Taylorsville, N.C. According to a warrant, Lisa Damron said the couple got into an argument while drinking with the woman and she heard several shots fired. She said she helped her husband wrap the woman’s body in a blanket and put it in the van. She said they were on their way to West Virginia to dump the body.
Jerry Damron was charged with driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle in a crash that killed his son last fall.

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-33528577826270379292009-07-11T11:46:00.001-04:002009-07-11T11:50:18.175-04:00Church security charge gay couple for kissing www.privateofficer.com

Salt Lake Utah July 11 2009
saltlaketribune.com
A gay couple says they were detained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints security guards after one man kissed another on the cheek Thursday on Main Street Plaza.
"They targeted us," said Matt Aune, 28. "We weren't doing anything inappropriate or illegal, or anything most people would consider inappropriate for any other couple."
Aune and his partner, Derek Jones, 25, were cited by Salt Lake City police for trespassing on the plaza, located at 50 East North Temple, according to Sgt. Robin Snyder.
In a written statement, church spokeswoman Kim Farah denied the two were singled out for being gay.
"Two individuals came on church property and were politely asked to stop engaging in inappropriate
behavior -- just as any other couple would have been," she said. She declined to comment on what is considered inappropriate behavior, and on the rules governing the plaza.
Though Salt Lake City sold the property to the church in the late 1990s, it remains a popular pedestrian thoroughfare, and a site where couples often pose affectionately for photos.
The Salt Lake Police Department on Friday denied a Salt Lake Tribune request for a full police report on the incident, citing Utah laws giving them five business days to respond to records requests.
Snyder refused to name the reason security guards gave for alerting police, saying it is "irrelevant."
"If a person is asked to leave private property for whatever reason and refuses to do so, that is technically trespassing," she said.
Aune said the incident started when he and Jones were walking back to their Salt Lake City home from a Twilight Concert Series show at the Gallivan Center. The couple live just blocks away from the plaza in the Marmalade district of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
The pair crossed the plaza holding hands, Aune said. About 20 feet from the edge of the plaza, Aune said he stopped, put his arm on Jones' back and kissed him on the cheek.
Several security guards then arrived and asked the pair to leave, saying that public displays of affection are not allowed on the church property, Aune and Jones said. They protested, saying they often see other couples holding hands and kissing there, said Jones.
"We were kind of standing up for ourselves," Jones said. "It was obviously because we were gay."
The guards put Jones on the ground and handcuffed him, he said. Aune said he was also cuffed roughly, and suffered bruises and a swollen wrist. The injuries did not require medical treatment, Snyder said.
Farah said the two men "became argumentative," refused to leave, and used profanity.
Aune said he felt "upset" and "affronted" during the approximately five-minute exchange.
"When I was handcuffed, I was very pissed and I unleashed a flurry of profanities," he said.
Police arrived about 10:30 p.m. They spoke with the couple and two security guards before issuing the citations, Snyder said. The pair was banned from LDS Church Headquarters' campus for six months, Farah confirmed. That does not include the City Creek or any other properties.
The kiss happened on a former public easement given up by city in 2003 in a controversial land-swap deal. The easement became private property, allowing the church to ban protesting, smoking, sunbathing and other "offensive, indecent, obscene, lewd or disorderly speech, dress or conduct," church officials said at the time. In exchange, the city got church property for a west-side community center.
Aune said he was one of those who protested the transfer at the time.
"They claimed in 2003 this would never happen, they were never going to arrest anyone," he said. "It's clear now they do have an agenda."

Follow Us On Twitter/privateofficer

Join Us At MySpace/privateofficernews

Join PRIVATE OFFICER
INTERNATIONAL

www.privateofficer.com

PRIVATE OFFICER BREAKING NEWShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08411035396229071669noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1339517193393048160.post-79189304807948790072009-07-11T11:41:00.001-04:002009-07-11T11:46:07.447-04:00Juvenile detention guard arrested in drug bust www.privateofficer.com

CENTRALIA, Wash.July 11 2009 - A security guard at a juvenile detention center was arrested during a SWAT team raid on a home where marijuana was being readied for sale, police said.

Roy D.
