One play which I forgot to publish last week was the brief 1-day fling for Genomic Health (<span style="font-weight:bold;">GHDX</span>). The <span style="font-weight:bold;">500</span> share lot closed for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">-$495</span> (<span style="font-weight:bold;">-4.8%</span>) loss which was a frustrating loss as I looked to increase equity exposure. The three hits for today produced mixed results:<br /><br />Allion Healthcare (<span style="font-weight:bold;">ALLI</span>) did not release any news but the stock jumped 5% on heavier volume in the absence of news. Unfortunately, the stop was hit on the initial break of support. The 1,400 share play closed for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">+$252</span> (<span style="font-weight:bold;">+2.8%</span>) profit - but today's exit was a fakeout.<br /><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/ALLIOct15.png"/><br /><br />The second stock, ClickSoftware Technologies (<span style="font-weight:bold;">CKSW</span>) is set to release earnings on October 31st. But a second day of gains saw the stock tag resistance (and therefore hit its target), for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">+27%</span> gain, or a <span style="font-weight:bold;">+$2,780</span> gain on a <span style="font-weight:bold;">2,000</span> share lot. <br /><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/CKSWOct15.png"/><br /><br />Finally, there was a loss for Amicus Therapeutics (<span style="font-weight:bold;">FOLD</span>). Although there was no news released on the day, the stock fell back to undercut what looked to be reasonable support. The stock was a morning buy but an afternoon sell. The <span style="font-weight:bold;">500</span> share position closed for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">-$305</span> (<span style="font-weight:bold;">-3.4%</span>) loss. <br /><br />Five positions remain in the portfolio. <br /><div align="center"><a href="https://www.collective2.com/cgi-perl/systems.mpl?want=subscribe&systemid=16054184&session=535714197398885444183947438923628"><img src="http://www.collective2.com/images/charts/equitychart16054184.png" width="400"/></a></div><br /><a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Collective2" rel="tag">Collective2</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1334979488515382258-5497687077903131817?l=collective2.fallondpicks.com%2Findex.html'/></div>Declan Fallonnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334979488515382258.post-31952476127426119222007-10-01T12:37:00.001-07:002007-10-01T12:37:30.918-07:00Fallond Portfolio: UXG outThe market breakout has turned negative on gold stocks. The stock was entered on the premise of a bounce off the 50-day MA to go test (and break) $7.00 resistance. U.S. Gold (<span style="font-weight:bold;">UXG</span>) cut below $6.25 support and its 50-day MA, to run into its stop and close the 1,300 share position for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">-$403</span> loss (<span style="font-weight:bold;">-4.92%</span>). <br /><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/UXGOct1.png"/><br /><br /><a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Collective2" rel="tag">Collective2</a> <br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1800568-10468651" target="_top"><br /><img src="http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-1800568-10468651" width="468" height="60" alt="" border="0"/></a></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1334979488515382258-3195247612742611922?l=collective2.fallondpicks.com%2Findex.html'/></div>Declan Fallonnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334979488515382258.post-15975189492614705262007-09-24T09:53:00.000-07:002007-09-24T09:54:04.338-07:00Fallond Portfolio: AUXL outAuxilium Pharmaceuticals (AUXL) undercut $21 support intraday, hitting its stop in the process. The hammer should have perhaps been ignored given it didn't occur at an oversold stochastic - I went with price action over the technical read and was caught out. Back to the watch list it goes. The <span style="font-weight:bold;">1,500</span> share lot closed for a <span style="font-weight:bold;">-$600</span> (<span style="font-weight:bold;">-5.82%</span>) loss. Equity exposure is again back to 10% with cash at 90%. Both of the stocks exited may be worth a second look over the coming weeks, but both are no longer part of the portfolio - leaving it 15% equity and 85% cash, down from 33% equity. <br /><br />American Superconductor Corp (<span style="font-weight:bold;">AMSC</span>) finished with a low volume bullish doji - but intraday lows were enough to exit the <span style="font-weight:bold;">500</span> share position for a painful <span style="font-weight:bold;">-$975</span> (<span style="font-weight:bold;">-9.22%</span>) loss:<br /><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/AMSCAug24.png"/><br /><br />Universal Insurance Holdings (<span style="font-weight:bold;">UVE</span>) reversed the mini-breakout, bringing the stock back to triangle support. I will be looking to ramp up equity exposure over the coming days. But below are the positions which were exited over the last couple of weeks:<br /><br />Ascent Solar Technologies (<strong>ASTI</strong>): My initial impressions for a fresh base have morphed into something larger. The stock is trading in quiet action around the $7 mark and should see some support at the newly formed 200-day MA. The initial position I attempted was stopped out after the first break of $36 failed. The 200-day MA / May gap lows beckons. For the purposes of my Collective2 portfolio the <strong>700</strong> share position was closed out for a <strong>+$1,533</strong> profit (<strong>+15.9%</strong>) - alleviating some of the damage done by the NetList (<strong>NLST</strong>) trade. I have used this as an opportunity to raise stops for the 3 existing positions in the Collective2 portfolio. <br /><br />Inner Workings (<strong>INWK</strong>) has set up a good swing trade opportunity given the narrow range the stock has traded over the past couple of days. The stochastic 'sell' trigger is weakened somewhat by the strengthening bull trend (ADX is on the rise). This could result in a head fake down before the upward trend resumes, but I am not taking this risk and have tightened the stop according to recent day's support. <br /> <br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/INWKJune20.png"/><br /><br />LJ International (<strong>JADE</strong>) I have seen mentioned in a couple of blogs of late - including a <a href="http://videoplayer.thestreet.com/?clipId=1373_10362521&channel=Good+Life&cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=&cm_ite=&puc=yahoo&ts=1182371489546">Wallstrip</a> piece. The stock was one of the few winners on the day as it worked itself off support. I have maintained the original stop but looking for a more substantial drive past resistance. <br /> <br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/JADEJune20.png"/><br /><br />OMNI Energy Services (<strong>OMNI</strong>) has retreated back to a support level of a potentially bearish rising wedge, but the stock has a nicely positioned weekly picture (accumulation has been on the rip). If OMNI is at support there should be a bounce tomorrow. <br /><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/OMNIJune20.png"/><br /><img src="http://blog.fallondpicks.com/images/OMNIweek.png"/><br /><br />For disclosure purposes I bought <strong>JADE</strong> at $11.51 the day after I featured it in the portfolio and had owned <strong>OMNI</strong> until an overzealous stop left over a $1 a share on the table (based on my Collective2 stop). My funds didn't stretch to owning <strong>INWK</strong>. <br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://www.collective2.com/cgi-perl/systems.mpl?want=subscribe&systemid=16054184&session=535714197398885444183947438923628"><img src="http://www.collective2.com/images/charts/equitychart16054184.png" width="400"/></a></div><br /><a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Collective2" rel="tag">Collective2</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1334979488515382258-3960596932692603156?l=collective2.fallondpicks.com%2Findex.html'/></div>Declan Fallonnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334979488515382258.post-30262700666905988972007-06-12T17:56:00.000-07:002007-06-12T17:58:05.586-07:00Fallond Portfolio: NLST outThe last six plays have all closed for losses, turning May and June into disappointing months. However, the most recent loss from Netlist (<strong>NLST</strong>) was unfortunately the greatest. It is unclear as to whether the low of the day was $2.81 or $3.00 - but the point is mute given Collective2 has registered it as a stop sale. The <strong>2,000</strong> share position closed for an unwelcome <strong>-$1,039</strong> (<strong>-15%</strong>) loss. This is the third play of 117 to register a loss greater than $1,000.
