I guess CBS is not interested in the baby boomers or the demographic since we are getting old. Now I stay on the AM dial with KNBR, KCBS and KFRC.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-69370119907414181252009-01-06T00:48:00.000-08:002009-01-06T00:48:00.000-08:00Starting on January 1st, CBS rang in the new year ...Starting on January 1st, CBS rang in the new year adding "The True Oldies Channel" to the "new" KFRC-AM 1550 (previosuly KYCY/KYOU-AM). This is a national syndicated program 24x7 run by Scott Shannon. They feature oldies from mostly the 60's and 70's. KFRC.com still has the classic hits format on 106.9 HD-2 and KFRC.com. It doesn't make sense that CBS puts the news on FM and KFRC oldies on AM! They should add some local programming and bring back at least the morning show and put it back on FM. Other stations on the "True Oldies Channel" network have some local programming.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-3946745368738265592008-11-20T09:12:00.000-08:002008-11-20T09:12:00.000-08:00I have listened to KFRC since I was a teenager. It's too bad we just have have what the listeners want to hear ... isn't that what radio is all about. If we wanted news we would listen to AM news stations. Bring back the DJs and the music!!!!! For those of you who love the radio, try KEARTH from SO CAL, they are on line, have DJs and play great oldies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-51929312243019543252008-11-18T20:28:00.000-08:002008-11-18T20:28:00.000-08:00Just in case Sundance2000's link to the petition d...Just in case Sundance2000's link to the petition doesn't work for you, you may try clicking here.DavidFerrellJacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12783534105008693048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-87769468086641492422008-11-18T18:26:00.000-08:002008-11-18T18:26:00.000-08:00I have petition drive at http://www.ipetitions.com...I have petition drive at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/kfrc1069/ to help push to bring KFRC and the Classic Hits back to the San Francisco Bay Area radio airwaves.sundance2000http://www.blogger.com/profile/06404409807090069962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-68220233947064623862008-11-02T12:10:00.000-08:002008-11-02T12:10:00.000-08:00Once again CBS corporate lays off wonderful radio ...Once again CBS corporate lays off wonderful radio personalities and dumps the classic hits format. When KFRC was replaced by Movin' 99.7, I started to listened to K-Earth 101 out of Los Angeles on my computer. I already listen to KCBS 740 for news and KNBR for Giants baseball. KFRC 106.9 rounded out my radio at home, at work and on the road. I do not believe that the demographic that listens to KFRC means anything to CBS corporate. I also think that the Duke, Celeste, Sue and the rest of the gang should have been treated better. Of course, these are same suits that stuck it to Dean and Cammy, Sue, et. al.Frankhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05152449115858971191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-54795895368448879292008-10-29T21:43:00.000-07:002008-10-29T21:43:00.000-07:00I stand corrected. My recording has Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" going last at about 7:36, followed by a few seconds of Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle," then an audio montage of famous news clips, then Stan Bunger and KCBS, as noted in my post at that time.DavidFerrellJacksonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12783534105008693048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-63482471350471900522008-10-28T22:05:00.000-07:002008-10-28T22:05:00.000-07:00KGO will always be my #1 station for news & talk. ...KGO will always be my #1 station for news & talk. I don't know if that was planned that way or not, since the song has political meaning.

The FM band is for MUSIC, not news. I have listened to KFRC since my early childhood, 1967 to be precise. When KFRC came back I was overjoyed in 2004-5, that's when I discovered is was on the air again. Then is disappeared, AGAIN in 2006. To have it back recently with a fabulous cast of DJ's, including "The Duke" Dave Sholin was a welcome respite from the rest of AM's newstalk and FM's c-rap/hip-hop, hard rock, and Spanish stations. Finally a good oldies rock station!! Now, GONE AGAIN?!?!
What is CBS thinking?! You have made a terrible mistake,CBS. I may tune you out on the AM now and switch to KGO from now on.Sandihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17038303452610742800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-15353111994502536842008-10-27T03:50:00.000-07:002008-10-27T03:50:00.000-07:00CBS is planning to keep KFRC "alive" by putting a ...CBS is planning to keep KFRC "alive" by putting a dot com after their name and will have the classic hits music online along with 106.9 HD-2 (HD radio). There will be no announcers or "jocks", just the music.

KFRC classic hits was more than just the music. The personalities and the special weekend shows are what really made the KFRC interesting. Now they are just another stream on the web.

Yes,the bay area is flooded with ipod's, XM/Sirius, HD radio, and of course the internet leaving so many choices now. That could be a factor. I have a Sirius radio in my car. Even the Sirius channels now have announcers, including Ron Parker a former KFRC personality (he left KFRC in 2000 for another opportunity).

If I want news, I want pictures not just the audio. Most people are going to go to TV, newspapers, or the internet for news. There is no practicality on putting news on FM Radio.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-21347646582777544542008-10-23T08:40:00.000-07:002008-10-23T08:40:00.000-07:00I find it hard to believe that there appears to be...I find it hard to believe that there appears to be no market for a rock oldies station in the Bay Area, even one that has no DJs or broadcasts (shudder) via satellite. How many other large cities are like that?

Is the music of the 60's and 70's slowly going the way of Big Band? I live in Corpus Christi, TX and there are two rock oldies stations in a market one would suspect would be dominated by country and spanish.

Or is it that the Bay Area is so sophisticated that ipods, XM, and internet radio provide enough choices; not to mention what one would find on a station like KFOG.

I mean, does CBS really think that simulcasting news will be more profitable than KFRC was at 106.9? To me, this looks like a temporary move and I'm wondering if the station is about to be put up for sale.Georobhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16213186069766951534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-11702278151810938502008-10-22T17:03:00.000-07:002008-10-22T17:03:00.000-07:00Thank you dear George from Martinez!-CelesteThank you dear George from Martinez!

-CelesteAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13177693.post-1014338003992302662008-10-22T10:54:00.000-07:002008-10-22T10:54:00.000-07:00I wish I can express the few choice words I have a...I wish I can express the few choice words I have about the execs at CBS radio.
