-A samurai sword and a double-edged sword as well as a pair of pants used for sword fighting were stolen from a home on North Willson Avenue.

-A young “kind of jittery” cow was in the middle of Frontage Road around 9 a.m.

-A man called police around 7:30 p.m. to find out what happened earlier in the day. He had been arrested for driving under the influence but “claimed he didn’t remember.”

-A woman asked police to get her driver’s license number for her because she was at a video rental store and couldn’t remember it. “She was told that wasn’t what the police do.”

- A deputy investigating a report of “mysterious” and “huge” animal prints in snow discovered they were “actually the four feet of a bounding deer. After the bounding was completed, the deer began to walk and the huge tracks became normal size again.”

Sorry folks. The Bozeman Police reports have been a bit of dry place for comic crime events lately.
If you have a chance...try to get to Bozeman and try to make the reports this month. The blog is counting on you. I'm not encouraging crime, but we all know it really does not take a crime to make the reports. Be creative.

In the mean time...come on Bozeman. I know it's cold out....but your folly is sanity to many of us who rely on the perspective you give.

- A woman called to turn herself in after admitting she stole her mother’s checkbook.

- An intoxicated female defecated in the snow beside a sidewalk and, when approached by an officer, attempted to walk away. The woman, however, forgot to pull up her pants and fell into the snow exposing her buttocks to passersby.

- Some disorderly guests were warned at a hotel after another guest reported that a man tried to enter a room and that “something fishy was going on.”

- Hunters had questions about who gets to tag an elk after two hunters shot and followed it when it didn’t die and a third hunter shot it dead.

- A grizzly bear had two hunters up a tree after one of them shot an elk. The bear eventually left the hunters to eat the dead elk.

-A woman raised store employees’ suspicions when she tried to pay for things with a credit card number written on her hand. It turned out she had permission to use it.

- A person, who appeared to be doing CPR on the side of Interstate 90 around 6:30 p.m., was cutting up a dead bear.

- A man burying a dead horse hit a natural gas line.

- While a deputy was buying lunch at Albertsons, he witnessed an uncooperative shoplifter. Upon seeing the deputy, the offender ran and was subsequently tackled to the ground and placed under arrest. The deputy returned to recover his lunch.

-A black bear was seen ambling down Bridger Drive around noon.

-Someone at the National Guard Readiness Center in Belgrade “fat fingered” a keypad, mistakenly setting off a duress alarm there.

-Four dogs running loose hampered a worker’s efforts to get fresh concrete poured on Sitting Bull Road around 2:30 p.m.

-An intoxicated man was driving home and called 911 and then hung up. He said he got his tooth knocked out. Police determined that he had had “a wrestling match with his friend.”

-A caller had questions about shooting pigeons that had infiltrated a heating system.

- A deputy nearly collided with a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 90. Reportedly, the driver is from England and has been in the U.S. on vacation. The couple was planning on “learning to ranch.” The driver had missed an exit and panicked. Doing what came naturally, the driver reverted to driving on the left side of the road. The couple was escorted to their hotel.

-The friend of a driver who drove off without paying for gas took care of the bill.

-A caller reporting hearing shotguns going off near Cameron Bridge Road and was advised that it was bird-hunting season.

-Deputies responded to a residence near Three Forks for the second time in a few weeks for a report of gunshots in the area around 2:30 a.m. The man initially denied any wrongdoing but later admitted to “having come home and wanting to impress his possible future girlfriend with his marksmanship skills at night.” The officers warned the man about his behavior and told him he’d be cited if it happened again.

-A man who had had an argument with his wife earlier in the evening was found sleeping in his car in the driveway of his home around 2:30 a.m.

- A man in a white truck reportedly drove up to a house on Dooley Lane and asked the resident if he’d like “any of his fresh vegetables.” The resident said the man got back in his truck and drove away, but that “it was very strange.”

- A 20-pound pig was reportedly running loose on Thorpe Road. The caller was concerned the pig might cause a traffic hazard.

-A man accused another man of having his coat, which had been stolen a year ago from a house in Louisiana. An officer explained to the accuser that the manufacturer had made more than one of that particular coat.

- A filmmaker requested a deputy in a cruiser for a shot in a movie around 3 p.m

- An unknown number of people were performing karaoke around 11 p.m. on Sage Drive.

- A camper at Spire Rock Campground reported that four cows had been “terrorizing” the campground since Friday.

-Firefighters arrived at a home to find lots of smoke but no substantial fire after the homeowners put a chicken in the oven, left the residence and the chicken burned.

-A caller said there were some people staying at a campground who were “spooky.”

-A report of toddlers playing perilously close to an irrigation ditch turned out to be boys ranging in age from 5 to 10. They were not in danger.
