I whirled through your first two books. You never fail to amaze me with your writing. I'm currently in the middle of THREAD OF FEAR and I LOVE IT. I'm so excited to finish it. I'm actually doing a report for school on ONE WRONG STEP. Any comments on how you got that book started?

You're a fast reader! I'm glad you liked ONE LAST BREATH. For research, I go back to my journalism roots. I often just pick up the phone and talk to an expert in something, or maybe ask questions by e-mail. I love face-to-face interviews with people because you get so much more vivid detail that comes in handy when writing a story. I interviewed a number of forensic artists for THREAD OF FEAR, and I learned so much. Hope you'll like the book!

Thanks for posting! Some of my characters and events are inspired by real people or things I read in the news. In the case of THREAD OF FEAR, the heroine was inspired by a forensic artist in Texas. I interviewed her during the research phase, and it's a fascinating career. It was fun for me to write about. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy the next one!

Hi Laura,

"One Wrong Step" was my first thriller romance. Until that, I couldn't understand why anyone would combine thriller with romance. Now I know. I intend to take "Thread of Fear" with me to Mexico where I can stay up half the night and read if I desire.

Loved your first two books Laura, "One Last Breath" and "One Wrong Step". Even got a couple friends hooked on them too. Your writing is so clean but the story and characters are so vivid and engaging- it's a hard combo to resist!
I hope you're going to continue that first series as well since it seemed like there was at least one more likely couple emerging from "One Wrong Step" . . .

Thanks, Jane! I'm so glad you liked the first two books. Balancing the suspense and the love story is the fun part, I think. Laura, "Thread of Fear" sounds incredibly suspenseful, and I love me a good romantic suspense novel. I think it makes the situation more intense and you can get more caught up in the story.
