There's a Mitten KAL going on and I've been working on these little blue mittens. I'm knitting them slowly because I've been told I am supposed to "Knit-Along" and not knit them up beforehand :) We've got 2 easy patterns - one flat like the blue ones Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-78670838184623562722008-07-15T09:44:00.001-07:002008-07-15T09:56:18.685-07:00How About More Mittenz?Another set of Mittenz for the Rez And here is another pair being knit 2 at a time on 2 circs. They are really easy, just k3, p3 rib. Remember the Babette Blanket? I put that away when I had company and now it is too hot to think about joining those panels. So it's taking a summer break. But I've got a new crochet blanket I really want to try. It's called the Hexagon Blanket and I read Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-52167633631160143052008-07-09T18:52:00.000-07:002008-07-09T19:16:18.358-07:00Knitting Has ResumedThe Surfer Boy has gone back to Colorado and now it is boring around here.... So much fun to be with the young ones and going, going, going everywhere! We went to all the old places I used to take my kids years ago. This picture from my cell phone at Huntington City Beach, Calif. Now for what is on my needles and hooks to keep me from being so bored :) Neopolitan Baby Blanket From Knit One, Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-19902750962988757592008-06-28T18:41:00.000-07:002008-06-28T18:49:47.874-07:00I Love To Read!I love to read and I just found out about Goodreads.com over at Lizzie's Blog. That's my grandson above - he and mom came from Colorado to visit the family here in Southern Calif. Knitting and crocheting will be on hold for now as we plan to have lots of fun! Here is my 7th set of 8! There's been some sewing of mittens too! I made the above from different patterns and some scrap fleece material. Hat #11 - Knit on the Innovations Knitting Machine. This is a tube doubled up which makes a very warm hat. I used Woolease yarn. Hat # 12 - 2 strands of knitting worsted and a 3" garter stitch brim. Now for Mittenz! Pairs 52 & 53 - Mini Thumbless Mitts. Pair #54 - got the idea Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-41479623665505512232008-06-13T10:43:00.000-07:002008-06-13T11:06:11.844-07:00123 And One More Trio of Hatz 3 earflap hats using Tammy Wright's In A Flap Cap pattern. Of course I modified it! I changed the stitch counts to be able to knit with 2 strands of worsted wt yarn at 3st/1". And I even short rowed the neck/flap part as you can see on the left most cap. Now for the Hat Parade: Hat #6 Woolease yarn with a doubled brim and knit on the Innovations Knitting machine with hand Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-44340780450054316342008-06-09T09:31:00.000-07:002008-06-10T08:53:49.747-07:00Two More Hatz and More Hat #4 I finally finished weaving in all the ends and really love this hat. It was fun and easy to knit. It's the Checkerboard Mesa Hat by Nanette Blanchard . Hat #5 This is my adaption of EZ's Maltese Fisherman's Hat found in Knitter's Almanac. I fiddled with the stitch count to use worsted wt yarn on #7 needles for a gauge of 4 sts per inch. Today I'll be working on Hatz for 2008. This challenge is not official yet, but I have to get a jump on Lizzie - she already has 5 Hatz! Here is her cute button I'm stealing for my sidebar. Go check out her blog and you'll see the lovely hatz she has already made. 2 hats were sitting in the NAS bin. I made them in April and had not gotten around to mailing them so I'm counting them!Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-77534143798229840942008-06-02T18:48:00.001-07:002008-06-02T19:06:55.535-07:00Hello - I Am An Over AchieverWarning - If you are reading my blog anywhere besides here (http://knittingnonni.blogspot.com) - it's been stolen and reposted. How rude is that? For what purpose - I don't know.... It's not like I have anything important to say. The offending site - the thief of my posts is Knittingclub.org. So if you are on this site - go elsewhere - they're nothing but thieves! I've been very busy all week, crocheting the Babette Blanket for my grandson. Finished section 7 and getting ready to start section 8. It's so much fun to work with lots of colors and different shapes. I'm not getting bored in the least bit! Mittenz Update I'm up to pair #28 and still working on those "test" patterns. The other Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-46695535084008931702008-05-05T18:07:00.001-07:002008-05-05T18:18:58.315-07:00Too Many IdeasAnd not enough time to knit them up! I mentioned that the Kidlett mittens were in the testing phase. Have not heard from my test knitters yet so I'm waiting for corrections or comments before I post the pattern. Meanwhile back in the lab..... I decided to convert the Wristerz pattern into mittens. Here is what I came up with - Ocoze Mittens (Ocoze means warm in Lakota) Below you can seeMariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-33236286340264458382008-05-03T14:50:00.000-07:002008-05-03T15:11:57.194-07:00And The Race Is On!No, not the Kentucky Derby - the Mittenz 2008 Challenge! Here is my 3rd set of 8 pairs Plus one more not in this set makes my total 25 pairs so far. We have a database in our group site and 15 members have posted their counts. The total to date is 161 pairs! Jean is in the lead! She has made 30 pairs. Pink Thumbless Mittens I knit up a pair of cute little pink mitts and decided to try Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-90663445503661230122008-05-01T08:52:00.000-07:002008-05-01T09:26:15.850-07:00Ran Out Of Yarn In Colorado A creek behind the Blue Cow Eatery in Morrison Colorado Yes I did run out of yarn in Colorado! I thought I had taken enough yarn to knit some simple hats and I was sure my daughter had some extra yarn I could use. I was wrong! I knit too fast and dear daughter only had yarn that was assigned to projects. We did go to Hobby Lobby, and we chose yarn to start my grandson's Babette Blanket, but IMariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-83257446171549213392008-04-19T15:41:00.000-07:002008-04-19T16:18:36.260-07:00Lazy SaturdayIt's a lazy day over. Watching Sci-Fi channel and a Tivo'd Dr Who episode. But I did manage to finally upload some pics to Flickr and update my Ravelry projects, and post here too! Mittenz These are from Arlene Williams "Lopi Mitten Pattern". I followed her needle size, but I should have gone down a size or two. The fabric is not as dense as I would have liked it to be. Otherwise it was a Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-30453141090206600252008-04-15T15:58:00.000-07:002008-04-15T16:07:05.307-07:00Pieces of Eight My 2nd set of 8 pairs. Wristers knit of really fast - especially when you knit garter stitch rectangles ; ) My other Wips are holding there own - I work on them a little each day. I'll have to go round up my 1st set of 8 and take their pics next.Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-53955854531460107192008-04-06T13:09:00.001-07:002008-04-06T13:32:03.143-07:00Moving Right AlongYes I am moving right along on the Mittenz. I've used my Sideways Mitten pattern to come up with these easy Wristerz. I decided to knit a rectangle And thanks Lizzie, for encouraging me to do that. I then added on the thumb part at the end instead of in the middle - seemed easier that way. You can lengthen by adding more stitches and widen by knitting more rows. I'll be posting the Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-35529794904485029072008-04-04T15:25:00.001-07:002008-04-04T15:43:04.423-07:00Spring ColorsI must be in the mood for spring colors. Bright cheery yellow and white for this hat. The Butterfly Hat It's a free pattern on the website, but if you are on Ravelry, you can download the free PDF file. I used odds and ends of worsted wt yarn and only cast on 80 sts with size 6 and 8 needles. And don't you just love the way the top decreases work out? I'd like to make another one in someMariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12721255.post-50056042261649212742008-04-03T16:54:00.000-07:002008-04-03T17:03:23.255-07:00More Mittenz! Here you go! My 7th and 8th pair of mittens. On the left we have the Original Sideways Mittens and on the left the new version with a longer cuff. I'll be adding the changes to my pattern in a few days. Just a matter of replacing the numbers. So what's next? I'm not stopping this Mitten Maddnez! Since Muffatees or Wristers count too, I'm going to make 8 pair of them next. 2 Mariellahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03358589643773059178noreply@blogger.com
