It was mutually understood that the long distance which separated us (she was on the East Coast, I live on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mork_&_Mindy">Planet Boulder</a>) would be our inevitable downfall, but ironically it's what kept us together (in that we could dismiss certain relational hiccups as "tricks of distance").
