David, I am sorry about the troublemakers. I have a bunch of my own. I have 2 sisters, 2 brothers and 44 cousins many of whom are in denial of their own disorders.Only 3 of us of my generation and one neice and one grandnephew admit to our conditions and that we take medication. I have been told that I am faking for attention and a disgrace to the family. All this and I have never had a really bad episode that they knew of. I am 60 yrs old now and have known I had a problem since I was 3. My parents were in denial so I had no treatment until I left home at 17. There was really no treatment back then anyway. My grandnephew has been in treatment since he was 2 and is now a teen. In relation to being diagnosed as a child I came across a Newsweek article through a link on another site. I will add it here so you can check it out to see if it is appropriate for your readers. I have a friend and an Aunt for my support system but I am also a supporter of a bipolar housemate and two of my 4 children who have depression and borderline personality disorder. I have been very lucky, made it through school and college not without difficulty. And worked until I was 50 at a university. I would have worked longer except for the side effects of some meds. So it is possible to live a fairly normal life if you stay on your meds and I listen to relaxation tapes which do help.

for someone to come up to a person who has Bi-polar and insult them is a deep wound, and it angers us. Do not judge us, do not think we are a bunch of wakos. If you are going to blab off about Bi-polar.....make sure you know something about it first! what is is, what is about, educate then open your mouth! we live with this every day of our lives, and we as survivors know lots about it, and learn about it more and more each day, for people to laugh, make fun of, or just put us down, threaten us, please stop, you are just being ignorant....educate your self in what it is first, then speak, we are not bad people, we are human to!!!

I just received your e-mail about the blogs that you have been getting, and I am really sorry to hear that people have been doing that to you.
I hope that you do not shut down the site or the blogs, I just love the site and the blogs, I think they are the greatest thing out here.
I have learned so much about Bi-polar from this site, and from your blogs and the blogs from others. I am a Bi-polar survivor myself. for years I have felt so alone, I knew other people had it to, but did not know how to find them, I tripped up on your site one day and was blown away. Your blogs and site have helped my life, and my life with my awesome, understanding boyfriend so much. I learn a lot fom you David, I think that you are such a great person, too bad I could not meet you in person, that would be an awesome day! I think that you are such a great person because you care so much about us BP people, you reach out and help us in any way you can, you are very informative, you are a great person for what you do and sharw, I just love ya...not in that way of course, you know what I mean!
don't let the ignorance of others take away what you work so hard on to share with us, don't let their harsh words shut you down, and the blogs! I know it is hard, but shut them out, block them out, they are not informed like you are, so don't let them ruin a good thing...your the best David Oliver...simply the best, and it sounds like you have an awesome team behind you as well, let the words bounce off of you, and focus on the people who adore you!! your doing such an awesome thing here!!!!
