Although it's a kid show, man, I learnt the most important lesson in my whole career from this!

In the corporate world, people only care about winning, about being number one. Cars tells the story of a racing car called Lightning McQueen wanting to win a prestigious racing competition. But in a strange twist of event, he got lost in a "dead" town and was forced to serve in a community service but he learnt life's most basic lessons: love and friendship. In the wilderness, he was doing what he hated but found that the found new friends from the town who really cared for him.

Everyday, he yearns to leave the town to go back to the racing track. He finally managed to race and he was at the very verge of winning, when he stopped right before the finishing line to reverse his car to help another car which was spun off track. Having the golden chance of being number one, he gave it up, to be number three to win a friend. What a lesson!

Sometimes, being in the corporate we think we are so smart to go up the ladder while pushing other people down. We lose friends, gain enemies, put up falsehood and fake facts to paint a rosy picture to others. Is it worth it? Well, our bank accounts may grow exponentially but not our character. So next time you want to claim credit for someone else's work or put a colleague down, think about the lessons from Cars.WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-1856073353250899302008-01-12T17:44:00.000-08:002008-01-12T17:45:49.178-08:00Singing Science RecordsSongs about science for little kids. Ya, not that they need to finish up their work (like me now) but that they are so worried that they cannot sleep. Career insecurity, financial crisis, diseases, etc., these are stuffs that keep a lot of people awake at night. Believe it or not there are people who stay up to scheme up for their next "political strategy"...

How nice if we can sleep in peace, knowing that we don't need to worry about the next day, or about what people are going to do to harm us. Well, that's what God promises us if we put our trust in Him. Look at these verses, God repeated it twice in two consecutive psalms. When God says it two times, that's serious stuff!

Psalms 2: 5 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.

Psalms 3: 8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Try it... works for me.WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-48577521904126771802007-11-10T01:21:00.001-08:002007-11-10T01:22:55.824-08:00Happy *Belated* Deepavali from Collin
WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-26556110404034499502007-11-10T01:17:00.000-08:002007-11-10T01:20:47.700-08:00Can you watch Cinderella 7 times?<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_8cHw-Yj0U58/RzV3vH-eKCI/AAAAAAAAABs/rGLsVhPg0RE/s320/IMG_0003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131139001937176610" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_8cHw-Yj0U58/RzV3vn-eKDI/AAAAAAAAAB0/_7zJdbVx4hQ/s320/IMG_0004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131139010527111218" />WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-18689394995039614062007-11-08T14:07:00.001-08:002007-11-08T14:12:19.418-08:00Mun San was hereOur good friend Mun San was in Penang for business trip on 29th Oct 2007. He watched as a fishing boat docked and a Mexican fisherman unloaded his gear and his day's catch. He complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish, and asked how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long," answered the Mexican.
"But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the American.
The Mexican explained that his catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.
The American asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
"I sleep late, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to spend time with my friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar and sing a few songs. I have a full life."
The American interrupted him. "I have an MBA from Harvard; I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
The Mexican listened patiently. "And after that?" he asked.
"With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one, and a third one, and so on until you have an entire fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your fish to a middleman, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants, and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York! From there you can direct your new enterprise."
The Mexican considered this business plan. "How long would that take?" he asked.
"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the American.
"And after that?"
"After that? Well, my friend, that's when it gets really interesting," answered the American. "When your business gets really big, you can start selling stock in your business and make millions!"
"Millions? Really? And after that?" said the Mexican.
"After that, you'll be able to retire! You can move in a tiny village near the coast. You can sleep late, play with your grandchildren, take siestas with your wife, and spend your evenings drinking, playing your guitar, singing and enjoying time with your friends."
The Mexican replied, "I thought that's what I am doing now..."WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-87952433425058837682007-06-16T17:21:00.000-07:002007-06-16T17:34:21.762-07:00It's time to go on a gut-friendly diet! It's pretty amazing goes on in our gut. Well, there are parasites like bacteria, yeast. Recently had to be on MC and work from home because of back pain and tummy ache. Seen two doctors, first one said food poisoning. Second one said gut infection. Huh? Gut infection caused by back pain? And the infection caused fever? Does it make sense?

Well, the thing is that the medicine I had been taking eg. antibiotics and high sugar content food had been making my gut really sick. Some medicine kill off our good bacteria, allowing for existing fungal parasites eg. yeast to grow out of hand. They cause the lining of the intestine to be have tiny holes and that's how the bacteria and some semi-processed food into my blood and attach some of the body system. Some of the bacteria/yeast get into the joints in the back bone. That's explains my back ache.

And also strangely, the doctor did not prescribe antibiotics to me but probiotics (good bacteria) instead. First time I am taking it, mm... taste nice too... a little orange tangy. Now I am back to usual, but am going on a refined sugar free diet with high fiber and vegetable. No red meat at the moment! No bread, no cakes, no sweets, no chocolate, no biscuits, no .........WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-2884346532425604292007-05-02T06:02:00.000-07:002007-05-02T06:04:01.571-07:00Don't be lateTo you,
Please don't be late for appointments. Take one bunch of mui choy (sweet one), soak in water. Then wash throughly, to remove sand and other stuffs... Cut into small pieces
2. Cut strip of mui yok (pork) into pieces
3. Without oil, just fry the mui choy until the leaves are dry (the drier the better, as wet mui choy will not last as long). Remove.
4. Bruise 6 pieces of garlic (don't chop), and stir fry in hot wok
5. Put in mui choy and continue to stir fry
6. Put in pork and stir fry
7. Fry until pork almost is cooked
8. Pour in 6 tblspoons of dark soy sauce, continue to stir fry. Note: actually how much sauce to use depends on what brand you are using. Try out first..
9. Slowly stir in water, until cover the pork and mui choy
10. Wait until boiling, then turn down heat to simmer for 1-2 hours. Add water if needed
11. Season with salt and sugar

Can keep without being refridgerated for 2 days..WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-18821668154947758202007-03-25T03:20:00.000-07:002007-03-25T03:29:37.456-07:00Sweet Cube TaufooMom in law taught me how to do this and did a demo on 24th March 2007.

1. Sprinkle 2 tblspoons of sugar on the taufoo
5. Deep fry the onion slices until golden brown
6. Pour fried onions with oil onto the taufoo
7. Quite easy to make, but getting the taste right can be quite hard. Writing the notes down:

1. cut a basket of cabbages into 4. salt them (between leaves) and then keep for 8-9 hours at normal temperature
2. wash with water
3. cut basket-full of radish, carrot and spring onion (leaf) into long and thin strips
4. cut handfull of garlics into moderate chunks
5. a quarter of fish sauce, salt 4 tbspns (or more), sugar, kimchi powder (4 large scoops, with one hand) and garlic into a *huge* mixing bowl
6. mix the cut radish, carrot and spring onion into the bowl. mix with hands (wear plastic gloves that are made for food preparation, the chilli is very hot!)
7. put in the cabbages, making sure that the previous mixed veges are slotted between leaves.
8. roll up cabbage and keep in container, repeat until all cabbage done
9. cover container and then leave at room temperature for about 4 hours
10. after 4 hours, put them in the fridge. can keep for 2 months...WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-1168774228466984922007-01-14T03:14:00.000-08:002007-01-14T03:30:28.480-08:00End Times.. the signsChips so small they can be implanted into your body. It will contant your identity information and be linked to your financial account. Could it be real? It's now available and it's optional. But one day, according to the Bible (Revelations 13:15-17), it will be compulsory. People cannot buy or sell without it. Regardless of whether you are small or great, rich or poor, free or slave, everyone will be forced to wear such "mark" in their foreheads or hands. Research have found that these two places are the most suitable spots on our body to be implanted with these chips.

http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Science-Fiction-News.asp?NewsNum=20

http://www.tldm.org/News4/MarkoftheBeast.htm

Amazingly, this is already prophecied by the disciple of Jesus, John. The book of Revelation was written about the 70 AD (see http://mikeblume.com/revdate.htm). How did this guy John knows about this? Besides the mark of the beast, he also wrote about other things, like earthquakes happening in unusual places, strange diseases, etc. that will happen in the end times. Who would have been able to predict these with such accuracy if not the Creator Himself?
Amazing...WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-1167891267595063482007-01-03T22:12:00.000-08:002007-01-03T22:14:27.606-08:00SQL Function to convert date to work weekcreate function [dbo].[convertToWW]
(@mydate varchar(12))
returns varchar(10)
as begin
declare @ww varchar(12)
set @ww = cast(((select DATEDIFF(day, '1/1/2007', @mydate))/7%52+1) as varchar(2)) + '.' + cast(((select DATEDIFF(day, '1/1/2007', @mydate))%7+1) as varchar(2))+''''+ cast(((select DATEDIFF(day, '1/1/2007', @mydate))/7/52+2007) as varchar(4))
return @ww
end
go

select dbo.convertToWW('5/5/2007')WK&WKnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12443412.post-1166709718844906122006-12-21T05:59:00.000-08:002006-12-21T06:03:42.463-08:00Please help me!Collin had been fidgetting with my laptop and now the CD drive cannot work.
