Although Pat and I have never met, our souls are connected. Thanks Father Mike for making that connection initially through a wonderful song that Pat wrote with a student. We had the pleasure of singing and recording it for her a few years ago. It was suppose to be for her funeral a few years ago, and the Lord said not yet, it is not your time. He continues to bless us with Pat's presence and I am eternal grateful. She gives us all hope for the future even in the midst of pain and suffering. She is such a strong and caring person who touches the lives of people she encounters and even those she has never met. I celebrate life everyday because of Pat. I send her and Rich my prayers and thoughts each day.

I awoke at 1:30 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so I started praying for Pat and Sr. Renilde. At 3 a.m., while Rich, her husband, was holding her hand and talking to her, Pat awoke and was back to her old self. I just spoke to them on the phone. What a joy to hear her voice.

While it is a great relief to Rich, the road ahead is difficult. Pat has, perhaps, four months to live (although she's lived way past previous projections), and the cancer has spread to her temporal lobe. Her great fear is to lose her capacity to think, to write, to create images with words, to express so much that is still within her.
