Her First Adventure.

So we finally did it! We caved and added to our family of two, making us a family of three. Her name is Olive (for now) and she is a West Highland Terrier. She is 7 weeks old and we brought her home last night. She has already had her first poop, pee and spit up, in the apt. But we wont let those things hang over our heads because she slept through her first night! Night a peep came out of her! She is a bundle of love and I like to call her my little polar bear. She desires to be right next to us at all times, cuddling of course!

I know a lot of you have been going through this process with us and have been praying for us and this decision. As Derek likes to say & most of you would agree "I have been looking for the right dog everyday for about 6 months" (haha) Well we found her. And we would love it if you all still kept us in your prayers during this time of adding a puppy to our lives, and all that comes with it. Pray she stays a healthy puppy!

So far so good.

Well we have Mika for the weekend, while her mom went to NYC! We absolutely love having her.

VA BEACH

Derek and I recently took a weekend getaway to Virginia Beach. We loved it. Our hotel was in a perfect spot right on the boardwalk and close to all great things; hagandaaz, Starbucks, sushi, catch 33 (a restaurant we went to almost every night, that had outside firepits.). We would walk to Starbucks every morning and then off to the beach. I absolutely loved the beach, even though the water was freezing! Because they actually allow you to bring your dog to the beach! Derek and I would spend hours watching all the dogs and their owners. We had a great time hanging out and exploring. We walked every where, and didn't have to use the car but once, to go visit historical lighthouses on a military base. Derek and I also got to go to the Aquarium, something we love doing in every city we visit.

Booze Brownies

I had my first experience trying these in SLC at the UTAH vs BYU tailgating party and fell in love with sin! Their just soo amazing, so I made them for Thanksgiving and they were a hit!

So here is the recipe for all to enjoy:

Ingredients:

1 21 oz Brownie Mix

1/4 Cup bourbon

1 Cup Butter

3 TBLS rum

2 Cup Powdered sugar

1 6 oz Bag of Choc Chips

1 TBLS Veg shortening

Directions:

1. Bake brownies as directed on package. Drizzle brownies with bourbon as soon as removed from oven and refrigerate

2. Cream butter, rum and powdered sugar. Spread on cooled brownies and refrigerate again

3. Melt chocolate chips and shortening together in microwave. Spread quickly on top of brownies and chill until served

Notes: Can add up to 1/3 cup of bourbon if taste preferred.

Happy Thanksgiving!
This year Derek and I traveled back to GA where we met my family and stayed at the Brown's. It was so fun seeing everyone and being around family and friend was such a blessing for us. It was at the same time last year Derek proposed to me, so it meant that much more to us to go back one year later and be with the same people who celebrated that day with us!

We are so thankful to the Brown's for having us there and Mika too!

Derek and I got to fly out to SLC and spend time with his family this past weekend. It was such a great time! We are so grateful to his Dad for flying us out there... and spoiling us the whole time!

BIG THANKS!!!!

Friday, we went to the red butte gardens and then Vicki surprised us with massages!!! And then Friday night was the open house party at his dad's jewelry store, which was so great! I got to meet a whole bunch of amazing people who have impacted Derek's life, that I have only heard stories of and Derek got to see some family and old friends who he hadn't seen in a long time.

Saturday, Derek and his Dad went on a bike ride and then we headed out for tailgating at 12:30.
It was such a great time and truly an experience and winning the game made it all that much more fun!!! Derek's parent's have such great friends, all incredibly nice, generous, and fun.

We truly had a great time in the State of Utah!
