Kamarulzaman & Nadiah's Wedding - Miri

Hi all! Sometime earlier in June I've got the opportunity to photographed another malay wedding here in Miri. This time, it was Kamarulzaman & Nadiah's 'Bersanding' ceremony. They had their main wedding event in KL few weeks before and this time, its a celebration on the groom's side. Being the only boy among six siblings in the family, Kamarul had his job brought him to finally meet his 'jodoh' in Selangor. Yup, they met in the same organization. Started as friends, they came to realize their attraction towards each other, thus Kamarul made his serious approach for Nadiah.

Before Kamarul was posted to KL, we use to see each other coz we live in the same neighborhood here. Though not attending the same secondary school, I use to also hang out with his sister Shikin and the rest of the neighbors...'best bah mun ingat-ingat zaman skolah dolok oh..'

To Kamarulzaman & Nadiah, thank you for having me covering your event. Its a lovely experience seeing you both on the pelamin and cracking all those funny faces with your nieces & nephews. "Tahniah dari kami di Anderson's Picturific. Semoga berkekalan ke anak cucu... sekali ngan cicit juak lah!"

After cutting their wedding cake, a birthday cake suddenly appeared. It was for Kamarul's eldest sister whose birthday happen to fall on the same day. She didn't know coz the family planned a surprise for her. Talk about double celebration aei!

What are you guys pointing at ah?!! hahahhaaahaa....

Its a local malay culture here to have the 'Nasi Temuan' session (Uniting Rice.. that's my direct translation ah) during weddings. The idea is to be the first to 'shove' the food into his/her partner's mouth. Its actually a funny scene to watch! I know I was very much entertained by this couple's expression.. :P

Wadid I tell yah!

Nadiah was very skillful in maneuvering her bouquet to block Kamarul's attack and simultaneously reached her fingers to Kamarul's mouth. Even Kamarul's mighty tongue, couldn't avoid Nadiah's ferocious encounter.

The Emang's Family Session - Taman Sahabat, Kuching

During our stay in Kuching, I had the opportunity to meet up with a 'long time no see' cousin of mine, Bulan and her hubby Alfred Emang with their baby girl, Zaeborahh Esther PinQ(long name for a kid aei!). Sometime around 5.30pm at Taman Sahabat, BDC Kuching, we were just strolling along the lake when these shots suddenly popped into my camera. Funny how Nikon can work wonders sometimes!...well, all the time actually! :P

Davin, picking up on photography too, was my 'lightboy' for the evening while Jenn was the clown trying to get Pinq's attention for certain shots. Thanks guys! I 'belanja' kolok mee next trip kay but Davin, you have to come back from Canada again..

Emang & Bulan, t'was great catching up with you guys again though it was just for few hours. Hope you guys love these pics from your set here.. Hugs to baby Pinq from Jenn & I kay!

Vincent & Miriam's 2nd Wedding Reception, Kuching

Hi all.. I was in Kuching over the Gawai holidays. This time, we attended Vincent & Miriam's 2nd wedding reception. Located at Kuching Park Hotel, Vincent's family & friends sure showed us how to party...HARD!! and I (the photographer) was not excluded during the 'sadong' (drinking) sessions. On the evening itself, Miriam looked 'grand' with her custom made imported from Miri evening gown, while Vincent was no joke, 'Smashing' in his suit! This is one wedding reception I'll never forget.

To Vincent & Miriam, thank you for having us and the time spent with you guys in Kuching. It was a great opportunity to visit the city again after many years. Thanks for making it Jenn's first time to Kuching too. Places you guys brought us for the yummy noodles and Vincent's family hospitality, Jenn & I very much thank you all.

WOW! We've gone thru it all, right guys! From your outdoor E-sessions, Engagement Dinner, Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Reception in Miri and finally your Kuching Wedding Reception. All the moments & happenings around you both, I'm thankful for this amazing opportunity to 'Picturic' it all for you! Best wishes & fun marriage to the both of you again & again kay..

Victor & Jessica's E-Session

Couple of weeks back, I was photographing Victor & Jessica's outdoor engagement session at Taman Selera & Marina Bay. So, here are picks from their session.. Enjoy!!

Day 1, we started of with casual wear at an alley somewhere in Chinatown. After finishing up with some 'smooching' shots, we proceeded to the Jeti at Taman Selera. Weather was gud, sky was blue.. pictures were...you guys tell me lah.

Day 2, we headed straight to Marina Bay to summarize their session in their evening wear. Again, weather was good and the mood vibrated by this couple was intense! In a jolly fun way that is! Not so much of directing for the both sessions.. Thanks to my assistants, Lili & Jenn. Oh.. I thank Lili for introducing Victor, her brother that is. To Victor & Jessica, all the fun & joy in preparation of your wedding day. Thanks guys for the wonderful time.

Festival Of Praise - 2nd Nite - Dewan Suarah, Miri

The 2nd night was F.O.P's opening ceremony, officiated by YB Dato Jacob Dungau Sagan, Deputy Minister of International Trade & Industry of Malaysia. The evening was again filled with various presentations from local artiste & groups. Among them were singer & song writer, Shal Sagan, who is now based in Kuching and all the way from Kota Kinabalu, Wilson B. Lion, who've also produced an album.

Mr Romulus, an International 'Orang Ulu' dancer, lead the 'Daerah Miri' team with the welcoming traditional dance..

Accompanying Shal on the bass guitar was Alan. This fella has gone a long way with his tapping & sliding. Gotta admire the skill lah!

..and on the drums was Melvin.. (this guy is one incredible drummer and respecting his humble request, I'm allowed to say here that he was also the former drummer for a local band which have made themselves heard around Malaysia & Indonesia).

The stage was also 'served' with dramas. Such talented actors & actresses we have around Miri!

The mothers presented a dance as well.. Gracefully done!

..after a few more presentations, the evening ended with 2 songs from his album "SUSUION" (in Dusun it means, 'Tell The Story') by Wilson B. Lion of Sabah. To grab a copy of his album, contact his agent HERE.

Now that the concert is over, I've started to do a few strums on my acoustic Fender & my Ibanez Gio which has been gathering dust all this while.

But suddenly a thought overcame me! What will happen to my Nikon D300 & D40X?!!

Will they gather dust as well?.. hmmmmmmm.. (..thinking very longggg)

Festival Of Praise - 1st Nite - Dewan Suarah, Miri

Dated 18th to the 20th March 2009 marks another round of accomplishment for the Miri District SIB Youth Ministry in organizing the Festival Of Praise at the Civic Centre. The festival gathers not only bands & dance groups from the SIB churches but also other Christian denominations around Miri as well. Pastor Bios of Sabah was the guest speaker. Though I missed the 3rd night, I'd say the event is a positive move towards polishing & discovering new talents in the music & dance ministry for His glory. Well done to the committee, ushers and to all the groups participated during the 3 nights. To those attended, thank you for your support and prayers..

Hi all...

Time for another wedding post.. Vincent & Miriam are not new to most of you frequent Picturific readers here. I've captured & showcased their E-session, Engagement ceremony and now, their WEDDING!! Yup.. They've had their wedding end of last month at SIB Krokop Evengelical Church here in Miri.

Growing up from the same church, and getting involve with youth & young adults activities over the years has exposed us to many possibilities. The camps, the makan makan sessions, the movies, the hangin out in town, the girlfriends.. Oops! I'm not suppose to talk bout myself here..hahhahaa..I meant friends ah! Excuse my blabbering ah..

Anyway, Vincent & Miriam's wedding was held at our mentioned church above and need me to say this, the stage decoration was AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL, EXTRAORDINARY, "GRAND KAU KAU TILL YOUR JAW OSO CAN DROP ONE LAH!!" ....I bet it cost em a BOMB for all those layouts... Well done to the manager in charge ah.

To Vincent & Miriam, I thank you both for believing in me in 'freezing' moments of your wedding day. Together with the Young Adults Fellowship of KEC, we share the joy with you. I wish you both the "bestest and funnest and joyous and and and .... I'm out of words ody..time" together till ever after kay!

Mark & Lynn's Wedding (Reception) - Pulai Springs Resort - Johor Bahru

Located at Kencanapuri Ballroom at the Pulai Springs Resort, Johor Bahru, Mark & Lynn held their grand wedding reception attended by both sides of the family & friends. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a cocktail reception just outside the hall.

Mark & Lynn's Wedding (Day) - Johor Bahru

Being in JB last month, I was given the honor to photograph Mark & Lynn's wedding. Photographing a Chinese wedding, I got to shoot the 'Girls bullying the Guys session', the groom doing weird 'stunts' and of course, the must have...Tea Ceremony session. On the day itself, there were 9 Bridesmaids (..they were called Sisters, though they were not 'linked' by blood)..don't ask me why.. On Mark's side, there were 9 Groomsmen as well (..the guys were addressed as the Brothers, though they too were not 'linked' by blood). Talk about a big crowd aei!!

Though Lynn was Jenn's housemate in Singapore years back, I didn't just tag along & feast during the reception ah..(which was my intention at first...hehehe). However, I end up hired to shoot along side Canon 'shooter', Mr Ben Cheng and Pro videographer, Mr. Ian Kok of iStudio. Superb cameramen, these guys.

I have tons of words to describe the day but I don't think this blog can accommodate my elaboration.. So here you go guys.. Let the 'Pixels' below 'Scribble' its story on my behalf!

Oh.. before that, Jenn & I would like so much to wish both of you, Mark & Lynn, the very best in your new journey as husband & wife. Thank you for your hospitality too during our stay in JB. The hotel was really....'Wwaaaaaahhhhhhhh'....

Uniquely Singapore..again..

Hi all.. after KL, we were in Singapore..again. This time, Jenn & I were with uncle & aunt from Atlanta. Knowing they were in KL too, we took a trip down for a night in Singapore. Nothing much planned though.. just free and easy. Going to places to eat & take random photos of people in the streets. Not many photographs this trip though coz I was recuperating. Jenn & I left for JB the day after while Papa & Mama B flew back to KL.

As some of you may know, my weekends in February was occupied all through. After 2 weddings, Jenn & I flew to KL on a Tuesday evening. Spent 2 nights in KL before our departure to Singapore & JB for another wedding. Visiting 'the house' was the agenda and after clearing some papers with the office, we spent our evening with 'long time no see' friends again.

Thanks Annie for your hospitality. 2 joint queen sized beds in a room was more than what we expected! Much thanks babe!

After a whole day shopping at The Curve, we had dinner at TGI Friday's opposite IT Mall. (Photo taken by a member of TGI Friday's.. sorry I miss the name)

After dinner we parted. The ladies went home while Nick drove us to the KTM Station(Keretapi Tanah Melayu). After a few miss-outs, we had the opportunity to chat again.. Yeah folks, I'm talking about Mr Syahrin Aziz (Photoshop Guru). Always willing to share his thought and ideas, it was a refreshing session for me.

Paul & Olivia's Wedding Reception - Mega Hotel, Miri

Held at Imperial Ballroom at Mega Hotel Miri, another wedding reception, another 'loud' event it was! This time I had the pleasure to photograph the wedding reception of Mr & Mrs Paul Lai on a sunday evening just a day after my previous wedding shoot. It was a 'full swing' weekend but that didn't tire me a bit. I'm very much thankful to Cynthia's (Olivia's sister in-law) mother having introduced my past work to the couple few weeks before the event. Even before the meeting, I was told that Olivia is one of my niece.. How so? Well, we're link from Olivia's mum's side. How sweet is that?!! I'm one young uncle, aren't I..hehehe..

Paul on the other hand has a rather spontaneous character. Loves to joke this fella! Though written clearly on a paper, he can still crack a few lines extra during his thank you speech which left some of us in tears, laughing!

Here, I'd like to wish the both of you, Paul & Olivia, the best & may your marriage prosper endlessly. Thank you for believing in me & I've gotta say here, photographing for you, did, get me knowing more of the relatives that night (Hope I still can remember who is who again...). Anyway, cheers to the both of you again and hope everyone will enjoy this set from your memorable evening!

Cassady & Luciana's Wedding

Hi all.. After being silent for about 3 weeks, I now bring you this new set which I captured alongside pro landscape photographer, Jiaren. Attended my first 'Bulk' wedding ceremony at St Joseph Cathedral two weeks back, it was another interesting experience for me. The couple was solemnized together with 4 other couples.

The bride was introduced to me by her sister, Fiona & her dad, whom happen to work at the same company with my dad. Anyway, I won't post so much of the church scenes this time coz we took tons of outdoor shots right after the wedding. Yup!! Outdoor session with the couple at 1.00pm! Photographers may avoid shooting at mid-day but this couple was 'heat-resistance' and at times, they did poses of their own too.

To Cassady & Luciana, thank you for having me photograph your event. Its another honor for me. Under the hot sun, it was a good 'tanning' therapy for me. You guys must have gone straight to the showers right after, I think? Anyway, best wishes to the both of you and the whole family yah! Blessed marriage, you guys!

To Jiaren (all the way from Australia), it was nice having shoot with you. Now you have another wedding to add to your portfolio aei! Thanks for allowing me use some of your shots bro. Norman & Shandy's Outdoor E-Session - Petroleum Museum, Miri

Being separated across continents (one in East Malaysia & another in the UK), Norman & Shandy have 'just started' their first step towards "Rings, I do's and Ever After". I had a quick outdoor portrait session with the couple at Miri's Petroleum Museum coz we had to head straight to Dynasty Hotel for their engagement dinner. Nonetheless, it was a 'breeze' coz both Norman & Shane can really compliment each other in every frames.

So, their story goes a bit like this.. The couple have known each other from church a couple years back. As time passed, their feelings & love for each other flourished even though distance kept them apart, when Shandy was sent to UK to further her studies while Norman was posted to work in Labuan with an Oil & Gas company.

Shawn's Portraiture

Over the holidays in KK, I took quite a number of 'impromptu portraits assignments'. Here's an intro to an addition to the Chang family, Shawn Spencer Chang.

After his bath, little Shawn was dressed up by his mummy for an outing. While his daddy (my brother in-law, Spencer) was out , little Shawn was left to play on the bed on his own. Meeting up with George & Jofanna - Tanjung Aru - Kota Kinabalu

As promised on my previous post, here are some shots I did while George (Jofanna Bridal) was 'working' on shots for Felix & Linda's E-session. I never thought of meeting up with another fellow photographer at an 'excluded' location that day.. Same site where I was photographing Stevenson's portraits.

Being in the photographic arena for few years, I haven't experience work in it. Its very much a passion & I believe that is one source tat gets us going. To George & Jofanna, it was nice meeting you both. Finally we get to shake hands. I followed your work since you started ur blog & I've gotta say, you guys are doing wonderful art for the couples there in KK. Hope to catch up soon guys!

Stevenson's Portraiture Session - Kota Kinabalu - Sabah

My holidays will always be accompanied by impromptu assignments. Not complaining but I'm actually in awe of the appreciation I get when friends fully utilize my presence, from the artwork I've created of course. What means so much to me personally is observing people flipping the photos I did for them over & over again. I'd like to thank all of you whom have 'experienced' making memories lasts with me.

So, here's another session I did in KK. Also located somewhere around Tanjung Aru, I brought Stevenson to the same place I 'shot' Philip & Gevany coz he wanted to have something different from his usual concepts. Stevenson is an uprising musician based in KK. A good friend of the family, I was approached to do some shots to add to his personal collection. So since he's into guitars, I thought of not just do a 'face portrait' with him but to include 'his soul' in his photographs. So here goes the artwork!

Before I end this post, check out this story:

While I was on the ground (taking more shots of Stevenson of course).. a nice looking guy approached me. He said, "Anderson?".. then I was like, "Yeah..and you aaaaaaare...?" and he said, "George.. Jofanna Bridal?"

(Excuse my simplest attire here kay. For the 1/2 hour session, I went extremely casual! By the way, thanks Janet for the photo.. you're one fast learner babe!)

I halt for a sec! Imagine this guys.. I was at a 'left behind' building with no people around, quiet some more, suddenly someone approached and talk to you by the name, wouldn't that question you? I know I was! But then, when he mentioned his name was George, I somehow thought he look familiar.

If just now I was sharing about Stevenson, the uprising Guitarist, here's KK's uprising photographer, George & his mrs, of Jofanna Bridal whom happen to picked the same location for their photoshoot with a couple too!..(George has been in my list of contact blogger all this while but only met him in the flesh that day). I'll load some more shots in my next post. Gotta run now.. Gotta pack for our drive to KK tomorrow! Yup... we'll be in KK again so.. Call me! (number is on my profile above)

Ex Stella Maris Boarders Reunion - Le Meridian Hotel - Kota Kinabalu

Here's a brief posting on where I was before the New Year. Jenn & her ex-schoolmates (SM Stella Maris), organised a meet up.. a reunion at Le Meridian Hotel. I was inform they were all in boarding together. Since I was rather free for the night, I was also invited to join em...Well actually, I made the 'puppy face' to Jenn so she would bring me along. True enough, it was a success! I tagged along...hehehe. Hey... they wanted a photographer too okay!

To all you beautiful ladies that nite (Jenn's not included coz she's supper-dupper gorgeous), thank you for having me. Nice knowing you all! Here's a card I made for you all. Hope you like it!

Philip & Gevany Hughes - Outdoor Portraiture Session - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Residing in the UK after they got married, I finally came face to face with this lovely couple in Kota Kinabalu, few days right after Christmas! Booked for half a year for this photography session was indeed an intriguing experience for me.
Hmmm.. lets see, can count this my 1st international couple ah? hahahaa..

Celebrating their 2nd anniversary, this couple flew down to visit Gevany's family in KK...and then for another long 'honeymoon' around South East Asia.. Two months was it? Envy em!! Okay.. back to my story now. The site we shot at was located somewhere in Tanjung Aru. Planned to shoot at some nice paddy field around Penampang but time & sun did not permit us to travel. Though so, I'd like to thank brother Chai, for driving us around the day before scouting for sites.

We started shooting at Gevany's parents place and there on it lead to a beach & finally a run down building nearby. Having blasts of laughs with the couple, the session was very much ENTERTAINED! You see, being a photographer, sometimes it takes a lot from me to direct poses with my 'subjects' but these two were very much spontaneous, especially Gevany! I HARDLY find a moment to not hear her giggle and joke at us. Very bubbly this lady! Too much bubble bath at the hotel maybe. As for Phil, he did a lot of the 'cool' & 'macho' poses. Well, I'd say one full year of discipline work-out at the gym really pays of!

Alright now, these are chips of their anniversary portraits together with Gevany's family. Cherio!!

After the family left, We proceeded with the 'Just Us' session.
Equipments : Nikon D300 body, Nikkor 18-200mm, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, SB600 & SB800 Speedlight, Reflector.
Assistants : Chai, Cecilia, Janet & Jenn. (Actually, only brother Chai helped with the reflector. The girls just 'help' watching!)

Few years of marriage.. the love is still strong! Aaaaawwwwww..

To Philip & Gevany, thank you for your trust in Picturific! Thanks for the lovely dinner too! Jenn & I had a ball. From all of us at Picturific, Happy New Year & may over-flowing prosperity (babies included) come your way soon!

Muliadi & Sabrah's Wedding - Majlis Khatam Al-Quran & Bersanding

The 2nd day of their wedding ceremony was even more crowded. Before the "Bersanding Ceremony", the couple had to go through the "Majlis Khatam Al-Quran". The couple were guided by religious leaders from a nearby Surau.

After about 30 mins of the ceremony, Muliadi left to change into the "Bersanding" costume (at a friend's home few kilometers away).

Upon arrival of the groom's side, they were welcomed with beats of the 'Kompang'. Young & old they filled the air with loud claps & synchronized beats, all the way till the couple met & sat wondrously on the "Pelamin".

After the prayer of blessing & some more "Tepung Tawar", the Bride & Groom went out to greet their guests. As I expected, everyone 'swarm' around the couple to get a shot of the "Raja & Permaisuri Sehari".

Come 'makan' time was one exciting scene to watch. A tradition they had was to feed each other. But they were told to beat each other to it! Meaning, whoever feeds the other first, wins! I tell you, it was one NASTY scene.. rice & curry was everywhere on the floor.

So.. there you go guys! Another happy moments I manage to freeze in Pixels. Hope you guys were entertained as much as I enjoyed photographing the couple's wedding.

Muliadi & Sabrah's Wedding - Majlis Tepung Tawar & Berlulut

First of all, I'd like to thank the couple for the opportunity to photograph all 3 days of their ceremonies. Since the engagement to your wedding ceremony. Held at Sabrah's home, the occasion was a grand event. Upon completion of their album, I've picked some of these for all you excited viewers out there. To the couple's relatives, you all were really 'hyper' for me.. You all 'conducted' a full body workout on me! Feeeeiuuh!! Glad its over.. hehehehe

No need to mention the couple, they're extremely hilarious themselves. They never seem to run out of weird poses whole day through.

On this 1st day of the ceremony, the "Tepung Tawar" ceremony witness immediate family members & close friends offering their blessings to the couple then followed by a short photography session with everyone present. From what they mentioned, the "Berlulut" is their version of a fashion show..

After the ceremony, we had a short outdoor photography session... somewhere just opposite their home. At an incomplete house...

And then few more shots at home..

See.. didn't I say they're funny?!

In the evening, I dropped by the house again to observe Muliadi & Sabrah putting on their "Inai". An aunt was the expert so she drew the 'artwork' on the couple's hands & feet.

As for 'some people'... it was a terrifying experience.

After the couple had their hands done, I had mine too.. on my right foot!

Hi All..

This has got to be my longest blog silence in history maybe!! Been really hectic since my last post. Tons of photos to work on & albums to finish. Yup.. You read that right. Albums! A new addition to Picturific's packages this year.

Anyway, I promised to show you some shots from Christmas last year so here's a quick glance of Christmas.. (sounds so long ago ain't it..)

On the Eve of Christmas, we were in Church..singing carols, with candles..ahhh.. Simply Majestic!

Pastor was delivering a message on The Gift of christmas. KEC Media made an outstanding stage & photoslide presentation too. Well done guys!

On Christmas day, we ate...ate.. & ate! Two of the many happy faces at our place that day.

Some were beyond Christmas and probably so looking forward for the new year.. Here's Uncle Chris, doing the 'Deep In Thoughts' pose !

As for Jenn & I, we had our share of Happy Faces too

Hi all.. Was occupied preparing for Christmas so I've at the same time, 'consumed' my blogging time. Deepest apologies for the late Bario final posting guys.

Anyway, to update you on my itinerary, Jenn & I will be off to Kota Kinabalu tomorrow. Will be doing some portraiture photo shooting sessions there soon.
