5. Take my nieces and grandkids to Europe.
6. Provide even more aid than I do now so that all animals will live better lives.

ImPEACHment Summer Social Recipes

Earl in Toronto suggests that, in honor of Bush's impending impeachment, we have a summer social. It's going to be delicious.

ImPEACHment Crisp with Nuts

In a 9 x 9 baking dish, place the following:

3 c. sliced, ripe peaches
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar (you can cut this in half if you choose, and generally, I do)

Top with a mixture of:

1 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. firm butter

Bake at 375 F for ~30 min., until topping is lightly browned and the peaches are tender. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

A Revolution That Tastes Good, and the Best Things Never Change

The theobromines in chocolate act with certain chemical receptors which enhance feelings of well-being. (Ba'al may insert the specific pathways here, should He so desire.)

Not only that, what tastes better?

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES LA POISSONIERE

Preheat oven to 375 F.

In a large bowl, combine the following:

1 stick softened butter
1/2 c. Crisco (you can insert the jokes over at someone else's blog!)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla or 2 tsp. vanilla sugar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar

Combine by hand or with an electric mixer till well blended.

Add and mix:

2 c. all purpose flour, or 1/2 c. whole wheat flour and 1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Stir into the dough:

1-12 oz. wrapper of chocolate chips (I'm partially to Ghirardelli, but any decent brand will suffice)
1 c. pecans or walnuts, if desired. (You can add more chocolate chips if you desire instead.)

Drop by tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-13 minutes, depending upon your oven. Wait 2 minutes and remove. You'll need at least another five minutes unless you want to eat with a fork.

BlakNo1 would most likely recommend 2 percent milk with these.

These People Are Scaring Me, and They Should Scare You, Too

Anyone who doubts the power of the Religious Right in this nation is simply not paying attention. The most dangerous aspect of this is that they are being treated as a mainstream, even majority point of view.

To make this assumption belies the truth of the matter.

Religious fundamentalists, according to the Fundamentalist Project, make up about 22 percent of the population, but as they are the mainstay of Bush's base, and thus granted far more power than is rightfully theirs. Even small timers like Rick Scarborough are getting their names in the news, and that is, to my mind, an obscenity beyond description.

The MSM has kowtowed to these traitors and heretics in the worst way. Instead of showing them for the freakish snake handlers and cultists that they are, their voice is the only one being given legitimacy at this time. Shills like Barbara Bradley Hagerty are given prime air time on NPR, and any time there's a discussion regarding matters of religion, someone from a group such as Focus on the Family are present.

Their voices do not need to be silenced; this is allegedly a democracy, and that gives everyone the right to be stupid. But they do need to be delegitimized.

There is a bill in Congress right now to allow members of the ministry to speak on political matters without losing their tax exempt status, right along with the threat to destroy the filibuster and appoint extremist judges.

My solution for delegitimizing the interests of these groups would be to have the IRS investigate them on a huge scale, but apparently, they're too busy auditing servers and auto mechanics to do so.

The Rapture is a myth, folks, and much as we'd like it, we're not going to have these people pulled out of their clothes and cars on the freeway.

I should soon have some more recent pics of her--this was taken in 2003--but she's the reason I get to celebrate Mother's Day! Personally, I think she's gorgeous; not that I'm biased or anything. She's also smart, funny, and best of all, she's a harcore liberal and feminist, and calls herself so proudly. Perhaps I did do some things right!

What Fun is a Revolution If the Food Sucks?

Emma Goldman stipulated that she would not be present at the revolution if she could not dance.

In the same spirit, I'd like to say that good food, whatever the times we live in, is a must.

Eschaton, where I spend far too much time (instead of doing things like housecleaning, grading, etc.), has a collection of the most fabulous cooks any revolution could ask for.

The name of this blog was selected out of my admiration for the poissardes of the French Revolution. On October 5, 1 789, a group of Parisian fishwives stormed the Palace of Versailles in the early morning hours. (There is some dispute as to whether or not they were helped by "The Baker.") The fishwives, angry at not being able to afford bread to feed their families, helped facilitate the capture of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

Proving once again, that never are the least without power.
