Released on Dynastic Records, it is the first compilation of contemporary Japanese peace music.

It is available across Japan from regular music stores, such as Tower Records and HMV, for ¥2625. After the retail release, the CD will also be made available through other outlets, such as from peace groups, online and at selected live events.

Featured artists include the well known, like Soul Flower Union, Dry & Heavy, Ryukyu Underground and Kotobuki, and also independent musicians, many of who have written and recorded material specifically for this project. Together, they come from across Japan (Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka, Okinawa, etc) and unite around themes of peace, the horrors of war and other social issues facing the modern world. The collection also spans many genres, taking in rock, dub, breakbeat, hip-hop and others.

This CD provides a perfect opportunity to hear new Japanese voices taking part in a world dialogue on the direction our troubled times are taking. With it, Japan joins an international coalition of artists and activists who are opposed to the rise in global conflicts in recent times and who are also redefining protest music for the 21st Century.

The PNWJ group' s mission is to raise awareness in Japan about peace and war, and to nurture the grassroots of the Japanese peace movement. This will be done by donating proceeds from the sale of CDs to non-violent groups working to end war and create global peace. Peace groups will also be able to sell the CDs themselves. This DIY method of fundraising enabled the UK-based parent organisation Peace Not War (PNW) to donate over $100,000 to the global peace movement. Please contact us on the given details below if you represent a peace group that would like to work with PNWJ.

youngjeffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03591861292739523523noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12214219.post-1146906235203062102006-05-06T18:00:00.000+09:002006-05-06T18:04:40.480+09:00AMANOJAX PARTY CANCELLEDWe are sorry to inform you that due to expected bad weather the open air party, AMANOJAX BLOCK PARTY at Yoyogi Koen on Sunday 7th May has been cancelled. Seven Dub - Rock With Me (Play 010 CD)
PLAY LABEL keep up their international connections with a new Japan-only cd for spring, by France’s respected soulful reggae unit SEVEN DUB. Their third album, ROCK WITH ME will be released on May 30, 2005.

ROCK WITH ME is packed with no less than 16 solid tracks. It features guest appearances from Berlin-based Paul St. Hilaire (a.k.a Tikiman), and long-term Seven Dub collaborator Angelique Wilkie. Also featured are the rough ragga vocals of Zakeya from Dominica and Jamaican sing-jay legend Lone Ranger, who collaborated with the band on a recent visit to Paris.

Paul St. Hilaire lends his distinctive vocals to U and DEM which comes with a special Japan-only version by LITTLE TEMPO propelling it into outer-space dub territory. The Seven Dub original as well as the Little Tempo version are also available on a special Japan-only 7” vinyl single.

For more information on the album and single see the RELEASES page.

youngjeffhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03591861292739523523noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12214219.post-1113645919793613262005-04-16T18:58:00.001+09:002005-05-17T01:15:00.120+09:00In BED with Young Jeff

Play label's young Jeff was in Thailand last weekend and DJ'ed at the swankiest spot in town, the Bedsupperclub.
