Given the size of our group and a number of Easter long weekend absences, plus the fact that the <a href="http://www.cafedabar.com/">coffee shop where we usually meet</a> will be closed, we've opted to do "distributed churching" with our collective extended family. In other words, be with your family, however it is you define it, drop in on another of the many churches and gatherings that are part of "the body", or gather as you will to consider the meaning of this, the defining event of our faith.<br /><br />And wherever you are, we hope you'll take a moment to say a little prayer for our little church, and join the larger church in shared reading from the <a href="http://www.thesolcafe.com/food/2006/10/revised-common-lectionary.html">Revised Common Lectionary</a>. The verses for this weekend are:<br /><br /><table bgcolor="#ffffff" border="1" width="95%"><tbody><tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td> <a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BHolyWeek/bMaundyThurs.htm">Maundy Thursday</a><big><br /></big> (Holy Thursday)<br />April 9, 2009</td> <td>Exodus 12:1-4, (5-10), 11-14 </td> <td>Ps. 116:1-2, 12-19</td> <td>I Cor. 11:23-26 </td> <td>John 13:1-17,31b-35</td> </tr> <tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BHolyWeek/bGoodFriday.htm">Good Friday</a><br />April 10, 2009</td> <td>Isaiah 52:13-53:12 </td> <td>Psalm 22</td> <td>Heb. 10:16-25<br /> or<br /> <em>Heb. 4:14-16; 5:7-9 </em></td> <td>John 18:1-19:42</td> </tr> <tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BHolyWeek/bHolySaturday.htm">Holy Saturday</a><br />April 11, 2009</td> <td>Job 14:1-14<br /> or<br /> <em>Lamentations 3:1-9, 19-24 </em></td> <td>Psalm 31:1-4, 15-16 </td> <td>I Peter 4:1-8 </td> <td>Matt. 27:57-66<br /> or<br /> <em>John 19:38-42</em></td></tr><tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td width="19%"><div align="center"><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterVigil.htm">Easter Vigil</a><br />April 11, 2009</div></td> <td width="19%"><div align="center"><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterVigil.htm">Multiple</a></div></td> <td width="19%"><div align="center"><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterVigil.htm">Multiple</a></div></td> <td width="19%"><div align="center"><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterVigil.htm">Multiple</a></div></td> <td width="19%"><div align="center"><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterVigil.htm">Multiple</a></div></td> </tr> <tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEasterSun.htm">Resurrection of the Lord</a><br /> Easter Day<br />April 12, 2009</td> <td>*Acts 10:34-43<br /> or<br /> <em>Isaiah 25:6-9</em> </td> <td>Ps. 118:1-2, 14-24 </td> <td>I Cor. 15:1-11<br /> or<br /> <em> Acts 10:34-43 </em></td> <td>John 20:1-18<br />or<br /><em>Mark 16:1-8</em></td> </tr> <tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BEaster/bEastereve.htm">Easter Evening</a><br />April 12, 2009</td> <td>Isaiah 25:6-9 </td> <td>Psalm 114 </td> <td>I Corinthians 5:6b-8 </td> <td>Luke 24:13-49</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12114163-1678946557500757321?l=www.thesolcafe.com'/></div>the sol cafe webguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08891876273769862331noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12114163.post-32996542387352250872009-03-26T14:11:00.003-06:002009-03-26T15:50:58.381-06:00Service Service on Sunday March 29, 2009On Sunday, March 29, starting at 4 pm, the sol cafe will be gathering for what we call a "service service" -- our church taking our weekly gathering time and using it for worship through action. We try to do this once a month, or as the need arises, helping out with whomever happens to need help. We've sorted food donations at the Salvation Army depot, cooked dinner at Ronald McDonald House, even sorted Lego at the World of Science.<br /><br />This service service will bring us back to the <a href="http://www.capitalhealth.ca/HospitalsandHealthFacilities/Hospitals/StolleryChildrensHospital/default.htm">Stollery Children's Hospital</a> to do a clean up of "The Beach," a wonderful place where kids can go to play away from their room while at the hospital for treatment. Please wear work clothes and bring scrubbers if you have some. We'll be meeting at the Beach at 4 ish.<br /><br />Hope to see you there!<br /><br />Our verses for this week from the <a href="http://www.thesolcafe.com/food/2006/10/revised-common-lectionary.html">Revised Common Lectionary</a> are as follows:<br /><br /><table bgcolor="#ffffff" border="0" width="95%"><tbody><tr align="center" valign="middle"> <td><a href="http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary/BLent/bLent5.htm">Fifth Sunday in Lent</a><br /> March 29, 2009 </td> <td>Jeremiah 31:31-34 </td> <td>Psalm 51:1-12<br /> or<br /> <em>Psalm 119:9-16</em></td> <td>Hebrews 5:5-10 </td> <td>John 12:20-33</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12114163-3299654238735225087?l=www.thesolcafe.com'/></div>the sol cafe webguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08891876273769862331noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12114163.post-87024984906981367702009-03-22T16:00:00.000-06:002009-03-21T12:32:22.327-06:00Casual Sunday<span style="font-family:Georgia;"></span><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;">On Sunday, March 22nd,</span></span></span></span></span><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"> starting <a href="http://www.thesolcafe.com/manifesto/2006/03/we-operate-on-mexico-time.html">around 4 pm</a>, the sol cafe will be gathering at <a href="http://www.cafedabar.com/">Cafe Dabar</a> (10816 Whyte Ave)</span></span></span></span>.
