I recently completed the 360° Reach Personal Branding Assessment. The assessment has given me very factual insight into who I am as a leader, manager and all around person. The data from this assessment is providing me the facts that my current values and approach over the last decade is very solid, which in turn gives me the confidence and reassurance that I should reach for higher aspirations outside my comfort zone in all parts of my life. I highly recommend checking out the assessment.

Annual Adventure to StoryLand

For those that are not from the New England area and have young children (to be honest, I'm a kid at heart) you have to check out StoryLand in Glen, New Hampshire. This week-end went on our second annual trip with the boys to StoryLand. The last ride of the day was the Bamboo Chutes roller coaster. It was awesome.....

The other day I was taking a drive up to New Hampshire and I had an opportunity to listen to some of Jack Welch's audio book Winning. There is a section in the book about hire good people and if you had to ask one interview question what would it be. Mr. Welch felt that a really good interview question is to ask potential candidates:

"Why did you leave your last job and the one before it?"

The Joy of Growing Up Italian

As a young boy I have fond memories of heading to Long Island from New Jersey on Sunday morning to visit my Grandma and Papa for traditional Sunday dinner. I can remember vividly the abundance of good Italian food and grandpa at the end of the table drinking a small glass of homemade red wine and puffing on his cigar. Attached is an article that a colleague gave me a couple of years ago that talks about growing up Italian. I found the article to be very moving and hope that this tradition could continue with my family. Do you have Sunday dinners at your house that brings your family together?

Charlie Rose Interview's India's Top IT Executives

Last night I came across this very informative interview that Charlie Rose, PBS Talk Show host, was having with two of India's top IT Executives, Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro Technologies and Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys. These are two of the top IT Services company's based in India. The interview talks about the current IT growth rate in India and the relationship that India has with China. Odeo Podcasting: New Features

I mentioned Odeo last month in the Web 2.0 blog entry. I was reading through my RSS feeds in NewsGator tonight and saw on the Odeo's blog that they have introduced some new features. Well I went over to my Odeo account, created a short podcast, pasted the HTML coding into my Blogger editing software and within 10 minutes I have audio on my blog. The question I have to start figuring out is how to effectively us this technology to share my ideas and thoughts with the hope of expanding my communication reach. Do you have any thoughts on how to use blog's and podcasting to enhance team communication?

Do you remember the day's at the school fair that you could make cool artwork by spraying some paint at a spinning disc. Santa brought our son a Spin Art kit for Christmas which I think is really cool. Our budding artist created this artwork over the holiday's.

Last night we had a holiday gathering with the Tuft's crew. It was great getting back together with this group. I have to say that of all the project's and team's that I have worked on, this project and client was one of the best. It is always fun to get back together with this group and reminisce about the good times. It was great to see everybody. Thank's Mike for organizing. ** Note to myself. I need to bring a digital camera along to these gatherings and take pic's for the blog.

Web 2.0 Phenomenon

The past couple of weeks I've been reading more and more about what is being called Web 2.0. My understanding of this new phenomenon is the new wave of Internet applications that where started during the dot com boom (Web 1.0) and what we are seeing today. Yesterday I found the following blog article by AdaptivePath, that gives a high-level view of some of the companies that where part of both the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 waves. So today, I thought I'd outline some of the Web 2.0 applications that I am actively using today.

Blogger
I've been blogging off in on for couple of year's. With a good push this year from Eric Mack, I was able to get my personal blog up and running using this blog publishing software. Recently I took the bold step to register the www.lindysjournal.com URL. I'm committed to blogging in 2006.

Newsgator
In addition to writing my personal blog, I read a number of blogs daily. Some of the blogging categories I have setup within newsgator are: Blogs, Podcasts, Handhelds, Web 2.0, _My Information, Shopping ...Etc). This application allows me to easily keep up with and continually learn about all the late breaking news and technologies that are out there. The following link is an RSS feed of my newsgator clippings folder. You can link to the RSS feed here. The folder contains information that I read about and have found interesting enough to save for future reference.

Wikepedia
Well, you can see from this blog entry that I link to Wikepedia alot. Recently I came across that following Wikepedia Browser site that I feel has some potential.

Flickr
This is one of the first companies that I began to use. This photo sharing site integrates really well with Blogger publishing tool.

My del.icio.us
A fantastic application to pull all those websites together that you continually running across and don't want to loose track off. Instead of keeping them in the browser bookmarks folder, they are easily accessible via the Web. The bonus is that you can share them with anybody.

Odeo
This year I created a couple of Podcasts to communicate to my team in India. Utilizing Web 2.0 technologies I was able to deliver The Monthly Communication to my team. I found that the technology didn't seem to catch on early this year. Last night I came across a 1 year old Web 2.0 company called Odeo. This company leverages the podcasting technologies (ie: audio recording technology), but allows you to get your audio message out there quickly and easily. I've already started to put together short audio clips. Kurt, Von and I put together a quick message to my parents this morning. You can find the audio clip here. This will be a technology that I will use more often in the coming months.

Skype
There are many Instant Messaging and VOIP services out there, but I feel that Skype is a service that will be around for a while. In September, ebay purchased Skype. You can read about the purchase here. What I am waiting for is the capability to have my own Skype In number in India. If you like to reach my on my Skype account you contact me here

Pandora
If you are into music, you really need to check out this site. Based on the Music Genome Project, this internet radio site brings streaming radio to a new level. The site only came online in early fall 2005, and it is a hit with anyone I demonstrate it too.

David Allen Company
For years I have always been on the lookout for software that could be make me more productive. Finding David's Allen GTD System has allowed to effectively integrate these technologies into my "trusted system". Going into 2006, I'm looking to expand my implementation of Getting Things Done (GTD) from the run way activities into the 20,000 to 50,000 foot level activities.

This is a brief summary of the companies and technologies to keep me on top of my game and stay productive. Let me know if you have a Web 2.0 technology that you find invaluable.

The Music Genome Project

A couple weeks ago I posted a blog entry about "Discovering Music" at Pandora. The site is based on the Music Genome Project that begin in January 2005 by a group of musicians and music-loving technologists. I have to say that that I really enjoy the ability to create my own radio stations based on the music that I like. The bonus that you get from this site is that you learn about other artist that play similiar music based on each songs musical attibutes or "genes". What a great way to discover new music and musicians!
