- Remain abreast of and, as appropriate, implement new technology to reduce cost or risk, improve performance and/or increase value.
- Participate in cross-divisional and cross-discipline peer reviews, communities of practice and information exchange forums.
- Conduct regular rig-site visits, inspections and audits during ongoing operations.
- Review and approve cost estimates, particularly probabilistic cost estimates.
- Create a safe workplace to protect both the environment and business assets and reputation.

Education/Experience
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of well-rounded experience in drilling engineering, including at least 10 years of offshore experience. Deepwater and/or Gulf of Mexico experience is a must. Must have a working knowledge of government regulations and permitting requirements. Required to have demonstrated effectiveness and/or training in problem solving in a team based environment.

- Meet with engineers on a regular basis to review capital spend on projects.
- Provide trending and forecasts on projects, provide analysis and offer recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Request journal entries and project budget adjustments if required.
- Establish and coordinate project controls for Management of Change (MOC).
- Ensure project scope changes are properly completed and recorded.
- Review and address outstanding goods receipt/invoice receipt issues.
- Review final cost projection on completion of project.

Education/Experience

Typically requires a technical or accounting diploma and/or 5-10 years of cost control experience.
- Oil and gas industry experience preferred, ideally with drilling operations cost control including exposure to managing material handling, storage and identification of drilling equipment/materials.
- Previous experience with SAP desired.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.
- Must be well organized with ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be a team player with willingness to learn.
- Must have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must possess strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead effectively with minimal supervision and be proactive in achieving team and company goals.

PM (Project Management) duties:
Act as subject matter expert (SME) for IT project initiatives as they relate to G&G applications.
Quality assurance and testing:
Works with developers/programmers to conduct testing prior to application upgrade implementation
Ensures that all items follow the change management process and are entered and tracked through the change management procedures.
Coordinates groups of business personnel for end user testing and manages end user sign-off.
Ensures continuing operational quality by documenting bug fixes and enhancements.

Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years experience in the Petroleum/Oil or similar business.

Strong understanding of technical geoscience data and methods.
Advanced skills in technical geoscience applications.
Advanced skills in geoscience data formats and databases.
