I don't know the exact statistics, but those numbers are huge. China alone has over 2 billion population, and if at least 10% uses internet, here are extra 200,000,000 internet users for you.

Let's suppose that only 10% from this group browse English-speaking sites, and you got another 20,000,000 internet visitors in addition to USA visitors.

Add visitors from other countries, and you'll get the picture.

Having said this, when I mentioned "billions of visitors", I didn't specifically indicated, that those are "visitors per day", did I?

If we'll take the traffic per year, instead of traffic per day, then the numbers could be close to the ones I mentioned...

And finally, though I mentioned that we had alexa ranking close to 50,000 (actually, it's a little higher at the moment, about 79K), I didn't claim that we can get the same ranking for our clients. You won't find such a claim on my post.

All I said that if company claims to specialize on internet marketing and search engine optimization, it should have alexa ranking below 100 K for it's own site.

And yes, alexa doesn't count all the traffic - if you read my post again, you'll notice that I said that alexa is not accurate traffic indicator for many industries, but it is pretty accurate for internet marketing industry.

Hope this answer your questions.
Best regards,
Oleg Ilin
Webtester
http://www.web-feed.com1EzHosthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01559202255114304503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11925767.post-1142747692457260602006-03-19T00:54:00.000-05:002006-03-19T00:54:00.000-05:00Hello:I read your article about Alexa ranking beca...Hello:

I read your article about Alexa ranking because you sent an e-mail to me asking me to check out your blog.

Your blog is cool, informative and ineteresting.

About Alexa ranking: No, you're mistaken. Google, Msn and Yahoo don't get billions of traffics!

There are may be about only 20,000,000 active users of internet in USA!

And that figure varies daily.

Yes, may be Google has indexed about a billion websites, but that doesn't mean they are getting a billion traffics or that a billion people are vsiting their site!

Also, if they claim they get about 2 million searches daily, that doesn't mean they are getting 2 million traffic.

One person alone can conduct hundreds of searches in a day.

I know that from my experience.

I make on the average 50 searches daily!

Also, Alexa doesn't count all traffics, so its traffic reading can be extremely misleading and inavlid.

Finally, just because a company has an Alexa rank of 50,000 or so doesn't mean that it can get all websites the same Alexa rank of traffic. That is faulty logic.

Warmly,
Ikey
http://www.maychic.com/about.htmMaychichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01223850316137992686noreply@blogger.com
