Following the final forum for 2007 the "Rural Bible Forum" has ended. A group of key supporters of the Rural Bible Forum are getting together are in the to form the Rural Bible Network. This is an association of people, from a number of churches and fellowships, who want to keep the forums going.

Forum Changes

There will be a few changes for the Forum this year. Our chairman, Chris Stafferton, resigned from the Latrobe Parish in late February. Richard Thomas is now Chairman of the Forum. The program for this year has been reduced to two days - May and August. Looking forward to seeing you at the first Forum for 2007.

This will be our fourth year of opening God's word together.

The first Rural Bible Forum for 2006, was held on Sat 13 May. Steve Wakeford opened the Bible with us and provided some stimulating and challenging teaching based on Luke 15-17.
Here is some feedback from those who attended.

Good Bible teaching in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We need more, to nourish our souls.
A big thankyou to all the ladies who provided such a beautiful lunch.
Informative and interesting. Steve did a great job with some "touchy" subjects.
Helpful and encouraging.
Thanks to Steve for the practical teaching.
An amazing initiative – a wonderful privilege to sit under the Word in fellowship with others.

Our next Forum will be on 1 July with the Graeme Goldsworthy opening the Bible with us to see what it says about Prayer.

Turning the world upside down

For a local carpenter in an out of the way corner of the Roman Empire Jesus certainly had an enormous impact. On Saturday 27 August Rick Lewers will be opening the early chapters of the book of Acts at the Rural Bible Forum to see just what sort of impact Jesus had. After his death and resurrection Jesus continued to impact the lives of individuals with the work and words his Father gave him. But how is that relevant to us 2000 years later? Between God and the World

The Rural Bible Forum is on again on Saturday 2 July at St Luke's Church, Latrobe. Our Guest speaker is Dr Steve Abbott. Steve's useful book "Everyday Evangelism" is a great help to get on with the job of taking the Gospel of Jesus to others. Steve will be taking us through the big themes of the Old and New Testaments as we look at the place of the people of God in the world. For more information look at the Flyer for RBF on 2 July 2005.

Just before the last forum a brother in Christ came foward with a gift to help reduce the cost of attending the Rural Bible Forum to just $10 per person. This gift helps us to bring some of Australia's top Bible teachers to Rural Tasmania, and to make it even more affordable!

There was plenty of excitement and enthusiasm at our first forum for 2005. (Even if there was still a bit of room with over 50, an increase of over 10% in attendance.)

David Jones (Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Hobart) opened Matthew 13 with us and talked about the kingdom parables of Jesus. He looked at how God's kingdom comes - through the proclamation of God's word; how God's kingdom grows and the value of God's kingdom.

Come to the Rural Bible Forum on 14 May and hear David Jones answer the question. David will go further than that and look at some key parables that Jesus used. They are recorded for us in chapter 13 of Matthew's Gospel.

Rural Bible Forum - back again in 2005

The Rural Bible Forum is back in 2005. If you came to the first Rural Bible Forum in September last year, I hope your looking forward to this year's offerings! We have arranged 3 faithful speakers to open the Scriptures with us in the rural town of Latrobe.

On 14 May we are glad to have David Jones (from Cornerstone Church in Hobart) opening the parables of Jesus with us. Later in the year (2 July) we have Steve Abbott looking at the local church as a "go-between" community in our local communities, and (27 August) Rick Lewers opening the first 8 chapters of the Acts – turning the world upside down.

The format for the Forum has been changed and there will be 3 sessions during the afternoon, with discussion groups. Afternoon tea and a Soup supper will be provided. The cost of the Rural Bible Forum has been reduced, and will now cost only $20.
