The weather is supposed to be perfect, we have a beautiful spot picked out at the park, the shopping is done and everyone is signed up to bring food, and we have ten families coming. I'm sure it's going to be a great day.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-32563576212256237542008-05-25T09:32:00.004-04:002008-05-25T09:41:34.154-04:00Rain, rain, go away!Happy Memorial Day weekend. The rain in NEPA has finally stopped and it looks like summer weather is here. We haven't been back to the park in over a month for our Stroller Strides workout and both moms and kids are really looking forward to it. I know I am!!

Just one more week of school and then my DD will be with us for the summer. She's pretty good in the stroller and hopefully we'll be at the park a lot, because that's always more fun than sitting in the stroller in the gym for an hour.

Family Fun Day is in one week. It's going to be fun to meet the hubbies and all get together for good food and games.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-60087389597230283252008-04-18T18:56:00.002-04:002008-04-18T18:58:57.273-04:00South Abington ParkWe had class today at our new "permanent" outdoor location - South Abington Park in Clarks Summit. It was awesome! Today the weather was gorgeous and it was so amazing to be working out outdoors. The kiddos were all so great, too. I hope we have a lot of nice weather this spring and summer so we can be outside all of the time.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-83531224075596590372008-04-15T08:02:00.002-04:002008-04-15T08:04:39.526-04:00It feels so good to eat healthy!I woke up this morning feeling so good - both from eating so well yesterday and also feeling great about our Stroller Strides family and how supportive and wonderful all of our moms are for getting together and committing to getting healthier. I'm so proud of everyone for making this committment.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-1344203691675346922008-04-14T19:13:00.002-04:002008-04-14T19:18:30.675-04:00Weight Loss ChallengeWe started our first Stroller Strides Scranton Weight Loss Challenge today. I'm so pleased that almost all of our members are taking the challenge. We are measuring pounds lost and inches lost - everyone got weighed and measured today and it was relatively painless. We're going to have bi-weekly emails with tips and hints and everyone is going to contribute healthy recipes. I know this is going to work so well for everyone because we are going to have great support for each other and also weight loss will be announced each week - what a great motivator! No one wants to be the one that gained weight. I hope we all learn more about a healthy lifestyle and change our eating habits and our relationship with food forever!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-65753956608222607132008-03-25T21:57:00.002-04:002008-03-25T22:01:09.345-04:00Time FliesIt's been over a month since I've posted - time flies! We are so busy at Stroller Strides - having our fitness classes, welcoming new members, and our social calendar has been so full. Tonight was Moms Night Out at Kyoto for Sushi and we had such fun. Our big event coming up is March for Babies - we're recruiting team members, raising funds, planning a fund raiser at TGI Fridays, getting ready to lead the warm up - I hope we can raise so much $$ for March of Dimes, and also have fun, too!!! Everyone join us at Nay Aug Park on April 26th!!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-25782310315594984572008-02-21T12:33:00.003-05:002008-02-21T12:36:57.333-05:00On TV Again!!I was just watching the news at noon and we were on TV again!! I can't believe it, we were the last clip before the end of the news. I guess we were also on at 6 and 7 last night, and maybe 11. I thought we were only going to be on Healthwatch16, but I guess they picked it up as a general news story, as well. How amazing is that!!! I'm so excited - I hope a lot of moms saw the story and want to find out more about our amazing program.

We all got together this morning for a mall walk - so much fun! There were 7 of us and we walked for 1/2 hour. It was great to get together outside of class and after our walk, we got some coffee and sat together and chatted. We will definitely do it again.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-55480049409191863062008-02-20T22:51:00.003-05:002008-02-20T22:55:55.781-05:00WNEP Healthwatch16We were on the news today! Jill Garrett from WNEP TV's Healthwatch16 taped some of our workout on Monday and did some interviews with two of our moms, and we were on the news tonight at 5:25! The story was great and we were so happy with the coverage. Two new moms that saw us on TV have already been in contact for more info. It's so awesome to get help from local media to spread the news and let people know about Stroller Strides. I have great hopes for a lot of growth this spring!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-861949013939051232008-01-18T13:26:00.000-05:002008-01-18T13:31:57.973-05:00New YearHappy New Year! The holidays were hectic and wonderful and the new year has been peaceful so far. We have so many great activities coming up at Stroller Strides. Each month we will have a speciality class to celebrate the current holiday or season and take a break from our regular format. We had our first moms night out this week and it was a lot of fun. We're going to plan a moms night out at least once a month. We have some community events coming up - Bowl for Kids Sake with Big Brothers Big Sisters in March and our largest community event, March of Dimes March for Babies in April. I hope we get a lot of people out for that, to help us raise a lot of money and join us for the walk and the other activities.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-80967930314292758742007-12-11T22:20:00.001-05:002007-12-11T22:23:05.212-05:00Adopt-A-FamilyI feel very good about today - all of us from Stroller Strides bought diapers and clothes and toys to donate to a family in need for Christmas. Today we got together to wrap the gifts and share some holiday spirit. It was a very good time and we all felt good about all the gifts we donated. I can't wait until DD is old enough to learn about giving to others and the spirit of Christmas.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-62626297007452922382007-11-16T16:55:00.000-05:002007-11-16T17:02:08.152-05:00A very good day...Happy Friday. We had a new mom at class today, one I met a Baby Fest last Saturday. It was nice to have a new face in addition to all of the beautiful faces we see all the time! She enjoyed the class and is going to sign up to join us - woo hoo. We also have a site on meetup.com now. Hopefully that will attract new people and let them know about Stroller Strides. The weather was crazy today, first sunny, then snowing, then sunny, then snowing. Winter is coming :-( And big news from a close friend, she's three months pregnant with her second baby and she was pretty much told she couldn't have any more - what an awesome surprise!!! Life can be good!!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-39566219482305953182007-11-13T11:04:00.000-05:002007-11-13T11:11:50.134-05:00Federal HolidayFour of us showed up yesterday to have our Monday morning workout and the Center was closed - Veteran's Day. Apparently the Center is closed for all Federal Holidays - no mail = no class. Who knew? I feel bad for the moms that came out and wasted your time, I wish I had known last week. Well, now we know. I already checked for 2008 and it looks like we might only have to cancel classes two times, once in Jan and once in Feb. When the center is closed in May, July, Sept, and Oct we should be able to have our workout outside, if the weather cooperates. Luckily, Thanksgiving and Christmas are on a Thurs and Tues this year, and a Thurs, Thurs next year (thank you leap year for skipping over Wednesday!). Maybe by then we will have class 5 days a week and then cancelling one day won't be so bad.

On a happier note, Baby Fest went well and hopefully we'll see 4-5 new moms come check out our class.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-76388687094895689252007-11-10T09:10:00.001-05:002007-11-10T09:12:33.111-05:00Snow!I'm getting ready to go to Baby Fest, and I'm excited. I hope to meet lots of moms and tell them all about Stroller Strides.

It's snowing! It has been all morning and it's coming down pretty good. The snow isn't sticking to the ground or the driveway, but the deck and the roofs are covered. My DD wants to go out and play! We can't today, but we will soon. I hope she's not disappointed when she finds out that snow is cold and wet!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-58850527217888675612007-11-09T13:24:00.000-05:002007-11-09T13:27:16.004-05:00Baby FestGreat class today, we burned mega calories with our jump rope/squat thrust combo move. And, we tried some new ab work with the bands - very effective.

Don't forget to stop by Baby Fest at Babies R Us tomorrow and see all the fun ideas for Baby's First Holiday. It's from 11-3 in Wilkes-Barre.Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188548011697917610.post-90375328255946392172007-11-09T07:53:00.000-05:002007-11-09T07:57:11.196-05:00Welcome to our Blog! Thanks for visiting the new blog for Stroller Strides of Scranton, PA. Stroller Strides is such a fabulous program... you come to class, meet other great moms, work out, get fit (maybe even more fit than you were before you got pregnant), bond with your baby, teach your children about healthy living right from the start, exchange ideas, make friends, participate in community service events, the list goes on an on. Every class is different and fun, and a serious workout. I wish this was in the area when my 3-yr-old was first born. Better late than never!Stroller Strides of Scrantonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14599284190568612059noreply@blogger.com
