Teaming up with Art Battles and DJ Teenwolf, the event became more than just a typical show for a largely unknown artist.<br /><br />With a draw of over 500 people at the brand new venue (which featured Chuck Close artwork throughout the venue), 11 live artists painted backdrops while AMIT and DJ Teenwolf performed. With Magic Hat providing cheap and great beer, the night was definitely one to remember!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/P9260041-776376.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/P9260041-776123.JPG" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/amit-aftermath-776414.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/amit-aftermath-776398.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1162271310724307984-4167655732950865317?l=www.themusebox.net%2Fsite%2Fnews%2Fnews.php'/></div>Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1162271310724307984.post-26324732473866465372008-10-01T06:44:00.000-07:002008-10-01T06:54:38.929-07:00Samuel Markus Featured on iTunes!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/sam-markus-on-itunes-722792.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://www.themusebox.net/site/news/uploaded_images/sam-markus-on-itunes-722732.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />The new album by Samuel Markus, entitled "New Dawn" is featured on iTunes this week! Canada. This new, six-episode original series, which was Music Supervised and Booked by The MuseBox, spotlights an eclectic group of singers and musicians as they entertain audiences at Toronto’s Berkeley Church. Produced in association with Bravo!, the beautifully shot, weekly series features performances by indie-rock father-son duo Bill and Joel Plaskett (Sept. 10); alt-country artist Jon Langford (Sept. 17); pop singer Sarah Slean (Sept. 24); neo-southern country-gothic artist Jim White (Oct. 1); acoustic guitar virtuoso Kaki King (Oct. 8); and singer-songwriter Pete Elkas (Oct. 15).<br /> <br />"The Berkeley Sessions' production was an exciting project to be involved with," states The MuseBox's Talent Booker Dan Efram. "All of the artists were first choices for us - from the beautiful chaos of Jon Langford's set with a Welsh men's choir, Bill and Joel Plaskett's charming story-telling and Jim White's alt-noir sound, each Berkeley Session was a treat for the audience. That energy translates to the TV screen in superb fashion."<br /><br />Download high-res photos from The Berkeley Sessions at www.ctvmedia.ca/bravo. <br /> <br />Episode 1: Canadian indie-rocker Joel Plaskett performs, alongside his father Bill, the acoustic versions of his hits Nowhere With You and Happen Now.<br />Episode 2: Jon Langford, founder of the punk band The Mekons, wows the Berkeley Church audience with his unique brand of Brit-style alt-country. Langford is also joined by members of Toronto's The Sadies and the Burlington Male Welsh Choir.<br />Episode 3: Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah Slean and her expert trio perform old favorites and selections from her latest release The Baroness.<br />Episode 4: Southern songwriter and poet Jim White runs through an evocative set of his lyrically challenging, yet melodically appealing songs.<br />Episode 5: No mere strummer, American guitarist Kaki King uses every part of her instrument to create an astonishing range of sounds and rhythms.<br />Episode 6: Canadian singer-songwriter Pete Elkas, former member of the alternative rock band Local Rabbits, performs several of his haunting self-penned songs in his signature falsetto.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1162271310724307984-7667832044264924295?l=www.themusebox.net%2Fsite%2Fnews%2Fnews.php'/></div>Danhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10531757975199135297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1162271310724307984.post-25371353554749222242008-08-28T09:44:00.000-07:002008-08-28T13:10:42.504-07:00THE TWO KOREAS ANTHEM ON CBC HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA, CHECK IT OUT!!<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.filemobile.com/static/widgets/audioplayer2/hnic_audioplayer.swf" width="495" height="380" allowScriptAccess="always"><br /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.filemobile.com/static/widgets/audioplayer2/hnic_audioplayer.swf" /><br /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><br /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <br /> <param name="FlashVars" value="wid=293&mid=317539" /><br /> <param name="menu" value="false" /><br /> <embed src="http://www.filemobile.com/static/widgets/audioplayer2/hnic_audioplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="320" height="240" flashvars="wid=293&mid=317539&sessionToken=26fcd7b91467f02a3c9c98cb8bf2bd93"/></embed><br /></object><br><br />The Two Koreas has entered into the CBC Hockey Night in Canada Anthem Challenge. Needless to say, it was a blast and the band totally killed it. Not only did they blow away the studio audience (and the country) with the tune "Can You Feel It?", they took an encore to perform the Colbert-inspired song "Stephen, Stephen" with none other than Colbert himself picking up the tambourine and joining in on the action. It was a pretty proud moment for all of us here at The MuseBox, and we can't wait for the band's next appearance. To check out The Apples in stereo performing "Can You Feel It?", look no further than here:<br /><br /><embed FlashVars='videoId=178718' src='http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/video_player/view/default/swf.jhtml' quality='high' bgcolor='#cccccc' width='332' height='316' name='comedy_central_player' align='middle' allowScriptAccess='always' allownetworking='external' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer'></embed><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1162271310724307984-6252379668836469180?l=www.themusebox.net%2Fsite%2Fnews%2Fnews.php'/></div>The Hype Kingnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1162271310724307984.post-4830030818536869032008-07-30T15:23:00.000-07:002008-08-24T10:11:15.945-07:00"The Two Koreas" are nominated for XM the Verge Music Awards!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.themusebox.net/news/uploaded_images/Two-Koreas-press-784441.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://www.themusebox.net/news/uploaded_images/Two-Koreas-press-784344.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />Our friends "The Two Koreas" are nominated for the Best Verge Artist!! This year, The Musebox was proud to promote and be a part of After the Jump Fest 2008.<br /><br />This year's festival turned out to be tremendous success, an amazing day filled with music, free ice cream, and fun in the sun. Referred to by <span style="font-weight: bold;">Brooklyn Radio</span> as a “proverbial spice cabinet,” After the Jump Fest 2008, the effort 20 New York City music bloggers to help new bands gain exposure, featured a multitude of bands at their best. Among the performers were <span style="font-weight: bold;">Health, Titus Andronicus</span>, and The Musebox’s own <span style="font-weight: bold;">Bryan Scary &amp; the Shredding Tears</span>.<br /><br />After the Jump Fest 2008 was able to raise more than $3,000 for Donors Choose and Education Through Music, charities that provide New York City schools with funding and programming.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:78%;"><a href="http://www.spinmagazine.com/articles/after-jump-fest-invades-brooklyn">Spin Magazine</a><br />"After the Jump Fest Invades Brooklyn: Pela, the Forms, Ponytail, and many more hit the streets on summer's boiling solstice and stir a welcomed commotion."<br /><br /><a href="http://brooklynradio.net/article.aspx?Id=996">Brooklyn Radio</a><br />"At the end of the night, I felt like I had seen 16 different shows in one day, but somehow they all possessed a certain cohesion that I can't explain.
