Of First YearI'm back home after my end semester exams for a 3 month long semester break. With the end of the second semester, I bid farewell to all the useless subjects first year IT student have to study in Engineering colleges. It is quite amusing that at the end of my first year all I've been taught related to IT is basics of C programming. Now since I'm back home, you can expect some posts soon. I'll be busy for the next few days migrating my blog to self-hosted wordpress.I've had enough of all the restrictions blogger offers. Blogger is months behind Wordpress in terms of developments and features. Its time to shift to a superior open-source blogging platform that offers you full freedom.

NamanBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05460593934633514821noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1153901853463836151.post-18939248775090059842009-04-12T17:00:00.004+05:302009-04-23T12:21:39.240+05:30Download IIT JEE 2009 SolutionsIIT JEE 2009 was conducted today. Two years of preparation of students across the country was tested in 6 hours that will decide their fate. You need a guide like Web Hosting Choice to help you find the perfect host for your website.

There are many websites like web hosting choice, but what makes it better than other such websites is the detail of information provided. The site even has a Learning Center to help those with little or no knowledge of Web Hosting and related stuff. The learning center also has a nice article on Web Hosting Scams and how to avoid being cheated. It is also very customizable. It can be customized to the extent that it can be used as a CMS.I've heard of a few Wordpress cms Themes. WP Remix is the only Wordpress CMS theme that offers WYSIWYG page template editing. You can create and edit pages in a visual editor just like in a CMS. You can chose from over 50 pre-structured page templates that cover almost all layout possibilities. The WP Remix theme is widget ready and SEO ready. You won't need to edit the code a bit. You can check out all the features on the website. WP Remix on Wordpress is a good alternative to using a CMS.

This Post is Sponsored By WP Remix

NamanBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05460593934633514821noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1153901853463836151.post-7473693167788711852009-04-09T13:47:00.003+05:302009-04-09T15:00:57.001+05:30Web Hosting GeeksFinding the right web host for your site can be a tedious job to do. Transit VansThere are loads of options available to someone who wants to buy a commercial van. Sometimes it becomes difficult to select the right one. I'll make this job a bit simpler by suggesting a multi-award winning commercial van. I'm sure everyone would have heard of Ford Transit Commercial Vans. Transit is almost like a synonym for van. Transit is the perfect choice for a commercial van.

The Ford Transit has a great design that gives it a formal look. The simple and elegant design conveys a professional attitude. Inside, it is spacious and comfortable which makes driving it a pleasure. Transit definitely mixes work and fun. Transit may look like a fancy, delicate van from the outside but its engines and transmission have been designed to withstand extreme operating conditions.

Warranty and Servicing are very important factors while selecting any brand and product. Ford is known for its good customer service and support. The Ford Transit comes with a 3 years, 100,000 miles warranty and servicing for 12 months or 15,000 miles. The Ford Transit is thus a must buy. If you are looking to buy a commercial van, whether used or new, I suggest you to check out the Ford Transit.

This Post is Sponsored By Foray Motor Group<div USB ADSL Modem ProblemI recently installed OpenSUSE 11.1 on my PC.When I installed it,I faced just one problem that bothered me a bit.OpenSUSE was not detecting my ADSL modem connected via USB.I searched for a solution to this problem.Ankur also searched for a solution but most of them said-"Hard luck, get Ethernet".My PC does not have an Ethernet card so connecting the modem through Ethernet was not a possibility.I also did not have time to buy an Ethernet card.I eventually did find a solution to the problem.Read on.

The Solution to the Problem
I kept trying different things to solve this problem. There are 2 types of network managers in openSUSE.You can either use the GNOME Network Manager or you could use the YaST network manager.I tried using the GNOME network manager first.I was unsuccessful in connecting to the Internet using the GNOME network manager. Then I used the YaST Network manager.I first set the DNS in the 'Hostname/DNS' tab and then set the default gateway in the 'Routing' tab. Then I switched to the overview tab and set all the IP address and Subnet preferences. Also set the device to automatically start on cable connection.Basically,I did not do anything special but I just decided to share my experience to help out other people facing the same problem.

If you too are facing the same problem, try doing what I did and leave a comment to tell me if it works or not.
<img width='1' 11.1I've been using Linux for about 2 years and all I had used properly was Ubuntu.A few months ago,I felt like I needed some change and wanted to try something new. This feeling was also motivated by a couple of buggy Ubuntu releases.Ankur suggested me to wait for openSUSE 11.1 which was scheduled to be released on 18th December 2008.After my Majors(in December),I decided to try out openSUSE 11.1.

So I started my quest to get an openSUSE CD/DVD.I checked out various tech-magazine DVDs but none of then had openSUSE11.1.I was not in the mood to download the CD so I decided to buy a DVD.This decision was also motivated by the huge repositories availiable on the DVD.Thus,I ordered a openSUSE 11.1 DVD from Linux Bazar.I got the DVD the very next morning but it turned out to be an openSUSE 11.0 DVD.I spoke to the Linux Bazar guys about this and they offered to send me a replacement DVD in a few days. They took 2 to 3 days to download the openSUSE 11.1 DVD.By the time I received the openSUSE 11.1 DVD I had just 2 days of my semester break left.

The installation was a bit slow as compared to Ubuntu but considering the number of packages the installer was installing,it was pretty fast. The openSUSE installer-YaST is very good and has a user friendly interface.YaST is also a system management application which is used by openSUSE as a Control Center.I decided to install openSUSE with GNOME as the desktop environment. The installation was hassle-free and I didn't face any problems in installation.I installed all the essential stuff, media codecs etc and just got a feel of openSUSE before leaving for Bhopal.

openSUSE gives equal importance to GNOME and KDE.This is something that lacks in Ubuntu.Ubuntu variants in other desktop environments like Kubuntu and Xubuntu are just KDE or Xfce and nothing more than that. The GNOME version of openSUSE looks like KDE because it has a single panel and a menu that looks similar to the KDE4 menu.openSUSE has given me an opportunity to use rpm package manager.Using openSUSE 11.1 has been a good experience so far.Somehow it gives me a better feel of Linux.I would therefore say that it is not suitable for absolute noobs.People who know their way around Ubuntu should definitely try out openSUSE 11.1 once.
<img width='1' height='1'
