I bet you could be all that, too. Edward is cold (who'd want to snuggle up to that?!) and obsessed and too serious much of the time. Plus, he dresses like a pretty-boy. Its the chemical thing between Bella and Edward. I loved all the books, and the last one put everything in order. It seemed to be right.cazmomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16562878966902658675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-31398243243043316322008-09-18T00:58:00.000-07:002008-09-18T00:58:00.000-07:00Nothing, I am team Jacob!Nothing, I am team Jacob!allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09434480073987927568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-4174659528768109992008-09-11T23:03:00.000-07:002008-09-11T23:03:00.000-07:00Scotty,{this is Brooke} this post makes me laugh s...Scotty,{this is Brooke} this post makes me laugh so hard bc david ended up reading the books so he could figure out what I was talking about all the time with my girlfriends. He was just as confused as you seem to be.

I think I liked it so much bc of those feelings of first falling madly in love. It's been 14 years since I felt that and it was fun to relive it through the characters, ya know, bring it all back - that initial heart pounding, chemical, all-consuming feeling. It made me remember feeling that way for David bc it's such a different kind of love now. More mature. {Plus, she writes some really good adventure/ suspense parts} :)

does this all make any sense? Anyway, that's just my opinion...good luck on your quest!Red Seaglasshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15825198815404105900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-77262530177470089482008-08-27T16:08:00.000-07:002008-08-27T16:08:00.000-07:00I'm on chapter 11 and I'm setting off some serious...I'm on chapter 11 and I'm setting off some serious "chemicals"! There is a place in our brain that makes the 'first love, first kiss' chemicals and this book brings it all back. you know those dreams where you fall in love for the first time? kiss someone for the first time and you wake up and you're like; oh man that was awesome. and you have to realize that real life is even better than that even though the feeling is so awesome. well, these books make that part of your brain turn on again (for some of us it's been awhile since first kiss/love). so you are living this first love/kiss thing through bella (as annoyingly 16 as she is sometimes) and your body begins to become totally addicted to it and you subconciously want to get it more so you read more and are totally freaked out about it long after the books are done; making music lists that go with the storyline, etc.
abe read the books just to see what the hooplah was about. he says they were good but should be condenced into one. he said all they would have to do to condence is take out all the times bella said something about his chiseled face and chest and amber/black eyes.
and it's really not far to compare any man to a man who is over 100 years old and has had over 100 years to figure out what love is all about and then act perfectly (to some) to get that love perfect.
so us leishman girls can be pretty deep, huh?Noellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12270526703912355952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-54770631880952116562008-08-25T15:01:00.000-07:002008-08-25T15:01:00.000-07:00Team Jacob?! Just saying/thinking the name - Edward - makes me breath funny. Ha ha I'm making myself laugh cause it's so silly to feel that way about a "character." The thing about Edward is as others have said is that his every being revolves around Bella. Everything. That is what makes a girl go crazy about him! Girls secretly wish their companion completely worshipped the ground they walked on. Everything he does is for her. He adores her with every ounce of his vampire rockin' body! Plus he's super hot and has super powers!

I have come to the sad realization that no mortal man can be an Edward for me. Real men have jobs, can't be with you 24 hrs a day (but really, you would get sick of each other if that was the case!), don't have super powers, and aren't magically millionaires as Edward is in the book. This is a vampire fantasy. A FANTASY.

While I was reading the books I kept telling Jimmy to "hold me like a vampire!" and he would just laugh at me. Sucked. That brought me back to reality really quick! Jimmy's no Edward but I'll take the second best thing. :)Chantalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03890663504788997071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-47835798835727880792008-08-25T14:34:00.000-07:002008-08-25T14:34:00.000-07:00Scott, I can speak with some male authority on thi...Scott, I can speak with some male authority on this subject because I just finished Twilight last night (and I went to a Breaking Dawn midnight release party at Barnes and Noble with Aubrey. Yes.)

Edward is pretty lame in my opinion. He only likes Bella because he can't read her mind and he wants to suck her blood so bad. And Bella only likes Edward because of his beautiful, perfect face, chiseled body, and perfect voice. Seriously, every time he's in a scene all Bella narrates about is how beautiful he is. Other than that he's kind of annoying and cocky and rude and brooding. Your typical vampire.

Aubrey is on team Jacob, like other commenters above, though I won't learn much more about him because he shows up more in later books. I'm done with Stephenie Meyer. Still, I think Aubrey loves me more for having read the book (she bought me my own copy and wrote my name in the inside cover!).

It's nice to see your growing family. We've got four now too! Our 4th son is 14 months now.Sethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05368458446701214851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-63400895966669223562008-08-24T22:26:00.000-07:002008-08-24T22:26:00.000-07:00I'm on team Jacob (the werewolf) as well. So if you want to be like the vampire you should probably just stop caring about yourself and focus every ounce of your life/thoughts/actions on your wife and never really take the time to be interesting. I guess some girls like that.Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15652436269760093303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-20205741939563008092008-08-21T22:56:00.000-07:002008-08-21T22:56:00.000-07:00Scott, you are a true man for even asking this que...Scott, you are a true man for even asking this question. Most men just shrug it off, but you want to KNOW.

Personally, I hate the vampire dude because he's stalker-ish. He does not give her any space. The werewolf, on the other hand, is awesome. He tells her how much her loves her, will do anything for her, and doesn't really care if she loves him back, just considers it a privilege to be around her. But that's just me. I guess most girls like the stalker-never leaves her alone/vampire thing.Paigehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10258948792893173721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-23025187329978171062008-08-21T21:35:00.000-07:002008-08-21T21:35:00.000-07:00"Anticipation"....exactly. Remember we are talkin..."Anticipation"....exactly. Remember we are talking about a book here. Stephanie Meyer has this talent of keeping the reader full of anticipation about what is going to happen next. Will Edward show his true feelings? Will Bella fall for it? It's definitely a love story. And Bella is constantly self-deprecating, keeping it real. You relate to her, even though she's like 17. We remember being there. And to be honest, I speak for myself when I say I wish I could do it over with some of Bella's independent attitude.
Please remember this is just me talking here. Others may (and probably do) have a completely different point of view. I am no literary. I read like a book per year.Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17310520071124850424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-46963915839184308762008-08-21T21:07:00.000-07:002008-08-21T21:07:00.000-07:00"but gives her the space that she needs in order t..."but gives her the space that she needs in order to miss him"
Thanks Teres, I knew you could shed some light. I'm only on Chapter 5 in the first book on my Ipod. But I do have to say that I get bummed when it's time to turn the the thing off and come back to reality.
Here's my opinion about Edward in the short time that I have known him....
He has this incredible self control when it comes to showing his affection for Bella. He wants her terribly, and the reader knows this, but he's never obvious about it (like Mike the "puppy dog"). He's always there when she "needs" him (like saving her from being crushed by a car, or getting her out of biology class), but gives her the space that she needs in order to miss him. Does that make sense? He's alouf, but interested, and interesting. I still have a lot to read and learn about the "Edward /Bella saga", but that's MHO.
I'm sure Chantal would have an even better perspective.Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17310520071124850424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11390085.post-42165347627664928162008-08-21T14:03:00.000-07:002008-08-21T14:03:00.000-07:00Scott- you make me sound like a crazed fan.
