scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='My exciting life'/>
Conanincidences.

I’m not a great believer in fate, I don’t believe for one moment that are lives are pre-destined and that we all have some great plan laid out for us.
However, I do think strange co-incidences should not be ignored, even if you have no idea what you’re supposed to do about them. As you can guess, what follows is a little strange co-incidence that happened to me.

Whilst on holiday I needed to get a book to read. I’d whipped through all the ones I brought with me and wanted to get something else. I had a list of authors but Waterstones in Edinburgh was not very forthcoming so I was just sort of browsing. Whilst looking at the Horror section, I came across a book of short stories by Robert E Howard, the name didn’t click at first but reading the back of the book I noticed was the author of all the Conan stories. This was a book of weird, supernatural tales which I always enjoy reading, so I picked it up (it was 2.99. Two Ninety Nine. Brilliant! ).

I buzzed through those quickly and realised again, that I would need something else to read. We were holidaying in Northumberland, and with a bit persuasion and the promise of a Cream Tea, I persuaded The Wife that it would be nice to visit Barter Books in Alnick, Europe’s biggest second hand book shop (according to them).
I had my list of authors, but again I was having no luck, so I went for a different tactic. I had a look in the Fantasy section for Conan novels, and bingo. They had quite a few and they were all reasonably priced so I bought about five or six and have been reading them ever since. They're great, really good pulpy sword and sorcery novels full of heaving bosoms, supernatural gods and lots of hitting things with swords.

Last night I was doing a bit of channel hopping and lo and behold, the first Conan movie was on. I didn’t know it was on and I have seen it before, but due to the circumstances (being a bit more involved with the Conan world) I thought I would watch it. It’s alright but to be honest, my interest was waning a little so I checked my email. Sitting in my inbox was a Facebook invitation from an old school friend, Tim Parsons (who seems to be going by the name of Mike now…I need to ask him about that). I got on well with Tim so I replied to his message and went and had a look at his profile. He’s living abroad now, in the US I think ( I need to ask him about that), and he works for software company do FX for video games. He seems to have done a few, recently though, he’s done some work on the soon to be released Conan game…
It seems Robert E Howard is trying to tell me something…maybe I should buy a loin cloth…

The Secret Rules of Life; Discovered!

Redheads travel in packs. Two glorious weeks spent in Northumberland, about five minutes away from the Scottish border. I'd like to say I feel refreshed and renewed from the whole experienced, filled with vigour. I just feel knackered.
I haven't done much drawing recently though, I've sketched a few things here and there, but nothing really. What I have done is a ton of writing.
I've always written and enjoyed using words. If you've read this blog you might not get a sense of that, sometimes my posts can ramble on a bit about nothing, but I actually really enjoy just telling stories and making things up. That was always the most exciting bits about doing comics really, the drawing could sometimes be a chore, but I loved putting together plot elements and working out how they all fitted together.
I think I'll concentrate on writing for a bit and see how things go. You all know that I can't stick to anything for very long, but we'll see.
I'm also writing sketches and things for a sketch comedy podcast me and two friends are starting, its called Jamhammer and I think it's going to be good. I'll let you know when the first episode is up. I'm quite excited about it actually.
There's a number of other things in the works ( as always) but I'll save them for future posts.

Cheers.

By Gum!!!

Well, cover me with a fine mist and call me Sharon, I've only gone and updated me website, what what. Bees start appearing and at the moment swathes of bluebells blanket the forests. Lovely. Who says I'm not romantic.
There's something quite melancholic about the Bluebell. They appear in darkened woods for the briefest of time and completely change the way it looks. Then they've gone.
I think I missed them last year, all but little clumps of them by the side of the road as we drove by, brief flashes of purple. I've got a load of drawings to put together in a little book, I'm drawing and sketching more and my creativety seems to be on the up.
I'm running my entire life now, through Moleskine notebooks. I've got one for notes and ideas, one for sketches, and one for lists and to do's and tasks and all that. I use a pencil, pens are a bit to fancy for me now.
To be honest though I do need one , really, so I might get a laptop, but it might be nice not to rely on it so much.
