I recently watched Quintosole & was truly impressed. I found the cinematography of the prison grounds to be quite beautiful. It was extremely moving to see how this soccer league gave these men back a little of themselves, another identity, beyond "inmate." This film has allowed them to tell a part of their story, to let us know what it is like on the inside. I particularly liked Mario, the goalie, and his touching poetry. I highly recommend this film to anyone.

The director here, is very bright.
He’s really trying to help inmates.
I mean he gives them a chance.
Having the chance to be here and play, I already told you, I think positively.
I don’t think negatively. I’ve been in prisons just like this, all day long, locked up and I’d get really pissed off.
I couldn’t wait to…I’d say “Fuck, I’ve got to get out and destroy everything”.

I get here at nine, call up and tell them to send me the inmates for…the soccer field, which takes the place of their two hours of normal free time outside. Instead of going for a walk, they come to the field.

"I’m writing a book.
It’s a book kind of like a journey because it’s the story about an inmate that’s been locked up for many years.
I want to give my contribution to trying to understand this world…inside prison.
When you start doing time, everyone has hope: hope of getting out, hope of being acquitted.
When it becomes final you start this inner journey and well, this world is a bit crazy.
I think that there comes a time… a limit to how much a man…can stand being in prison.
I always say that we’re kind of like faucets that after a long time are full of build up. Because we block up too, and so soccer kind of cleaned out this faucet. It’s taken all that away and now it’s obvious that it’s helped us tremendously."

What does Creative Commons License mean?

Clicking on the link in the right-hand column you can download Quintosole for free, watch it and even burn it on a cd (490 MB) or dvd, or give it to a friend, but you can't use it for commerical purposes. For further information, don't hesitate to write me.

Some info for downloading:
1) download and install the Divx player if you don't already have it (click Divx link on the right)
2) right-click on "download the documentary" and on your menu choose the appropriate box to save it on your hard drive.
3) A box will pop up that asks you where you want to save it, you can also put it on your desktop
4) Once the download is finished (with ADSL media connection it takes about an hour) click twice on the video icon or open it using Windows Media player, Quicktime player or the Divx player.
