1st time holding a sparkler....after it went out he dropped it and went to pick it up and guess what...he grabbed the wrong end and burnt his pinky finger....

Went to chic fil A today and they got hats...Jaron loved it....he calls it "eat more chicken" not chic fil a. "Mommy I want to go to eat more chicken"....I said are you gonna eat some chicken and he said NO.

They just like to play on the play ground...

Happy 4th Birthday

Well my baby is 4 years old....He's not little anymore. He does not want me to call him my baby anymore. He has been going to pre-K 1 day a week to hold a spot for the school year. He will start in August full time. This was a big step for him because he doesn't eat like normal children. He holds everything in his mouth and takes one hour to eat a sandwich (just an example) He has a very sensitive gag reflex and because he puked so much as a baby eating is not a fun experience for him. He didn't even eat one bite of birthday cake. It brings him to tears if we try to get him to taste anything new. So I said all that to say this. He ate PIZZA at school yesterday. I almost cried when the teacher told me. I had to get a doctors note stating he has oral aversions so he could bring his own lunch. So I sent a banana for breakfast ( he eats them every day at home) and he ate all of it and they offered him so fruit cocktail and he ate it!!! He's never even tasted fruit cocktail. I am amazed. I think it's because he's sitting at a table with all the other kids eating and he just did it! Then for lunch I sent poptarts but she offered him pizza like the other children and he ate it, WITH HIS HANDS! He hates getting his hands sticky or messy. I can't believe he ate it. PRAISE THE LORD! So next Tuesday when he goes I will send his food but I won't tell him it's there and I told her to offer him what everyone else is eating and see what he does. I was so nervous about sending him and praying he wouldn't loose weight. But he proved me wrong. He is growing up and hopefully gonna start eating "normal" very soon.

I took the boys to Monkey Joes for his birthday. THEY LOVED IT! I got a few pictures on my cell phone so they aren't great but I forgot my camera.

1st day at Pre-K

Jaron went to Pre-K last Tuesday for the first time ever. The teacher said he did Excellent! She said she never would have guessed that he'd never been before. He behaved well and she also said she had no problem understanding his speech. THANK GOD. We are done with that. He loved it! He felt so big and proud of himself. It was really precious.

The sun is too bright....we covered them in sunblock so no one got burned but we forgot hats or sunglasses.

He loved the pool...not scared at all...just got right in. Since we have been home. Jaron wears his Mickey hat almost every day and he asks me every day if we can go to Disney or can we go to the condo. When we walked in the door to the condo the first night, he said "this is AMAZING" His vocabulary has expanded so much and he is articulating his words so much more. Everyone that talks to him tells me how well they can understand him.

Jaron LOVED Disney world. It was hot and a lot of walking but he did not want to come home. He wants to go back right now. I told him we MIGHT go back in a few years. Maybe when Jonah can appreciate it and they can handle the heat a little better. It was fun and we went to the beach too gotta develop pictures of that. I'll post more later.

HOLY COW he can touch his nose with his tongue!!!

Jaron has always been a lover of music and he discovered Daddy's MP3 player a couple of weeks ago and loves it! He walks around the house listening to all our gospel music we downloaded onto it. His name actually means "He will sing". (and he does)

Well my boys have been so sick this last week or so. It started with Jacob getting strep throat and then Jaron and Jonah started running fevers so we thought they had it too. Come to find out it was just a virus and nothing we could do for it. They both went 7 DAYS with 101-102 fevers and coughing/puking and diahrea. There wasn't much sleeping going on for me at night. But today is the first day without fevers. Jaron hasn't had any cough meds today and he has actually eaten some food today too. So I think we are done with the virus. THANK GOD. That was the hardest 7 days of my life!!!

Superman!

This is what we do on a daily basis at our house. He loves to "do superman!" Notice the gloves...he loves wearing them DAILY for no apprent reason just needs gloves.

This was his prize when he went to the Fun dentist! Yep that's right http://www.thefundentist.com/ I take Jacob to a children's dentist here locally and I am so happy with how they run things. He goes back by himself and comes out smiling! Jaron has always went to the craniofacial center in atlanta. It was not a pleasant experience TO SAY THE LEAST! I mean 4 adults (including ME) holding him down and still can't keep him still for a simple cleaning. No toys in the room. No paitings or TV's on the ceilings. No balloons. (all of which the fun dentist has) When we left there I always wondered if they actually got anything clean. And he would be sweating bullets and wore slap out from the fit he pitched. It was like torture. So I asked them if he would be ok to see a regular dentist for cleanings only and they said no he needs to see them.

Well that wasn't good enough for me. A cleaning is just a cleaning. He is missing 2 teeth and the ones he does have are just in a different location. How hard can it be?!?!?!? So I talked to the ladies at the fun dentist and they said they do cleft kids all the time NO Problem. So I made him an appointment. I talked it up for 4 days and we even pretended to play dentist here at home with each other so when the day came he was begging me to go. He had been with Jacob before but never in the back only in the fun waiting room with a giant screen tv and video games. So we went last week and he did AWESOME! Went back all by himself. I forewarned them of his previous experiences. He was back there ONE HOUR!!! My nerves were shot! They came and got me when he was done and he was smiling. I could not believe it. He did not even cry. They did not have to hold his hand or anything. They even got Xrays which atlanta never attempted when he was awake. Unfortunately he does have 3 cavities on his top teeth and they need to be filled. They already filled 2 in atlanta before UNDER ANESTHESIA! Not at the fun dentist...he won't even need novicane. They might use laughing gas if he needs it but we'll see. He is excited to go back and I am so glad we made the switch.

Well Jaron is doing a lot better on speech. He has learned to make all his sounds correct and now all we have left to do it fix the nasality in his voice. He talks through his nose a lot. When we are out in public people say his voice is so cute. Well that is not what we want "mousy whine". He is doing flash cards with daddy learning to "talk like a man". Maybe one day we'll be done with therapy. I just want him to be normal. In the picture above he was eating a huge sucker and had the powder around his mouth.

Look at them all lined up. Jonah is learning to stand on his own and Jaron weighs only 6 pounds more than him. I wish he would eat better so Jonah won't outgrow him.

Now that is the cute smile I like to see...Jaron....well all three of them really but atleast Jaron isn't being silly he's actually smiling...

We went to Toys R Us to return something and they had this ride outside the store....He LOVED it!!!

Finally Gaining...

Jaron is finally starting to gain a little weight. He has been about 29 lbs. for a year or more. And now he weighs 31.5. I am so glad. That is my biggest struggle every day to get him to eat enough calories so he will grow. He is so skinny and wearing size 2T in pants because of his waist. He is getting a little taller...not much but I can tell the pants are too short.

He was saying to Jonah..."Almost there Jonah, almost..." So cute!

And here he said "take a picture mommy, I love him!"

Look at that elvis lip....he does that a lot when he talks now like he has learned to use those top lip muscles more I think. We call it the "Elvis look" So cute!

Overall it was good news! First of all we didn't get much sleep because Jaron was stuffy and coughing all night before we went. We made it to the airport in plenty of time and got to our gate and the plane coming in was delayed so it made us delayed a few minutes. Then we all boarded the plane and they said there was mechanical problems and that was not very comforting. We finally took off at 11 and landed at 1:30 so that didn't give us much time to get to his 2:00 appointment. We took a cab real quick and just barely made it. We went to the basement first to get pictures made then back up to the clinic floor to wait for the doctors to call him back. We met with some friends we have been talking to online. And we met some new kids too. We saw the dentist first and Jaron was not very cooperative. They wanted to look at his top teeth with a flashlight and he screamed! He did say that Jaron is missing 3 teeth and has a 7mm underbite. The plan is to keep his teeth clean for now and wait for the baby teeth to fall out and when he gets his adult teeth then he will need the next surgery. They said around age 7 or 8 he will need some bone taken from his hip and put in his gums and possibly some cartlidge taken from his hip and put in his lip. And he may also get a palate expander. Then age 17 they can do a final nose revision and jaw distraction. Dr. Mulliken said "I won't lie his nose is getting a little blunt tip" But it's to be expected. He doesn't think the nostrils will widen though and he was very happy with Jaron's lip scars. He pointed out to a lady training under him from Germany that Jaron has a nice cupids bow. So all in all it was a good trip. Now I have a better idea in my mind of Jaron's future. I just hope Dr. Mulliken will be around long enough to care for him and if not I hope he's training some good doctors and maybe one of them will come to GA!!!

Well we got our plane tickets for Boston. October 10th is the big day. We are going to meet with the plastic surgeon and the dentist to see what they think. We need to decide if we want to do his dental work up there or here in GA. And find out when they might want to do another surgery. It will just be a one day trip. You know me I don't want to stay if I don't have to.

Cavities & Cuddling

Jaron is just getting over another ear infection. He went to Atlanta yesterday and got 3 fillings and had to get anesthesia to have them done. They also did an xray only to find that he does not seem to have his top incisers. That is the teeth beside the two front teeth. So I guess there will need to be some fake teeth put in place one day in the future. Don't really know what will happen. We are going to Boston October 10th for a team visit to talk about future surgeries for Jaron.
And this is what I wake up to most mornings. I start them all out in their own beds but Jonah does better in my bed nursing still and I seem to get more sleep as well. Then at some point during the night Jaron also ends up in my bed. It is hard at times but I do love to cuddle too.
