I finished eleven more cloths. I put them in baggies with a bar of Ivory Soap and delivered 24 of them to the local Red Cross. Don't worry Mischelle, I haven't forgotten you. There's plenty more to work up by the end of July!!

October 4th is on a Saturday this year and is the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi. A young girl in California is asking everyone to not use their vehicles for this one day. I think we can make a plan for this:~)

SMALL PREEMIE HATS AND BOOTIES

Halfway to my goal of ten sets for this contest:~D I'm using my favorite patterns for hats and booties in the small size. These would have fit my first two preemies at birth. For the Olympics I believe I'll try to make the medium size that would have fit my third boy. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft.

TRIANGULAR GARTER STITCH SHAWL

I've decide on making the Triangular Garter Stitch Shawl for the Wrapped In Care Shawl Project. I looked in my stash and found two skeins of Baby Bee Sweet Delight Baby yarn in the surfbaby color. Each skein has 377 yards. I hope I'll be able to find more if I run out. I'm using US10 needles. It's nice, light, soft and easy care.
It will be going to St. Paul, Minnesota. Hello Saint Paul!!! You think it's a coincidence? I think it's humorous. I would have made one anyway, but I think that this year being dedicated to Saint Paul makes it even more special:~)

WRAPPED IN CARE SHAWL PROJECT

You may have read about this project and then again you may be reading about it here for the first time. I'd just like to say it touches my heart as I know how very fortunate I am to have been able to bring home my sweet born-too-soon babies. It could have so easily been me who had to bury my boy(s). So I intend to knit a shawl for this project this year. I'm sure I have something suitable in the stash. There's no deadline so I hope you consider making a shawl for a deserving soul. JUST A LITTLE BIT OF GARDEN

Here we have some green beans and a couple of sunflower plants. In other areas we have some watermelon plants up as well. Just a little bit of a garden, but it's more than we've have the past few years. The way the water was flowing in our back yard the past few days it was iffy at best whether our little garden would survive this year. Thankfully it was spared. Do you have a garden?

*After the purple stripe I'll go around one more time before I start weaving in the ends. I've been working here and there on cloths and preemie hat/bootie sets.

The knitters in the bunch kept rotating as the afternoon turned to evening. The Cardinals played the Arkansas Naturals in a double-header and was a lot of fun. Thank you Zarah for planning this event:~D
ps I knit up three washcloths. Others were knitting socks but one was knitting on a scarf and one a hat. What a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening!

When the sign is lit they pass out free samples of fresh warm glazed donuts. The boys liked to see how the donuts are made and there is always nice people there to help take your order and pass out free samples. So yummy!

Don't know if you can see the design very well, but it's so cute! You can see it better here along with the pattern. I used US4 needles to get a cloth that is 10"x11". It's the first cloth from Bernadette's generous donation:~D

LOG CABIN KNITTING

Still using the various odds and ends of the Caron Simply Soft I began making a log cabin blanket. The inspiration came from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book. I'm hoping to finish this soon as I don't want to have anything on my lap. It is almost officially summer! With the newly received cotton yarn I'm looking forward to knitting up cloths, but I'm really liking how this is coming along too. Too bad the color is off on the darker parts. Hopefully when it's done I'll get a better picture.

Look what I got in the mail today! A big THANK YOU to Bernadette who so generously donated this yarn. They will be used to make cloths for the local Red Cross and the scraps will be knit up into pads for the Humane Society. I can hardly wait to get started. It's the perfect summer knitting:~D

This turned out so nicely! It is made from my Caron Simply Soft scraps using this pattern. US 10 needles and came out 34"x36". I'll see if Newborns In Need can use it after I make up some hat/booties.

St. Rita of Cascia is the saint who chose me to work on this year. She's the patron saint of the impossible. When I was studying the lives of the saints and about the Catholic church she stood out as one of the brightest saints. There is even a large statue of her at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
